I’d love to have courtyard back exactly the way it was and with a separate mode preference called deathmatch.

Personally I just think courtyard should become a 5v5 only team different queue. Here is the rule of this specific queue and map: only one downstate and one rez ability allowed per player in the map with a 6 minutes timer and the first team that goes down has lost. For pvp centric guilds, it could be awesome to queue as a guild and for those who miss the trinity system and are bored of conquest, they could play as one player becoming a healer for example in the perspective of supporting a team.

Deathmatch will never work in GW2 because we have :

-Super tanky specs that may require focus from several sources ( scrapper-dh mender-druid mender)

-Stealth ganking
-Super rezzing
-Massive aoe dmg on low cd, instant and with teleport
-Massive condi aoe bombs

I kind of disagree. I mean these offenders exist in the game because in the end the conquest maps require all these elements for a team to be successful at capturing and holding nods. Don’t you think that in the format of death match all these issues will disappear because if all teams play tanks, neither team will win because they failed at killing their opponents whereas in conquest it really does not matter because they did not fail and capturing and holding a nod? I feel like also editing my previous idea as well: no class stacking or more precisely, a restriction of class stacking to one class per team duplicated to a max. of 2

I miss courtyard too, biggest issue this map had was being part of the same queue as conquest maps. It needed it’s own queue without build templates. So players can properly prepare to play the mode. Same as stronghold.

It was among my favorites, such good times, just taken away for no seaming reason.

ps: I’d rather get 5 customization build templates. This would allow you to equip weapons, gear, traits and utility skills all with the press of a button, once you’ve set the template up. Would be my favorite feature!

On the topic of deathmatch. I also was dreaming yesterday of a free for all mode on a modified version of the map. You get 1 point per kill, and lose 1 point per death. 6 players. To secure a kill you must deal the majority of the damage to the player (damage reset when healed to full) So it would be a mode where players try and burst eachother, while avoiding getting stomped, and if you see someone go down, it’s in your interest to “help” them, because a complete down would give a point to another player. (Since there is only 1 point per kill, based on who dealt the most damage from 100%-0%)

Could be super fun, and to make it, just modify the courtyard map a bit to have 6 entrances for players to come from. Maybe even make the mode go up to 10 players. But I think 6 would be the best number. Could even include 2v2v2 for it.

Hello, yes.

- at least a 8v8 mode.
- A bigger map where players will not be stuck all together.
- More open space to move/run (less walls and spaces to hide)

- A canon mechanic (easier to use than treb). It will be a solution for players who are not good in fights and to dispatch ennemy teams.

I’d prefer a few straight “deathmatch” maps. All I feel like Courtyard itself needed was better options for exiting the base (farther apart) since essentially either direction could be hit by a single players range skill. If I had to suggest an exit I’d say leave an opening at base of course and then: 1 exit right side of map for Blue, and 1 exit left side of map for Red. Add in base-only superspeed/swiftness so u can exit quickly when getting camped on one side before they chase to the other.

1. separate the match into rounds, each kill grants some score (stomps more).
2. start a new round when everyone is dead on a team or the timer runs out.
3. if a team wins by more then a certain margin after 2 rounds the teams are shuffled. have maybe 5 rounds.
4. disable custom games spectator team switch (can still go into spectate then back to previous team).
5. maybe some unique buffs (think quake, yes you know you want quad damage!)

  • Best out of 3 rounds
  • 5 minute per round
  • A very slow Chieftan spawns at 2.50 minutes in, with a 75% damage increase.
  • In case of 0 deaths, Sudden Death round for 3m, a Chieftan with super speed spawns in 1m in.

Could you try to make it in beta as an arena style map? Maybe reduce its size abit make it 3 man q or or idk 1v1 or 2v2 and remove resses and respawns. Also make it a best of 3.

It might be quite abit of work but im interested to see how the community will take an arena map.

As long as it’s death match then it will be the best pvp map. It can have some dynamics or be even 4v4 or 3v3 but the key is going back to what works. Gw1 style PvP and no more circle dancing. hell add some underwater for fun.

The existing mechanic worked, so no need to fix what wasn’t broken. It was a fun map and it was different. There is no need to add capture points as it would remove what was unique about it compared to all other maps. If anything is changed, maybe add another level to the map (previously it just had the base which as down stairs, and the main level)

The maps charm was its simplicity and the additional team strategy where teams keeping each other alive was more important than the kills. Provided a better form of unity and comradery that was very refreshing. The only thing I would suggest maybe looking at (to prevent spawn camping, as it was very common) is maybe placement of the spawn point and/or the exit(s) to the fighting area.

If you insist on adding anything, is MAYBE map “traps” that may trip someone, push/pull someone, cripple for a few seconds, small stealth (maybe like 3s 260 aoe, nothing major or that does damage but can turn the tides of the battle without needing to cap anything or bunker on a point) to accent the battles on each level.
