Bronze Tier 1 Hell/Changes to Measure Skill
But that’s the thing: I can’t personally swing a game from a loss to a win on my own. I need a good, well-rounded team to help, and in a lot of my defeated games, my teams are beyond dumb. They can’t rotate properly, they suicide at mid, they leave me alone to cap 3 points while they duel off-point, overload far with 4 players. I’m providing my evidence and you’re just throwing it off like it shouldn’t exist. I can’t prevent these instances, and when you’re stuck in the lowest tier, it always happens, drags me down and locks me off from progressing higher because ’I’m where I’m meant to be’, yet my contribution in all games rewards me with Top Stats etc etc, and don’t discredit Top Stats because that’s definitely an indication of player skill, if you’re out-performing the rest of your team.

This is where you’re totally wrong. If you’re good enough, you absolutely can swing a game from a loss to a win on your own. Thief is very capable of doing that. You’re just not personally able to do it, there’s a difference.
Edit: if you’re so sure that you’re actually good and held back by your teammates, I’m sure you’d be happy to record a video to prove that to us.

I’m actually getting sick and tired of hearing: “This is where you’re totally wrong.” I’m not wrong, because I never claimed to be a pro player. I claimed to be at least competent unlike my teams when I lose. When I have a competent team, everyone gets on fine and we win, and no, I’m not ‘being carried’, I’m providing a valuable contribution to my team by rotating properly, de-capping and capping, winning 1v1s, aiding 1v1s to become 2v1s etc etc.
Basically, the bottom line of what you’re saying is: “Your team doesn’t matter. You should be able to individually win a game.” It’s complete BS, no team gets carried to a victory. Everyone has to contribute, unless you’re paired with a pro-level duo.

Again, you’re missing my point. I’m not saying that you should be able to carry all your games. In fact, I’m not even saying that you should need to carry any games.
The point is that over time, you will end up in games that are close. You’re not carrying your team to a win, you’re simply giving it that little extra nudge it needs to win a close game that it otherwise would have lost. Over time, if this little nudge to a win happens more often than the system expects, you will end up with greater than a 50% win rate and will climb the ladder. That’s why matchmaking works.

I agree with Fay, especially on thief.
See it that way : when you play with a thief, your team is basically fighting in a losing situation, a 4v5, but there is a bazooka running around the map. That bazooka is you, you have the ability to transform an honourable sword duel into a one sided slaughter. Your team’s ability is greatly enhanced by using the bazooka since the strain of a duel becomes a walk in a park.
As a thief you really have that possibility to carry, but even a +1 that is more than 10 sec is a mistake.

What are you still trying to argue. Why give these people the satisfaction on seeing you get all worked up over literary nothing. Just go out there and farm your PvE rewards like most in your tier. If you think for a sec that you are going to get competitive skill based PvP in a super casual MMORPG. I just want to let you know, man you just completely totally wrong. All illusions all a competitive scene went out the window, when idle or troll players was allowed to make players lose matches, then to top it off players lose way more then they gain, something takes3 to 4 matches to recover from one loss. Then you had HoT which really disolved any illusion that the PvP scene in this game was going to be competitive. And even on top of that because of the devs not wanted outsiders to see the inherent balance disasters, they added a rule in ESL that each team can only have one class per team. LMAO…wait just wait… While….. ahahahaha… at the same time… ahahahahaha….. allowing highly unbalanced class stacking in the Ranked Leagues….. ROFL….. “loses stomach laughing soo hard”
I can’t believe there was a point in my life. That I expected to have competitive matches here. Let alone a leader board to shows peoples skill level compared to others. (Thank you all ye players that was or still is on the top 250 leader boards who paid to have others throw matches for you.) AHAHAHAHAAHAHA! “loses stomach for the 2nd time”
I’ll tell you what, if you see this post before it get infracted and I get a one month or perma ban from forums. Ever since I’ve stepped away from trying to be competitive in the GW2 PvP scene, and started trying out dedicated PvP games. I’ve started to have the time of my life PvPing again. Had a few trolls in these games. But in those games trolls don’t get to keep their accounts for long. Also the grind to be able to even attempt ranked, is around 150 plus hours of matches, it took me 250 hours because I sucked at MOBA like game play at the time.
But to get back on track. Playing other dedicated PvP games actually made me less disgruntled towards ANet and it’s trolls with in it’s PvP community. Because after a while I got it. MMORPGs are not PvP games they are PvE/Lore games which in some cases like GW2 get a fringe amount of Dev PvP support, while most time and effort goes towards making them more money via Player character progression over Player skill progression via Power creep. (Because if Jeff sees that by just spending $40 Mike became way more powerful, 9/10 times Jeff is going to spend the $40 is IRL don’t get in his way.)
TL:DR
There is absolutely no reason to get mad in GW2 about any thing PvP related. If any thing yall should be happy that ANet is giving yall a way to get some Ascended and Legendary gear with no time gates and very minor effort. It’s not like a actual PvP focused game where you can possibly get seen by, tens if not hundreds of thousands of people around the world and a shot at a multi-million dollar prize pool.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys

No, you’re confusing issues. Blowout matches aren’t caused by the matchmaking, and matchmaking isn’t worried about the score in matches. Matchmaking only worries about the final outcome, that’s it.
Blowout matches are inherent to gw2 PvP. The match dynamics are very snowbally with capture points, making even fairly close matches in terms of team skill end up as blowouts in score. Nothing that matchmaking can do will change this; it’s built into the very structure of the game.
so would you rather have a matchmaking that gives more close matches or more blowouts? that’s what people who are upset with the matchmaking come to the forums about. too many blowouts. it doesnt have to be this way, people can and do come up with creative solutions all the time. if we didn’t then we would never have evolved as a species.
I do ofc agree that gw2 pvp is snowbally, but there are plenty of close matches as well. there has to be a way to enable more.
