Like giving all Asura’s a normalized standard size, like slightly smaller then a human for anything PvP related.

What plagued Aion was the characters that they created were created small, peasize small, intentionally to be dominate(cause you can’t attack what you can’t see dominate) in PvP and World PvP. It just bout made the game uninteresting after it was abused.

Team paradigm were the exception to the rule. I don’t believe any other team had less than four asura. Also notice that all of the three humans on TP were female characters so I’m guessing the desire to play a girl and dress her up in skimpy clothes was more important for them.

U may not be saying that but a lot of people in this thread are. I and most others can tell their animation just fine. I’ve never lost a fight and gone, kitten , I couldn’t tell their animation to dodge in time.

As far as viewing, I’ve already made my point, make them all human as a requirement of the tourney, not a function of ANet. I’d happily watch 5 scantily clad light armor any day.

Cast bars are not the solution, this is a heavily animation based game where telegraphs, timing, fields, and positioning heavily impact the fight and are integral to a players success.

The game was intentionally designed this way, so that the player would not be looking at cast bars and the UI the majority of the fight, telegraphs are how we are meant to properly respond to what’s going on in a fight.

Cast bars are counter-intuitive by nature to the combat system’s core design.

That said, this is the very reason Asura’s are so problematic in any type of enviornment for pvp, competitive or otherwise.

Too bad the winners of a MAJOR tourney didn’t have this issue. :rolleyes

Nothing like a good logical fallacy in the morning. The fact one great team won with just 2 asuras and 3 smallest sized humans does not mean asura’s don’t have an advantage, of course they do. If the argument was “only teams with all asuras” can win matches then the data you presented would be relevant, with the argument being they give a small advantage that no one claims precludes other races from winning matches, this is irrelevant.

“Advantage” doesn’t necessarily mean “guaranteed victory”. It just makes something that has no reason for not being balanced slightly out of whack in a game mode that tries to tout balance.

In a game where animations telegraphing abilities is THE design decision that they went with over cast bars, why wouldn’t we question one race’s telegraphy being much more subtle/difficult to observe than another? It might not always be a determining factor, but it’s taking a piece away from the game unnecessarily.

Perhaps some of you need to learn to be less reactive. I give up, ANet, just make all tourneys be only smallest female so that they’ll find something else to whine about.

If you watched the stream, Paradigm barely won. They came from behind to tie up the series and it went down to the wire in the 5th match. In the final match-up, 6 out of the 10 players picked the smallest race.

Did that give them an advantage? Possibly?
Did it make the game look really silly? Absolutely!

Well if you bothered to read what I originally asked for then you would realise that it requires no work or resources. I just wanted asura banned from these professional tournaments to make viewing better. I don’t have a problem with asura in general, but I think seeing 8 of them all jumping around each other does look silly, and I think most people would agree. Imagine a League of Legends game where everyone was playing those teemo things.

Finally, someone w/ sense. Don’t ban anything, just have the Tourney Organizers mandate humans or have the participants agree to play humans.

Also, [SYC] had 3 asura and 2 humans. So for PAX, it’s 5 humans and 5 asura.

It only really matters for some classes. Trying to play hammer warrior for example, dramatically easier with an asura.

FYI Thieves, Mesmers, and Necromancer do not need to play Asura as the animations are not really needing to be masked.

Mesmers half their skills look the same regardless of race. I.E. no difference in shatter animation.

Thieves aren’t always stealthed, and there are still the other half of the mesmer animations that have an advantage from asura.

As for necro…it’s actually the main reason I thought conditionmancers were overpowered even before the super buff. Can’t tell what they are doing, and most of those attacks are aoe. However, their best healing skill takes forever to cast, and everyone miles away can tell when my charr does it vs nobody noticing when an asura does it.

Three out of eight classes don’t get the same amount of advantage as the others, but they still gain a huge advantage regardless. That certainly does not invalidate the argument.

I’m quite frankly sick of fighting bouncing shrimp all day long.

The solution is simple. Give spectators cast bars (with spell title) so they can see what the players are casting. This is actually really important for spectating, because it’s hard to see animations. I suppose for instant casts it wouldn’t be that useful, unless you had an area on the HUD that listed the last 3 spells, instant or casted. Basically give spectators information.

You have to think outside the box for MMO spectating. You can’t try to emulate what MOBAs or RTS are doing, it’s completely different.

What about Invis? Norn/Char’s being too big to select people standing in/behind them? What about clones?

I mean, there could be a party bar for both teams so you can click and select from that.
But apart from UI clutter, would brake Thief/Mes mechanics?

Tweaks on particles & smarting up the targeting system, as the dev’s said. Will be awesome!

The way it was done in the first guild wars was well done, the instant skills appeared below the other skills. You could tell they were instant as well because there wasn’t the charge-up of the casting bar.

Reducing the animation density won’t o much when the position of arms, legs and weapons work better to indicate a character’s actions.

Weapons looks too thin and small in asura, and an asura completely died with the same color (dark colors like midnight fire or midnight ice work better) will make their arms and legs blend with their model in any screen smaller than 1800×1200. And even at higher resolutions it will still hard to see.
You can set team colors on, but that won’t do much as it’s mostly the same color, so it will still blend.

The fact that so many asura rely on that kind of dishonorable trickery should be proof enough that something must be done to stop it.

Removing all those lights and sparks will do nothing when they are minuscule blurry smudges all on their own.

At least weapons should be much bigger in asura. Instead keeping a 2h weapon almost vertical in their backs, keep them almost horizontal, instead keeping weapons in their waist, keep them crossed behind their back, so they can be bigger when stowed and bigger when wielded.

Because not everyone is a dishonorable coward that will exploit all imbalances, tricks gitches and faults in the system to win. That’s why there’s still all professions instead just a bunch of thieves, rangers and engineers spamming conditions and hiding and running around as much as possible.

Incorrect – that is subjective. If one race provides an advantage over all other races, that is an issue.
If a bunch of bunnies hopping around the screen makes the game less appealing to watch, then fewer people will watch it. If fewer people watch it, it will be less popular. If it is less popular, fewer people will buy it. That translates into fewer sales. Spending resources on falling sales is not silly. Objectively.

the whole thread is hilarious XD why dont we jsut delte all asuras from the game so the spectating ppl will be pleased lol idk some ppl may have issues with their eyes or smt like that but in a fight i can clearly see what an asura is doing so ya mega lol and removing asuras from spvp will also make the whole pvp armor skins useless….
