Yeah absolutly, this game needs better tool to improve connections between people. I don’t know if it’s better to create ingame tools or create a dedicated website for tpvp (a spot where to find tpvp updated builds, video tutorial, streamers link, forum, general chat, single player profile, infos about your pvp status like gwshack.info etc) but we need absolutly social tools to create new party or looking for good players easily.
Maybe I can write something up if they provide an API to the leaderboards! I can possibly create a website to list the current ‘speculated’ best builds and probably and upvote and downvote option. I’ll look into it sometime later this week.
@ Acaro yea you can join guilds across EU and NA….myself and some others from EU tested this and I can confirm it works =)
The guild name is already in use, the guilds are probably cross-region wide, so I´ld need an invite to the guild by you
I’ll send you an invite along with Cero and see how that works out~
@ Arc I have no clue about website creation stuff but if someone started to make an amazing hub of a website to compliment this drive of community in game I’d definitely happily upload video content etc as well. =). I find teaching others and being vocal with theorycrafting etc is a great way to learn more yourself….at least for me.
The biggest hurdle isn’t a guild or a voip server, it is letting new players know that these resources exist. Outside of spamming map chat in the mists, I don’t know of a decent way to do that without some built in help from Anet.

Very good point. I thought of this, and that is why I started the thread in the fashion that I did.
What I am hoping to see is a lot of active players generating word of mouth from the infrastructure that will naturally develop as this conversation continues. If we get the core of the PvP community on board (the most active players) then their referrals are the best fuel to make this go. It is somewhat akin to viral marketing.
Once groups are up and running regulary they can invite solo quers that pop onto their teams and get them in the loop and it will gain its own momentum from there.

Yeh, that´s the tricky part…
It´s hard to spread information about little/new guilds wiht little reputition.
But I think a step in the right direction would be to put some videos up in youtube and keep spamming them in the pvp/class forums.
At least a handful players on the forum got some reputition this way.
@Cero that would give me an excuse to get into youtube again =P I miss making vids =(
Getting a sticky here in the spvp forum for the academy guild would be a beginning probably.
@ Acaro that would be awesome if we did….who knows =)
I guess biggest problem is that new pvp player don’t read forum. There is Topic, where are listet players who is actually helping newbies (tpvp, hot join and 1vs1) base’d on theyr class.
Ofcource idea to make guild for pvp players ,where will be some instuctors is great. I would gladly help any new necro (guess there will be not much of them), so if you make EU guild, you can count on me )
Btw, there are a lot of topics where ppl are offering they help in tpvp)
Well, I´m one of these necros as example, as I aknowledged a lot by watching vids and reading the forum and pracitsing a lot I think I´m able to play the class to same degree and actually really love the utility our fears as terrormaner offer in team fights, but what would be like really, really great, would be if we could get on a ts together and you watch me on spectator mode playing and point out the things I´m doing wrong
And good idea with the players helping new players thread, I´ll message them if they want to participate in this.
In EU i would recommend to contact TokyoMurai or Forsaiken (or me,but i am not so good as they),but i didn’t seen them for a long time…
I’d like an invite to this Pvp guild if possible. EU.
Sure thing! What I’ll probably do is add a NA and EU tag to the guild ranks so people know who they can party up with, but you should always feel welcomed to ask anyone in the guild for builds/experiences.
I’d also like an invite to the guild (EU). I just got my Champion Genius title but having been destroyed on the way by some top ranked players, i’d love to be involved in possibly improving / helping others to get up to a certain level.

Man, so much EU xD, and I’ll definitely send you an invite. Please look out for a possible voice server notice soon for all pvpers. I’m going to try to set one up.

Builds for tpvp are an usefull starting base but there are already websites like http://www.esportsgaming.net/ are doing a very great job in sharing this info with very good videos.
First of all, i think people need a social hub (in game or website) where they can know each other and looking for people to play, to full a roster or a tpvp party etc.
Basically the idea would be have a website where people can log in and have their tpvp profile with very good infos like gwshack.info and other stuff (Country, when they play, if they have a party or not, main profession, number of tournaments played, languages spoken etc).
After that we need a tool to filter this infos, so people can find people who speak their main language and they play at their same hours, they have similar experience in tournament (tournament played), they have similar “skill” (ladder position, winn/loss ratio etc.)
Those tools would help to grow pvp community

Not sure how long it will take due to my work, but I can possibly create this kind of website and build it in a way where it does generate income (by very small ads) but re-direct the revenue to tournament prize money. I am an entrepreneur but I like creating things for people rather than for money. If we have any devs reading this forum, I can create an infrastructure in which we can separate the workload to finish this type of site faster.
edit: I might try an open use format like GW2 LFG, where you do not have to create an account to use it but also have creating an account as an option so people can record their profile information and not have to re-write every single time.

I consider myself a new to pvp in general. I am only pvp lvl 10, yet xP
If there´d ever be such a teamspeak server (or chat or… whatever), I´d definitely visit it… a lot :P
I´d really appreaciate to get more in contact with the pvp-(not-hotjoin)-community and get some advices on gameplay on certain maps.I´d love to become better at pvp and to become a better player in general BUT I have no clue how I should do that.
Many people say that I should play some hotjoin but from what I´ve seem I think it´s no good foundation for the (more) serious kind of pvp I soon want to participate in.
Also, I think joining a solo queue is no good, either. I don´t really want to bother more experienced players with my low-level-nessI really dont mind losing. Sometimes the opposing team is simply better. And personally, I think I can gain more experience from a loss, because I start reflecting on what I did wrong and try to be more careful the next time.
What truly discourages me is that I cant seem to get any pvp-contacts. Seriously, who wants to have a friggin lvl 10 pvp-noob in his friendlist?
But somehow I can´t believe that there are enough(/ any) veterans who truly want to help lower lvl players get into the (pvp)game…
Greetings from a pvp-newbie :P
I am right there with ya. I would really like to get into Tpvp but to be completely honest I do not feel welcomed going in, not knowing all the proper map mechanics, what my role should be on any given map and finding players to group with who will be patient and or teach me the ropes so not to be such a burden to any given team I am a part of whether group or solo queue. Youtube videos, forum advice, and hotjoins will only take you so far, you actually need to get your hands dirty and play Tpvp to get good at it and that does not feel like a welcoming option available for newer pvp’ers.

Let me guess: you are Necro
No worries ther, because you need a ton of expirience to play with random team.
But mostly for Tpvp you should get Signet Of Undeath [in every build!] and be near the mass fights.
So you already made a newbie TPvP guild [EU]?
If so you can invite me to support new necros or just to explain map mechanics.
I know that i am not often in game, so you can add me in skype so i can log in game and help ya

Not sure if that was directed towards me, but I can add you to assit our fellow EU necro players!
No we don´t have it yet, as Arc is at work and can´t invite anybody of us EU players right now, so we need to wait for him to get back home.
A.NET should “snoop” on the Top 20’s most used characters and get their classes, post their traits and builds on an official A.NET build database so noobs like me and you could use them.
When both of the players are using the most optimized build there is, it will boil down to who uses the build perfectly or flawlessly.
Just a thought though.
This is EXACTLY what arena net DOES NOT want to happen. They want build diversity, it’s healthy for the tPvP and the game in general.

Haha ok, that works :P. Alright guys, I looked into the VOIP server programs and I’m considering TeamSpeak 3. I have my own hosting service so I will run off it for now and I’ll make backup plans to pass it on to someone willing if I ever step down from gw2 (which won’t be in the near future but always good to have). If I get it setup tonight I’ll let you guys know!
Updated. See the original post for ongoing details that will be refreshed/brought current as this project develops.
Continue to post below if you want to get involved either on NA or EU servers. Arc and I are working together in NA at the moment. If we can get some more r25+ (ideally r30+ with at least 150 tPvP wins since ladder started) to help lead the effort it would be great. Also, if there are people interested in taking the lead for EU that are experienced tPvPers, then we would be interested in collaborating and making this a worldwide effort. Hablo un poquito de Espanol. We are, as far as I know, sol when it comes to other languages for the time being.
VOIP has been set up on C3 for a starting point. I like to support programs that have good functionality as a free option, and frankly the price is right for a community organizing system
You can DL the C3 program here: www.downloadc3.com
Channel is “Academy of the Mists” just search it and you will find the right place.
I can take lead in EU (Tpvp since release), but would like bit more inforamtion about my duty as team leader

Sent you a pm.
The more willing to help boost the community, the merrier.
Well one night in and a not too bad 75% win rate.
Thank you to my friends that were willing to help out and fill in the remaining party slots to get a full group together.
I had fun and hopefully we can keep the buzz going, and maybe get enough attention to get a sticky on this at some point.
I managed to rally a 5 member team and won 4 games in a row. I somehow ended up staying late and ended up sparring with members Pim and Annie. Let me say, I’ve never had the chance the actually learn how a phantasm mesmer works until now—Looking forward to figuring how to overcome them.
It would be nice to have some more EU players to collaborate, I sent an invite to the people who posted earlier, but anyone is welcomed. I encourage all members to leverage the ‘lfg’ status to let others know you’d like to tpvp or just whisper whoever is online. It’s good that everyone has gotten along real well so far.
@ArcTheFallen: Can I get an invite? (NA) I think this is a great idea to have a database of players to form teams. Trying to improve and tired of solo queues, and my main guild is almost entirely focused on PVE.
Hey Jason! Np. I will add you when I get back from work. Also this is a no-rep guild, so you can still be a part of your PVE if you want, and you’ll be able to see who’s online and available to tpvp by looking at who’s online in the Academy (which most of us are loitering in HOTM). Hope to be able to play some games with you later~
This sounds like a good deal for those of us who have limited friends to hook up with. I’m always up for learning more and meeting people. Would like an invite.

Got your name down! Look forward to meeting you in game soon ^^
I know Dani and have run with him a few times before. good guy, and good to see him jumping into the fray.
I’d like to encourage any new pvpers, hiatus pvpers who have returned recently, or experienced players to consider joining! We need more people to fill up team slots and unfortunately I cannot duplicate myself to be on two separate teams (sad life). I have managed to get a full team for the past two nights and I am trying to make sure I alternate my group so everyone in the guild gets a chance to have a full party experience.
For all pvpers, I will be looking into creating a website soon for the pvp realm, so if you have any suggestions on what types of functionatilies you would like it to have to help you become a better player (or just as a necessity), please lt me know.

Yesterday emon and I played some tournaments. It was quite fun despite us only being two players :P He even gave a small necro tutorial … until we got interrupted x)
It´s good to see many players on the NA-part of the project, but I´d love to see some more players sign up for EU xP
o and btw…. for the sake of getting more EU players… am I allowed to promote the project on the fr/ger gw2 forum?

Definitely! And if you get any responses, feel free to send them an invite personally yourself, if you do not have admin rights, ask emon to give you them, but you should be able to I believe. Good to know you both have been able to team up! ^^
The guild roster is functioning pretty well as a means of forming teams already. I noticed the EU folks using the C3 already yesterday as well, which is awesome.
Quick FYI, anyone can make a subchannel for your group to run matches in, so there isn’t excessive lobby chatter during your matches. (one of the really nice features of C3)
Pugging a group is getting to be like a quick way to soloque, but knowing that the match won’t be ruined by a leaver.
I’ve been a part of this guild for a couple weeks now and want to chime in briefly on how impressed I am with it. I had been doing strictly solo que prior to joining, begrudgingly accepting the low ranking that comes with it so to avoid the “personalities” I’ve been used to in competitive play in other games, but the guild members I’ve been playing with most frequently are the exact sort of people I want to play with: civil, respectful, easy-going, extremely attractive.
So if anyone else has similar preferences in teammates, I recommend giving the guild a try.
…but the guild members I’ve been playing with most frequently are the exact sort of people I want to play with: civil, respectful, easy-going, extremely attractive.
Glad you are enjoying the experience.
Clearly the “extremely attractive” bit was intended for me. You shouldn’t have. Plus you left out wildly intelligent. Genius is far too small a word.
I heard a rumor we even have a TS server somewhere…
Hey, I’ll send a PM or something to one of you guys in-game. I’d appreciate being a part of something like this. I’m not super knowledgeable about most classes, but I’m pretty much a genius* when it comes to engi’s, and what they can do in tPvP. That and I could use a group to queue with, I hate solo queueing soo much.
Not actually a genius*
I have to agree with Libertine Lush, Both Mymidian and Arcthefallen, have been nothing but more than helpful. Mymidians comment about not letting the vocal minority that have cast a negative stereotype on the general pvp community hinder me from enjoying a part of the game was very helpful. I do not get to join in as many tournys as I wish because my kids demand a lot of my time. Just wanted to say thanks to all that have started AOTM and showing people like me that are not as familiar with pvp how fun it can be.

Yes! The TS3 server is so useful for better team collaboration and is open to anyone who wants a great pug team. Lots of thanks to Android for renting one. I am working together with him as the server admin so feel free to suggest any channel setups you would like. I also encourage any consistent premade teams to use our TS3 and I can set up a channel specifically for your team.

Tonight will be a blast. We have a Ts3 going guys, if anyone wants to scrimmage or get some training sessions in, let me know and we will work with Bas to set something up (you could be casted!). If you want to just tpvp, contact me as well! Both NA and EU are welcomed!!
Any chance you guys have an oceanic or late night NA contingent? As an Aussie player it’s quiet on the oceanic front
Hm, what time is that in NA EST?
