Dungeon modes again?
Lol at the PvE rage. You can only have one reward track active at a time. So if you want to PvP for 1 dungeon set , you only need to run that particular dungeon’s story once (assuming the dungeon isn’t on the bi-weekly rotation). Barring Arah, that’s like 30 minutes work and you’ll unlock it permanently.
It’s 50-80 PvP games for the final reward (1 single dungeon armor piece) of a track anyway, so you won’t be switching back and forth continously.
I wish I could unlock rewarding PvE stuff by PvPing for 30 minutes.
Can you please let ud run story or explorable mode?
I really feel like I waste my time doing story, because it has close to no rewards, and several explorables are actually faster (but a little bit harder) than story.
If you let us have te choice, then pvp-only players can do story, because they dont have good gear yet, and they can do story at a lower level. But players who wvw or pve can do the explorable without. Wasting time.
There IS one downside I can think of. Pve sungeon runners will have the tracks unlocked by accident and without rven knowing, that could remove a certain sense of progression.
suggestion: when you unlock a reward track, make a yellow system message appear thqt says: “Congratzulations, you unlocked the X pvp reward track!”.
This can potentially attract new players. “A reward track. Tht sounds rewarding, I should go try it!” . Especially when they dont reqd blog posts and dont know about pvp reward yet.

Its very simple. This is a new system (reward tracks) so they would have implemented a new flag “unlock X dungeon reward track”. Both PvE and PvP (ergo all players) have to get this flag. This is the easiest and cleanest way Anet could implement such a system. Any other system that recognises previous “stuff” would have been more work developing/testing and been made redundant for new players and probably caused bugs going forward.
I would much rather a clean system from the get go. Just run the Story Modes geesh. There are probably going to be other tracks you are interested in anyway (the pvp only backpack!) do those first. You can only do one at a time.
i actually do like this change
ive done my dungeon master about a year ago
but i liked most of the story dungeons (obviously not arah guess why…^^)
but since ive played pvp i got most of the dungeon armours
so i dont need to do them
pve lers dont have these armour skins
if they want them they need to do dungeons or dungeon story then change to dungeon track
if a mainly pvp player havnt done dungeons
he will most likely have the armours..
however a mainly pve player will probly have the dungeons and need to do them again
so this is a update that does NOT prefer pve players
also this is a nice way to get more characters into story modes so more guys can open dungeons
and i will not start with the balthasar backpice the pvp only stuff
because u can get that too easy
i much rather go and make the krytan area and the following ones since there are some kind of uniqe skins
and the last track uniqe skin might be QUITE a bit rarer than the only pvp thing since even pve lers can get that only pvp thing within a week…

I don’t get why pve players are complaining.
They only have to run the story mode again.
A lot of pvp players will not even have a char geared for pvp.
And no, this is not the PvP players fault. Nobody ever expected that for propper PvP rewards you would have to do PvE.
Maybe we should also introduce that every exploration mode of the dungeon requires a certain PvP rank.
From Ascalon requiering rank 10 up to Arah requiring rank 80. (hyperbole)
And hey, as you always need a Gift of Exploration for crafting Legendaries, why not add a “Gift of Championship” requiring all 8 Champion-X titles.
Wouldn’t this make things a little more even between PvP and PvE?
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike PvE players. My credo is “Live and let live”, but as soon pvp palyers have to pve for pvp (!) stuff, why don’t we also turn this around?
Everything else seems unfair to me.
@ Soinetwa: Your arguments only work for existing players.
The funny thing is, that everybody starting PvP after the next patch, will never profit from all the skin which where obtainable via pvp in the past.
Not to mention the following:
Most of the PvP skins these days are “common”. Except of some “rare” PvP only skins, most skins there are from dungeons, factions or other easily obtainable stuff.
Every skin could also be obtained via PvE. However, there are a lot of “PvE-exclusive” stuff, like ~50% of everything created in the mystical forge or every one of the “new” exotics from champions bags. Those are items only obtainable via PvE and will now be carried over into PvP.
Yes, PvP players might actually have had “easier” access to the Arah items, but there was also access via PvE.
However, PvP players never had access to stuff e.g. Vision of the Mists or Foefire’s essence.

But the real question is… If we run story mode again, will it unlock for the account or just the character that ran it? I’m not talking about the tracks but being able to do explorable on all toons instead of the ones that completed story.

if you start new with the game and are fully pvp player.. never gone to pve then you still play so much that you can quite easily do these dungeon tracks when theyre active to get those skins
also
youre leveling yur pve charakter through pvp rank ups bejond.. i dont know what rank^^
so a fully pvp player will be able to do these pve story mode dungeons if he so chooses
but he doesnt even need to since the dungeon tracks constantly change so he can get those skins periodically as well
i mean sure if a pvp player starts with the game at the 10th day of … arah for example he will probly not be able to get the full 40/40 neither can he do the storymode
but a pve ler wh starts on the same day will (without help) not achieve a full set of arah in 4days…
new players constantly evolve their characters
both in pvp and in pve if they want or not^^
thats what anet wanted to do with this update
and i think they did a great job with it
and if u have played pvp for a long time you will get some tome of knowledges for level ups in pve
as well as chamion bags and if you complete a 40/40 dungeon track you have your gear to run every story dungeon you choose
the only problem i see is that pvp players cant get instantly to story dungeons they have to walk from starting zones to arah (extreme)

Wait, so just to be absolutely 100% sure, I do all the story dungeons on one character (example my guard) and every other character has a permanently unlocked pvp track of all those dungeons (example, my mesmer and engineer)

Or if you just focus on the track of the week you never have to step in a Story Mode, period.
Sorry we weren’t super clear on how this whole thing works so let me try and clear it up here!
The dungeon tracks are on a 2 week rotations and only 1 will be active if you don’t unlock them. When a track you were currently progress
So when the 4/15 build hits you will need to complete the story mode of the corresponding dungeon reward track you wish to unlock permanently on your account. By completing the story mode on any character you will be able to run the repeatable dungeon reward track whenever you so please forever.
Even if you have run the dungeon in the past you will need to run it again after 4/15 to unlock the reward track. The reason for this is to put both PvE and PvP players on the same level once the 4/15 build hits. So PvP only players wouldn’t be the only people that need to run the dungeons on 4/15.
You can unlock the dungeons at anytime AFTER 4/15 regardless of where it is in dungeon track rotation. So on 4/15 if you complete the story mode of all the dungeons you will have all 8 repeatable dungeon rewards tracks available to you day one.
Personally, I would love to see a team of full PvPers run through a dungeon.
Guard: “Ok, umm, I’ll bunk boss?”
Thief: “kitten it Engi, stop knocking the mobs all over the place!”
Ranger: “Why are my spirits all dead?”
Necro: “Why are my minions all dead?”
Warrior: “I don’t understand why people think this stuff is hard, lololol.”
Eh the story modes aren’t hard though Arah does take a while to do. Just do them again on another character and unlock explorable on the ones you don’t have.
You will need to run the dungeons in story mode AFTER the update to permanently unlock the tracks.
That’s pretty disappointing.
So about those of us with our Dungeon Master title tracks completed—
Do we need to run the dungeon with each toon? Or can I run it with one toon, and all of my toons can progress? I will cry if I need to level up my lvl 11 necro that I PvP the most with to 80 for the Arah track.
I do not want to run story modes again – they weren’t fun the first time.
Games are supposed to be fun as the #1 priority or have you all forgotten that?
