Finally I can make The Ascension, 1000g WHAT?
One thing I noticed in this thread is the wrong usage of the word “PvE”. A legendary backpack is not a PvE item, since you can get it purely by playing pvp (even if noone played PvE, the T6 mats can be bought for laurels or looted in some boxes in the Glorious Reward Track). PvE means you have to kill environmental AI monsters. You don’t in that case.
Yes and no, it’s a PvE in the sense that it provides nothing to pvp players besides skin but has PvE stats, and there are some AI that you kill in the more popular PvP maps….. But yes you can get it Soley from PvP without having to step foot outside besides to use mystic toilet.
The only advice i can give you to make your work easier are:
- Transform laureals into T6 mats at the NPC in LA.
- Use the mystic clovers recipe to make T6 items. If it fails to make clovers it will give u T6 mats.
PvP actually offers you pretty good gold. For example doing the arah track and using the tokens to buy rare helmets to salvage for ectos. You also get a good number of boxes/lootbags. As well as exotics that can be either mystic forged or salvaged.
You also gain 2 gold a day from the daily. And the laurels you get from logging in can be used to get t6 mats which greatly reduces the value. You also get mystic clovers for completing the track lowering the number of times you may need to farm for that item as well. You actually get most of the items you need normally. You will however have to start focusing towards what your short on.
To put it into perspective. I made the ascension myself as a primarily PvP and WvW player. I did recieve aid from another player near the end. But he was helping me get the last two t6 mats that I needed (around 140 golds worth of assistance he sent me) it was a big help but something that would have been completed in a week or two if I played a bit harder than I usually do.
All mystic clovers and the like were gotten by my own means.
That attitude will change, after you go to the Auric Basin meta for an hour.
I never claimed it offered the best gold in the game. The point I was making is that it was more than possible to make the gift of fortune with what PvP gives you.
Within what kind of a time frame? A year of saving?
Running AB meta + SW meta for DR downtime will do it by the end of the week.
It’s like 100-200g a day running PvE metas for 4-6 hours of play.
10-20g a day running 20 PvP matches for 4-6 hours of play.
This is what people are comparing.
To be fair, I almost always farm PVP for my legendary crafting materials because its a whole lot easier and rewarding (minus Obsidian Shards). If you think its PvE’ers who get the bonus in Gift of Fortune, just try farming PvE for those T6 mats….it will not happen.
You people need to try harder to convince me expending 1000g to craft a PvP reward is acceptable. In my opinion is a joke, a bad one. Not going to change my mind about it.
If I ever get 1000g playing PvP, be sure I am not going to expend all that gold in that wings, obviously, the game has a lot of better things to use the gold. I was imagining The Ascension as an item to show people “I play PvP”, not “I am rich”. Bye, and have fun.
The Backpeice was obviously made for the pve community to do pvp so Anet can say pvp activity is up. You don’t need a Backpeice if you are a pvp only player.

That’s either the most trolly of all trolls I’ve ever heard or the just the most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard in this forum. One of the two.
You’re talking the difference in 10-20g gold made a day vs. 100-200g made a day. The PvE’er is clearly far more capable of attributing t6 mats through the trade post than the 10-20g a day PvP’er.
Wow you people are kind of creepy, it’s not so much that he didn’t know the components required I mean who cares. What’s gross is that a legendary spvp back piece requires a ton of gold when spvp dosent reward you with hardly any gold.
when you buy a game, you buy the whole game.
if you buy a movie ticket, and choose to only watch the ending credits, that is your choice.
I just finished mine and went from little over 1500 gold to 1144 gold. I used my existing T6 mats along with spending like 160 laurels on T6 mats.
I don’t PvE for kitten and I only spent 400-500 gold while still having 230 laurels.
Honestly not too bad imho
i always hated that part about legendaries.
the requirement for 8 × 250 tier 6 fine crafting materials.
absolutely ridiculous.sure i may have 3.5k gold but i ain’t spending any on buying those tier 6 fine crafting materials.
The Predator was worth it XD (Rodgort the first well before that)
I’m never going to want gold for anything else ever (done with the game aside from the casual pvp), so might aswell enjoy blasting people on a rifle war
hmm aye the predator makes nice pew pew sound but i prefer the thok thok sound of toy rifle plus i’m really a miser who enjoys watching my wallet gold climbing up steadily.
the only time i really splurged much was the winters presence. for that one it i spent 600++ gold or more on buying gift and drinks. in the end i over bought and had to sell back. i guess back then i like the snow effect on my necro, well reaper was stronk back then.
6181571NeHoMaR.9812:How in this world a PvPer is going to make 1000g?
Salvage greens? Common mats sell pretty well and you will get a lot of MF leading to better stuff from track chests. You can also toilet end chest exotics -> sell the result for some golds.
Hey, I wanted to make The Ascension this weekend, but there are kittening time-gates in the achievements. No idea why they would add time-gates to a pvp based legendary. Really, That’s all I need.

Cos the actual achievements aren’t really that rough for competent players who don’t end up on the business end of the farcical MMR system. Could be farmed in a week or less under the right conditions.

Yeah, but adding timegates to stretch out content is just bad design. If people want the legendary, they are going to get it. Plus we are in S3 already, so timegates shouldn’t exist right now.
As someone posted above, the exclusive reason for the pvp backpack is to increase overall pvp activity-> more pve players into pvp. These kind of players will just go back to pve after achievements are done and farm whatever gold they need in a very short time.
U could say that the backpack is directed to them to begin with, the rest are still a minority. Trying to find reason is irrelevant since its all about promotion.
