Honestly I don’t have as much time to keep up with this stuff as I used to. I thought no new glory would be earned after patch, not that it was disappearing completely. If I had more time to read the development posts I probably would have known, but as it stands I lost like 700k glory that I could use to get skill books for my alts to try the new traits and theory craft for my team.

The funny thing is Kensuda months ago I asked and got a dev response which was the following question, although just adding that your probably not a casual player, “What about people who have alout of glory and don’t spend it? Are you going to comp them in some way for not being on your website and checking in? Or are you going to just give them the shaft?” They responded with something along the lines of, "Well we will give several reminders to tell players to spend their glory before the patch. So technically the answer was no.

If you did not spend your glory you had saved up before the patch, you are out of luck, which is pathetic. There should be a vendor in place, personally it’s crappy management and downright lazy to just delete a currency without a way to spend it AFTER patch. Give us a vendor after patch for christ sake. Don’t pressure the community will spend their glory regardless if they weren’t in the loop. They might have changed their minds as to what they would spend their existing glory on.

Shame on arena net for not giving a glory vendor. Personally you spat in the faces of the veteran players because you were too lazy to implement one after the fact. I understand organization, but this is downright ignorance.

A random bug that took a few hours to correct is way different than the removing of glory that has been communicated over the last two months.

Perhaps people should accept some personal responsibility over their glory loss instead of looking to blame the other guy. Anet overall did a good job with this patch.

It’s an example of how unpredictable and unreliable their communication is. Thus, it’s hard to blame players for lack of being informed when we never know where to look.

And I have accepted all responcibility on my part. I also came to the forums first to see if anyone was in the same boat, and since there are, it would be nice if anet also took responcibility for their part.

The rest of the patch is outside of this issue, just because the rest was great isn’t an excuse to ignore what’s wrong.

I came back to the game recently after a break and realized that I lost all my glory that I saved up (i guess 300-400k). I read that it has been removed. Yes you can imagine that I am not necessarily happy about that. So I am asking Arenanet to refund my glory and reintroduce a vendor where i can spend it.

To anyone who says that they announced it etc., i don’t care. When I took a break from GW2 I didn’t have anything to do with it.

It’s like if a pve player takes a break from the game and after a while he comes back and you tell him: “Sorry. You should have spent your gold. Gold was removed from the game.”

That means I put all my time on this game earning glory instead of gold. In my opinion it just isn’t the correct way to handle things, to take away something that has already been earned and it doesn’t really contribute to motivate me to continue on playing this game.

I hope Arenanet acknowledges this. Thanks for reading.

I did spend my glory but i had unused finishers i bought from the gemstore in my pvp bank.
They didn’t mention anything about removing those and the response on my ticket was no refunds.
So i don’t think you could get any refund on something they did mention that they were going to remove, as they don’t even give refunds on items bought with gems being removed without a warning.

The thing is a lot of people are returning, and while we were gone, there was no notification to us.

I too am angry because not only did I lose over 750,000 glory, but I also lost over 600 match win reward chests.

The thing is, this kind of stupid move makes people want to leave again after returning, so its a bad move for anet indeed.

That sucks, but uhh.. There were notifications on the GW2 twitch, Reddit, Facebook gw2 front page, gw2 forums, and some other sources… FOR MONTHS.
If you cared at all about it then you would have seen it.
So why care about it now?

I’d say suck it up.. :/ The rewards from chests sucked anyway.. and if you stockpiled 500 of em it probably means you had all the skins already, all you missed out on was like 3% magic find and carpal tunnel.

750k Glory was probably around like 400-600 gold on christmas though. and possibly Cultural armor.

As far I can remember I stopped playing GW2 with r48/49 (got promoted to r55 it seems) in December 2012. So maybe I lost more glory than mentioned above. But whatever… decided to stop playing GW2 once and for all now. That incident made the decision even easier (and that people who missed it will have to pay for living story 1 if they want to play it).
I am even surprised that there still is no other PvP gamemode (besides conquest) implemented yet although I expected it to be released shortly after the Beta originally, but yeah, that’s another story.
Thanks Arenanet. GW2 is a good game (although an experiment with many flaws I think it’s worth the money), especially for casuals, but pales in comparison to GW1 in my opinion.
