Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Gold From SPVP
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Participating in a qualification for monthly GvG (took us like 1 hour) awarded 12 Zaishen keys, almost the price of an elite-armor set.
Casually playing RA/HA/GvG/codex/JQ also gave like 2 Zaishen keys a day, later when zaishen quests and match win chests were added, I could make 5-10 Zaishen keys in some hours + the boxes that had the same value + zaishen coins from the quests.
I’ve earned more money than some PvE farmers by actually just doing PvP on casual level! Imagine the ones holding Halls for hours or the ones winning GvG monthly tournaments.
What do you mean for “match win chests”? I never heard about them.
About Zaishen Quests, you weren’t able to get a single ZKey doing the PvP quest as far as I remember.
Quests gave Balthazar faction and were repetable.
A chest for exaple:

You got this for every 5th cons. win, however it was added only in 2010-’11 or so.

And the best part is that you made 0 direct income from PvP, so absolutely 0 infaltion.
Yeah, balthazar faction is what glory is now, you could spend 5k points to buy a zaishen key. You could use they key to open a chest that can drop basically almost everything from very rare swords to drinks. You also had a rank for opening hundreds of these chest and these ranks had special emotes. So even PvE player were interested and bought the keys in huge amounts, giving PvP players loads of money.
It took bad players more time to farm these things, so you were rewarded for being good. Also, match win chests had unique loot and were also tradeable, you got 1 after 5 consecutive wins in random arena (soloque), 1 after each GvG win and so on for many different gamemodes, with many slightly different chests.
PvE players farmed the money and you could sell things to them. So again, 0 inflation. Best system ever.
I gotta admit. That sounds perfect. It wouldn’t be the end all fix to the issue plaguing PvP. But my god i wanna say thats like 50% of the problem. dd in some flashly lights, a gem store item, and post it on the front page and bam you got people from all around pvping.
U can get tons of gold from selling dyes. U can create dye in mystic forge by mixing elements gained exclusivly in pvp.

Sad part of the story is that is extremely time consuming, and that you can’t sell them undiscovered.
Countless times i made 50+ dyes just to make a couple of golds.
Random, time consuming = unfun.
I think old Gw1 keys would be perfect.
Gold in tournament chest wins is fine too, at least it will bring more players to tPvP.
gold in pvp is an issue, but matchmaking system is much more pressing issue and it is our priority

matchmaking issues exist because people don’t play.
People dont’t play because there’s no incentive to do so.
Gold from tournaments would be a good incentive for the average player to play tPvP.
Fixing the leaderboards ( so that you’re rewarded if you play more instead of playing less) would be a good incentive for the competitive part of PvP.
We need both, because without a good population, matchmaking issues will always be there.
Gold in tournament is an horrible idea.
It will create an huge inflation making the cost of gems rising even more.
Zaishen Keys, as it has been said, are perfect because they don’t bring more golds into the economy but, instead, they give PvP players a valuable item they can sell and get gold from PvE farmers, which are the main source of gold in the game.
Those are an item exclusive to PvP, so it doesn’t conflict with a previous PvE economy.

+1 I believe gold is not the answer, but rewards should go to tournament players not hotjoin heros.

Of course, otherwise we will only incentivate Skyhammer farming.
Out of my 500 match win chests I made about 400 dyes. From those 400 dyes I was able to make about 85 gold. Assuming I have a win ratio of 50% (it is actually closer to 70) I am making about 1 gold per match.
meant to say silver…. and missed a number. Bad proof reading skills is bad.
Am I good?… I’m good.

500 matches…. 85 gold… 1 gold per match?
85/500 = 0.17
17 silver per match.
Also I find this to be anecdotal evidence at best.
I know one guy who spent 500k glory on buying chests and salvaging them that guy now has carpal tunnel syndrome.

Yeah I’d rather just get a second job and buy the gems. Those chests are never getting opened.
Suggestion
Rank points (from all spvp, but unaffected by boosters) could be converted to gold.
Tpvp wins could be rewarded with tradable skins.
The second part seems fairly crucial if you want to create an spvp economy, not just a way of avoiding purchasing gems.
However we work this, inflation seems necessary, unless you plan on making a seperate currency for the exchange of spvp items (like making glory tradable). That would make the exchange rate for gems ridiculous unless the stuff purchasable with glory was REALLY good, however.

This.
Plus I have a hard time believing that you can make 400 dyes from 500 chests. Since you don’t even get 1 sliver or enough to craft one sliver from 2 chests most of the time.
