Its Guild Wars because of the historical event that happened, not because you are fighting GvG. Inform yourself before acting kittened.

Well done Captain obvious! Your either incredibly dense or don’t understand sarcasm. The who point is the game has NOTHING to do with guild wars. Its like naming a game World War 2 and setting it in the 1960’s.

3. Create GvG – Solutions for more PvP modes
A GvG mode wouldn’t be that hard to create;
I – Name the PvP maps “Guild halls”. They can be chosen when you create a guild for a little money.
II – Create a Guild based rating not a player based. Also create a Team based matchmaking. —> You can only play GvG when you represent your guild.
The thing about GvG is the feeling of achieving something as a Guild! I think with GvG available more PvE guilds would start to play pvp! With “playerladder” and not team based PvP you don’t get the feeling of a “team”.

LOL what a noob! The game is called guild wars! why would having guild vs guild ever be a good idea?
I can’t think where anyone got the idea from :P

yes, of course. a pvp focused game with its most famous mode being guild vs guild isn’t named for that, but some obscure event in lore that is mentioned exactly 2 times in the entire game.

Starcraft. Dota and LoL. Counter-Strike. Those games are truly ‘too competitive’, with a priority of balancing for the 1% and the competitive scene, yet still are played by massive amounts of casual players that still deem it fun.

I miss the point where these games are MMOs. It’s a totally different gametype with totally different desires.

Let me quote the post directly above yours:

They are esport monsters today. However, anyone can step in right now and begin enjoying the esport monster game without being there from the beginning when the game was casual and “focused on fun” before progressively getting more competitive.

That assumes competitive != fun , but that is simply not true. You can have competitive gameplay with potential for a high skill ceiling while still being fun. HOWEVER, there will always be those people who don’t find that sort of stuff really fun. Always.

Well, what do you do then? Water down the gameplay and lower the skill ceiling so they can find it acceptable? One particular audience can’t and won’t be satisfied with all aspects of the game if the game has different modes meant to satisfy different audiences.

And that is why many people are upset.

It’s called Guild Wars because it’s the brand they’re “stuck” to. An obscure historical event is just an “flavorfully excuse” for the title, as it could very well be called, and more accurately, Dragon Wars or Tyria Online.

Alert: constructive, somewhat long and sad post:

Since you ask for constructive:

- Slow down the game, a lot, there is a reason why fps games have only 3 or 4 buttons, grenades, shoot, change to pistol, etc. they are fast, since they are fast you cant really put too much thought in what are u going to do, the thought there is in flanking so u can catch the enemy and knowing the map helps a lot, but that’s it. This is an MMO with or should have team game, with supportive builds and stuff, u can’t really have this speed, because in the end, what people do is pre-set rotations of skills.

- Put way way way more cooldown to every skill from 3 to 5, and made it so that this skills are for more damage, aoe, cc, supportive skills, boons or conditions. Honestly, i would like to see energy management also.

- Make conditions and boons a lot stronger, make it so that they are only availabe in utilities, elites or skills 3 to 5. The same with condition cleanse and boon removal.

- This game need also animations related with the enemy skill being used, some are really good, like the greatsword of the warrior 2, but with asuras and necros, for example, it’s hard to see what the hell is going on. Cast bars won’t be a bad idea, i know you hate them.

- Evade is cool, but it’s being used too much, the regen is too good, and there is too many sigils, boon, traits, that give more evade. Evade is to evade those 3 to 5 skills or utilities or elites, not to evade every 4 seconds.

- Allow for trully supportive specs, i know you hate the trinity (you have something called the guardian and ele, so you still have a trinity, a nerfed healer and tank, but still a healer and tank). Since u hate trinity, i can think of supportive specs: cc, condition cc, boons, condi cleansing, boon removing.

And now the sad part, we know this won’t happen, at the rate they are doing changes it will take 10 years or more. And i don’t blame you, you are tying to make money not lose it, and the pve is making money so gw2 is a success. I just ask that u stop putting money into stupid things like PAX, just add more gamemodes, maybe someone will play the game. It will never be an esport, but still with more gamemodes it will be more played, well maybe, and since there is no way to fix the spvp of this game short of remaking it, it’s the only thing u can do.

In fact, they planned “WvW like gvg” for the first game and hence the name. However, apparently that was technically too difficult at the time so they made up this nonsensical lore to explain the name.
