-balance. (I mostly care about you know what).
-more game modes, but not pure TDM.
-rework sigil and runes. Make them not RNG based and obvious.
-Instant unavoidable skill high damage skills bye bye.
-Increase TTK ratio
-Less spammy combat.
-rework the way stats work.
I suggest making power main damage stat, hp counter to condition and toughness counter to power. Give players the option of choosing critical damage or condition damage.

Queue system similar to Dota2. 10 players get selected and shuffled. Map is loaded. 10 players must click ready within 30 seconds. If someone does not or if there is less than 10 players, the match is aborted. Not pressing ready is also treated as being AFK and be subject to a stacking penalty similar to what we have already.

-Templates (armor, weapons & sigils, runes separated)

-Gain Gold/Unique Currency (convertable to gems). If Unique Currency, be able to buy pvp exclusive skins or simply all the skins that aren’t available to PvP right now.

-Monthly Seasons with rewards and titles. Not sure if it should be for each game mode or a “mixed game modes” season for when we get other modes. (hint: trimmed capes)

-Visible MMR

-Merge the mists from different servers

-Duel in the mists

-Level up through sPvP

-More achievments

-Tutorials and the like(e.g. default builds + explanation) for new players(alrdy going on by guilds and streams but ingame would be nice aswell)

-Remove Skyhammer

-Fix for afk’ers and 4vs5’s

-New game modes(TDM,CTF,GvG)

-Better MM for TeamQ: do not put teams made of multiple parties against teams made of 1 party

1. Add a new island where you can duel other people – or add dueling to the arena in the Black Citadel.

2. Make it so people don’t get into matches with people who are more than 9 ranks higher than themselves.

3. Make it more clear what awards top-stats achievements.

4. Let gear keep the sigils/runes when you deposit them. I like to have a lot of skins to switch between, but when I also do PvE I use the ‘deposit collectibles’ button a lot, and I hate having to keep putting everything back on every item.

5. Increase the rewards(preferably rank points) if you managed to win a match where your team had say 50 points, and the other team had 300.

6. Add a description to each piece of gear in the wardrobe so you can see which rank you need to be in order to unlock it.

7. Add more lists to the scoreboard – show how many kills people have, how many times they have died, how many times you’ve dodged or blocked an attack etc.

And please allow us to hide our back piece in sPvP.

Tbh I dont see why leveling in sPvP is needed given that level is 100% irrelevant in sPvP anyway. I am affraid it would bring more leechers and such into the games. When I do PvP, I do care about winning matches. If I dont win, I am never happy no matter what consolation rewards they will throw at me. Having leveling in sPvP would mean more people in matches who dont give a kitten about winning.

- Redesign skills so high damage or good control skills are very telegraphic and relatively easy to avoid.
- Put the freaking leaderboard rank in the games instead of the farming rank.
- Make buffer and control builds possible and viable (the op build that does control and crazy damage is not a good idea).
- Nerf every class to the point of the pre-immune to everything warrior.

  • Make HotM 2 big servers – 1 for EU and 1 for NA pvp playerbase, for example Blacktide Hotm is a ghost town…. I know, maybe some improvments in serves to don’t make Overflows
  • Rewards including all skins – Azureflame, Whisperblade etc YES FOR LEGENDARY WEPS
  • Game modes: a CTF, a JQ “Style” map
  • MAtch making – I don’t want to be matched vs ppl who don’t know what to do and play pvp for 5th time while I play with and vs such ppl – it’s REALLY annyoing, it’s about who get worse newbs….
  • Balance -> fix s/d thiefes, spirit rangers, regen signet/hammer/lb wars, condi bomb necros, bunk engis – nerf them smart but not to the ground. Also lower ele’s dps a bit (fresh air?) but give em a bit more surv coz they die so easily now. They do big dps/bursts but r 2easy to kill.
  • Template saving – I got 3 mesmers coz I don’t wana re-trait everytime I want to play other spec – annoying. Why not in-game still?
  • Fix Foefire wall bugs – im tired of blinking into walls by accident…
  • ROLLBACK SKYHAMMER FARMERS
  • Make some nice dueling arena’s (like 3-4 nicely designed maps, a Coloseum style or some Fire arena etc), so it’s not held in Legacy anymore
  • Punish leavers MORE + fix report system, so can report ppl for AFKing
  • Add /resign like in GW1
  • Add max 2 per class each side – fighting vs 3 necros or 4 wars, while u don’t have any, or 3 eles is not fun
  • Add some gold to chests for wins – God bless that pve contect that gave ToT bags instead chests, at least I made some cash for dyes
  • Fix Aoe – it’s really too much of everything. Sometimes U kill stelthed thief just by accident while spamming Aoes lol
  • Again, improve match making. Like much improve. Or match ppl like r1-10, 10-20, 20-30 etc (ofc u rollback skyhammerfarmers so there are no faillords with 50 or 60+)
  • Ability to spec tpvp matches. I’d like to spectate how some team played vs other, how their mesmer played, what they did wrong, why lost/won etc

  • create 3 ques: unranked (queue with up to 3 friends) – (SoloQ Ranked – as is) – (Team Q – only queue with full 5 teams)
  • Any ranked tournament has to be gated. Preferably with 25 wins in the unranked q. There is 0 reason why a new player should ever go into a ranked match.
  • TeamQ leaderboards be teams, not players
  • Leaderboards need permanent decay
  • Put a “i’m ready to join” button prior to a soloq match starting (fixing 4v5s)
  • Have level scrolls (like in wvw) have a chance to drop from a tournament win chest (to provide a way to level in PvE without having to suffer through PvE). Also gold drop. The main carrot that keeps many people playing is the “chance to get an item”. GW2 has messed this up completely. There should be few raw materials that drop from chests with a small chance of “cool” items, (like the scroll idea). There should then be a set recipe to craft EXACT items with specific recipes. Having a chance to get an item in a chest is fun and excited. Having a chance to craft an item with certain raw materials is maddening.
  • Don’t allow purchased skins available in PvP (if the only thing to gain in PvP are skins, and I can buy the best looking skin for 10 bucks, why PvP?)
  • Remove ranks from the game. They mean nothing, they were abused to a point where you can’t trust anyone’s rank. Axe them. Show leaderboard rank or % instead.
  • Tone down everything passive (healing signet I’m looking at you)
  • Add dueling in the mist (i know so many people don’t understand how much help that would be. I don’t want to explain it if you can’t grasp it. Just know that it should have been in day 1 and has caused more issues than you know by not being in.)
  • Make a skin system different in PvP. Make it “unlocked” for use in PvP. Get rid of the PvP locker. It’s cumbersome to swap characters, swap gear, and don’t get me started on stacking like items
  • Make many different game modes. It doesn’t matter if they are all unranked. They HAVE to be here to prevent stagnation. This has been a major catalyst to the dwindling PvP numbers.
  • Remove skyhammer from rotation. It would be a great deathmatch map or something, but it shouldn’t be in the conquest ranked rotation.

I worked for my 50 for a year on tournies, to get armor, bear finisher and now just remove? Coz idiots farmed skyhammer? Allie said: they knwo who and how much. So ban/rollback them all.

Something to prevent:

-Skill spam (cast bars, energy system).
-AoE spam (thus reducing the visual clusterkitten).
-AI play (make pets important ONLY IF you use their actives properly).
-Passive skills and traits need their importance reduced.
-Once you’ve managed to ‘slow down’ the game, take a good look at how vigor and endurance regen mechanics work.
-Remove perma CC stacking from just one source (if you want to keep a player locked down, it should be a team effort).

4. Legendaries should only be obtainable by a bi-weekly tournament that everyone can take part in. If your team is 3rd-1st place you have a chance of selecting your own legendary.

- Scale back overall damage so that you actually have a chance to survive a 1v2 and slow down the pace of the game so that spectators and shoutcasters don’t need to bounce around all over the place just to keep up

- Scale down the particle effects and either add casting bars or make casting animations easier to see

- Increase the camera range so that I can better see what’s going on in the battle field

- Less passive abilities so that necessary counter abilities require more skill and timing to use

- Different game types (TDM, CTF, KotH, GvG, MOBA-style, etc.) and larger maps (especially for 8v8 and up)

- Reduce access to multiple conditions (no one should have it all)

- Better queue system for both hotjoins and tpvp (queuing into a match means committing and leaving hotjoin matches should punish you like wow’s battlegrounds) and let players queue hotjoins together so that players can actually play with friends and guildies (no more auto balance if the queue system and leaver debuffs are similar to wow’s)

- Some kind of dueling area in the mists or like wow when two players duel, they can only do damage to each other

- Merge the Mists between all servers so that all pvp’ers can be in one place or split between NA and EU only so that can promote a unified community

- I don’t want to bring up balance until more game modes are created because an op build now might not be as effective on a different game type, as long as overall damage is reduced first

*Add a capture the flag game mode.
*Add new maps every 3-4 months and then test them thoroughly before adding them to the tournament rotation.

*Let us save templates.
*Let us wear pvp skins anywhere.
*Give us something to do in the mists or just remove the area. It’s depressing to wait there between tourny pops, but you don’t have enough time to do something elsewhere.
*Advertise pvp in game and on the forums. Generate hype to get more players to try out spvp.
*Feature prominent teams and players on your website. That’s an inexpensive way to generate some interest in pvp.
*Add a report player for afk option and then punish players for intentionally throwing matches.
*In tournaments limit the number of people playing the same class per side to two. Facing a team of four engineers is just cringeworthy.
*Overhaul pvp rewards; let us work towards legendaries, skins, mini pets, finishers, gold.
*Provide an incentive to form a team and play in team queue. For example, provide additional rewards/titles.
*Let people permanently advertise their teams in the group finder thing. No one uses it and recruiting for a team through the forums is tedious.

Want a lot of things but IMO the next 3 things will improve a lot the SPVP game experience:

- Deatchmath mode: the first team winning X matches.
- Dueling mode: 1v1, the first with no hp lose.
- GvG Deathmatch: Same as deathmatch but only members in the same clan can suscribe.
- LoL game mode: Conquering enemy bases until you destroy his lord.
-Templates: i will love to have this, encouraging players to test new builds.

As I’ve said it almost every other thread:

More Manpower working on basic sPvP systems, like matchmaking and ladder (for kittten’s sake, after a whole year, the ladder still displays only 1000 players, everyone else is in some %s and there is no search)

*Working matchmaking and leaderboards
*Players being rewarded for their time spent in sPvP in general (some glory, basic skins, achievements)
*Players being more rewarded for their time spent in Rated matches (more achievements, better looking skins, titles)
*Players being even more rewarded for their position in the ladder (unique skins, titles, finishers, icons(like the star for 100% world completion)) (once the first bullet point is accomplished)

*Templates! and the ability to remove single points from trait lines
*Cross region play – EU and US playing together – like, you know, Guild Wars 1)
*GUILD KITTEN CAPES with different trims and stuff – like, you know, the ORIGINAL GUILD WARS!

  • removing downed state/rallying (or making it optional in CAs) is the single biggest improvement possible IMO
  • conquest is not a good game mode for PVP (patently obvious for some time now…)
  • open up a test server and trial stuff earlier with players before ramming it down our throats in a finished/final state (and then failing spectacularly because it misses the mark)
  • lack of skill choice/build diversity/trait balance is still pretty appalling after 12months
  • still way too much RNG
  • still way too many auto-aimed attacks
  • gameplay still way too spammy (probably unfixable due to no resource system)

The most concerning thing for me is the complete lack of willingness to change in the face of 12 months of continued & abject failure to gain any traction for sPVP with players.

Mostly, I’d just copy Guild Wars 1. I don’t understand why a company that had such a dominant pvp game is having trouble given all that experience. Seriously, go copy GW1.

  • Scale rewards based on performance. The paradox that WvW is being rewarded based on “performance” (air quotes) while sPvP isn’t is completely baffling. GW1 rewarded winning streaks (well, their form of a small ad-hoc ladder); why not add things like that? Why not reward players based on MMR?
  • Add some casual maps that give pve rewards. JQ and FA were fun and brought in casual pvpers. I’d love to see them in GW2.
  • More map types. People have listed many of them. Alternatively, go copy the GW1 maps. It may seem lazy, but there are a lot of people that didn’t GW1 and they are already designed.
  • Have pvp impact pve. The luxon / kurzick boundary was a cool mechanic.
  • PvP should give experience. It did in GW1, why’d we move away from that?
  • Some pvp and pve, non-account bound rewards. Zaishen keys were a form of currency! You could buy pve heroes! You could buy skills! Balthazar faction was worth a lot; while glory is nothing more than an extremely convoluted method to get skins or dye. That makes me sad.
  • Boosted reward events. This only works if you fix the pvp rewards. That said, I remember switching activities because of the weekend events GW1 used to run. Maybe you should consider doing the same in GW2.
  • Add some sPvP stuff to guilds. Maybe a weekly mission. Maybe a glory booster. Seriously, there is nothing right now.

Change the end-of-game screen to rank players based upon the rank points/glory awarded, and not their ‘personal score’. Remove the red/blue sides of the screen and replace it with a singular table of all the players, color coded by team.

This will enforce the idea that solo contribution matters little if you dont help your team win.

The main way for me that sPvP will see improvements across the board is if the population increases. To do that we need better tutorials, and free trial weekends on separate servers so people can try the game.

I would love to then see new gametypes, especially including arenas. I don’t doubt that balance changes will continue, though I’d like to see them more regularly, but the new gametypes would bring about new metas and different specs which would make combat more interesting.

In balance terms, they need to reduce the effectiveness of passiveness, either increase condi removal or nerf condi application (I main Necromancer but this is a much needed change) and work on rewarding more difficult builds. I also feel AoE needs to be slightly reduced, but if people complain massively about aoe I generally feel that is an indication of bad positioning. Its a pain on a downed body but there has to be some kind of counter to the res mechanic.

Rewards obviously need a rework too, and I think thats coming.

I feel that custom arenas as a way to monetize pvp didn’t work. Aside from the lack of options for customizing arenas, most people don’t want to pay for the ability to design a map when a game like Starcraft provides that for free. GW2 custom arenas should have all of the above but for free. On top of that, to have to pay to keep it active doesn’t make sense.

The money lies in customizing your character. Having paid access to most of the skins (not all of them though) and dyes would generate a lot more money. It doesn’t hurt gameplay and if people want rewards through pvp, there should be a special set of skins, dyes, etc. for those who have earned it. I would spend more in the gem shop, but the selection is very limited for pvp players. I bought Primeval Heavy armor set when it came out and would by the Phalanx set too if I didn’t spend so much time on my Necro. The lack of good light armor skins (Profane and Trickster are really ugly) and dyes keep me from spending any more money in the cash shop.

I would rather put out money for things like the Scythe Staff skin and lots of dyes (although dyes should be account bound not character bound), since I don’t pvp at all and don’t plan on doing it ever. But I’ll happily open my wallet for more skins cause I’m limited to what I have through pvp and don’t have much gold to buy the skins that other players offer in the auction house.

  • Remove MMR adjustments for losing a 3-4v5 (players should not be penalized if one or more of their teammates is absent for the majority of the match).
  • Make alterations to the select team and change team functions in hotjoin (it should not be possible for players to create lopsided matches; e.g., use shuffling)
  • Balance condition damage relative to power/precision/crit damage (a single stat should not be on par with a 3 stat investment)
  • Add gold and/or gems to match win reward chests (it should be possible to obtain custom arena kits/tokens and various other gw2 goods strictly through pvp).
  • Introduce a 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 gauntlet-style dueling arena (with a spectator mode) inside the Heart of the Mists (it should be possible for players to experiment and fight each other outside conquest and custom arenas).
  • Introduce events and event tokens to the Heart of the Mists (player’s should given the ability create fun and challenging activities of their own; e.g., games of skill).
  • Redesign the Heart of the Mists and make it multi-server (currently, the Mists on most servers is a dull and underpopulated place; it should be reworked).
  • Increase the cadence of pvp content/balance patches (not enough resources are invested in the pvp community; 3 months or more is unacceptably slow).
  • Introduce new pvp maps with interesting environmental mechanics (for example, the theme for one map could be styled after a jumping puzzle, where the secondary objective would involve a way of obtaining a team-wide stability buff).

I’ll say it: I love conquest mode in tournaments, and I don’t want it to get changed!

There is a problem with the report function. There is one guy, who is flaming and harassing people in soloq since month, and got reported multiple times (he even got his own thread here on the forum) but nothing has happened… he is still playing and still insulting other people.

The biggest problem I’d say is the low pvp population. I think you have created a great and awesome game, which is fun to play, but unfortunately it is attracting too few people. The problem here is the devils circle, with a low pvp population you get rated matches with a huge difference in the mmr, leading to unhappy players quitting tpvp, and to an even lower pvp population.
1.) I think the first step should be to attract the pve and wvw players to get into pvp, increasing the pvp population slightly. To solve this problem, it will be necessary to implement pve rewards into the pvp reward system. This should include money, skins and something to show off in the pvp environment like titles, finishers and emotes.
2.) A reworked pvp reward system and a new pvp league system (similar to something like league of legends or starcraft and now even hearthstone has) should attract people from outside the game. I think you guys should really think about releasing an addon otherwise it would be hard to convince people that guild wars 2 is a great game and has everything you expect from a pvp game.

- two Play Now buttons:
- Play Now 5 vs 5 (Competitive)
- Play Now 8 vs 8 (Casual)
- buff weaker professions
- more game modes
- better rewards to attract players from WvW / PvE
- more flexible stats distribution
- instead of 1 amulet + 1 jewel
- make it 6 trinkets + 6 jewels
- amulet + jewel, back item + jewel, 2 rings + 2 jewels, 2 accessories + 2 jewels

I will never play this game competitively. It wants to be an fps, but real fps games are better. What would make me play pvp even a little bit would be:

  • update all skills to do less damage but have conditional and unique bonus damage or effects.
  • more weapons & skills
  • stop with boring conquest

man every time i see these threads i get so depressed thinking about all the good times i had in gw1, and then remember what a mindless spamfest this game is.

Some Thing that could be improve really easily :

- If necro can delay with his DS (Death Shroud) on condi & dps while can’t he be heal while he get it ? by that i mean if the guard is using the 4th skill on staff , the necro get nothing he should get heal on his HP bar or more DS thanks to the heal.

- Thief teleport on khylo you can teleport to the ledge from one side but not from the other !?

- We should be able to download some build in sPvP just like in gw1 , i mean for traits weapons and sets.

Increase the synergy with WVW and PVE:
- Be able to wear your PVP skins in WVW (cosmetic)
- Reward chests in tournament give small PVE rewards (rewards based on PVE lvl)

Centralised Heart of the Mist
- Group a few servers togethers to increase mist population

Improvements for Team PVP
- Not sure how popular TPVP is since the inception of Solo Arena but my guess is its extremely niche now. Maybe its time to change it up.
- Make Team PVP Guild vs Guild with a seperate Guild leaderboard along with the Personal Team Arena One
- Give Achievements + PVE/WVW rewards for GvG
- Have PVP only guilds that is seperate from PVE guilds for GvG.
- Have a Looking for Guild tool for sPVP only guilds

Other random things that would be nice
- Be able to create a profile page of your character that can be viewed by anyone in game
- Obviously new maps, new game modes, better balance, better rewards etc.

-remove sigil stacks
-make the lord a lot harder to kill
-balance unranked games based on an accumulated kill death ratio, damage absorbed/ mitigated, objective points captured
-improve the in match leader boards to actually show statistics
-limit how many stacks of conditions and their durations can be on one player at one time
-remake condition cleansing skills so that they remove stack(s) per tic or limit duration based on the condition
-rework the total amount of stunlocking that can affect one player over an amount of time (or give stability to the classes that need it)
-make extreme damage skills more costly
-replace worthless traits with useful traits
-remove death by falling damage so that the player respawns instantly with no penalty
-nerf the damage by trebs/ cannons/ skyhammer
-give pets and minions AI
-do not allow more than 2 professions per team
-maps made for 1v1, as well as for new game modes

Team Deathmatch for PvP – Raise the AoE cap for WvW – More unique events for PvE

As someone who’s still relatively new to SPvP (Rank 20 “hotjoin hero” here :p) I do want to suggest implementing stuff to help newbies learn attack cues and tells better. Particle effects need to be toned down across the board. And PLEASE do something about Asuras! I realize that many people love their animations (I’m one of them), but you have to admit it’s next to impossible to read them for attack tells, especially when they’re the smallest size, darkest color and dyed all black to blend into the effect spam all over the screen.

  • Allow PvE armor in PvP.(maybe a toggle to apply pve armor instead of the generic pvp one)
  • Create new, exclusive items obtained in PvP.

Both points are really complements. There is very little customization in PvP right now and with so many people spending time in PvE getting expensive armor, they should be allowed to use them anywhere. Don’t force people to obtain the same armor twice if they like their look, add new skins to PvP so people can modify their existing one if they choose. Also, make new skins trade able so PvP players have a gold reward and initiative to keep playing in addition to rare looks.

Short List:

Remove bad mechanics (AE hard counters)
Remove hotjoin, create unrated solo q (AE tournament start up can’t leave without punishment etc. BUT UNRATED.)
Rewards.
NO LEGENDARIES (fix animations obviously)
Class balance.
Continued improvment of mmr/mm
Fixed leaderboards… Anyone can exploit these with ease… (im top 25 on 2 accounts for both EU NA solo/team…So easy to exploit)
Do not reward skyhammer farmers.
Make tutorials (better ones)
Explain builds/traits to new players.
New modes? (not tdm…)
More balances patches not 1 month apart. (small 2 week ones would be amazing)
templates.
FIX immob problems (stacking/cleansing)
Fix the absurdly OP in a timely manner. ( not 4-5 months cough warrior cough, s/d thief cough)

Stop rolling out random nerfs/extreme changes without a DETAILED explaniation.
Weekly tournaments.
Public test server.

Hello!

I’ve seen sPvP improve massively, but there’s still something that’s holding me back from playing it.


  • an option to save builds (I’d keep the merchants where you can buy gear in HotM, but I would then add a separate UI where you could swap different gear and mix and match them together, which is where I’d add an option to save the builds; I would a min. quota of slots just like for character slots, where you could buy additional slots for gems)
  • I would add MMR or something that does matchmaking based on your skill and rank (they could work separately together; let’s say I’m rank 34 and the matchmaking would add me to a game where there are people of 30-40 rank playing and if there’s enough games or players it tries to find a game or people that share the same skill, be that the amount of wins, losses on that class or over all their account, or like in LoL the overall score, which could be the kills, assists and deaths combined into one score)
  • I would add an option to spectate ranked games
  • I would make all servers play together ; do note that I wouldn’t join HotM together where people wait, just matches

Now to the game modes…
Now I’m also stoked for other game types, but I would also like to see some change in the existing one, or create a CTP hybrid.


My first impression when I played it was that the game type sort of leans towards conquest type of play.
I’d love to see that capturing the point wouldn’t add to the overall team score, but add small boons/buffs to your team, so that might encourage players to hold points longer and in doing that they might be harder to capture. That imo would also add much needed variety to the existing game as well as make certain team builds more viable.
What I see here as small boons/buffs is something like 10% out of combat running speed/swiftness for all your team if it holds the windmill, faster swimming speed if it holds the waterfall, might if it holds the keep, fury for keep, vigor for clocktower, protection for altar and so on.
I know this would be a game maker or breaker if not done carefully, so the buff wound’t be a big one and specific buffs would be added to the maps where they can add something good to it but not make it really unbalanced.


If the game had some team bosses, when the team defeats the opposing team bosses (that team loses their base) the map could expand a bit and the opposing teams base would be pushed back. I know this might make it totally impossible for that team to break out of their base, so there’s my idea where buffs would become useful to really help that. Let’s say the bosses in the base are hard to kill, so they would require a full party to kill and in that moment the opposing team would have all the buffs at their disposal, if they decide to capture them ofc or they could decide to make the same killing blow to the opposing team.

Hopefully you have found something interesting here and that something sparked your imagination.
