Is anybody actually happy with Season 2?
Happened with me. I am not a pro in pvp but I am alright Sapphire at least or low tier Ruby. But my first match I was putted against a team whilst my team was 5 randomers so of course my team was destroyed.
This meant I was getting placed with the losers of matches against the winners. I am still in mid Emerald and now I am either stuck with half my team being in div 1 or my enemies being a team of varying size and maybe even 2 teams or even from a tier above so my w/l ratio is widening per game. I have quit doing it, I wanted the wing skins, 3 because I know the last will not be possible, but because Anet thinks pro pvpers and teams need a helping hand I will not be getting it soon or maybe ever.
If some of the people are so good then why do they need to be getting the best matches. If they are actually good then they should be able to work well with randomers. Instead they claim skill when most of their victories are because they went against a team that would never be able to beat them.
The only people who are happy with this are the ones riding the win train, teams and people who use match fixers and the lack of dishonour to switch class on the fly to win. I have heard alot of vet pvpers saying how steamrolling all their enemies is not enjoyable for them at all.
A league is a nice idea but the game has too few classes and classes that are op compared to others to have a truly fair league. People are leaving gw 2 because of this plus things that came with HoT.
Wvw is dead, this ranked is a joke and pve was short and is just multiple grinds.
If ls3 is a flop and the new expansion is bad then me and my girlfriend are going to stop playing and we have spent alot on gemstore, probably more than many free players will and some pvpers and as said we are not the only one. So I hope the new installments of content are spectacular then they will have to hope the new ideas are worth losing alot of players.
I’m thoroughly enjoying season 2, in fact I’m enjoying it much more than season 1. I find the matches to be balanced significantly better, and I’m seeing far fewer “shut-out” losses or wins than I did in S1, at least that’s been my experience in sapphire and, thus far, ruby. Maybe things will change for me in diamond, I can’t say.
Amber and emerald were a breeze to get through this season, I duo queued with a friend and we got on a few quick win streaks to blitz our way through in a couple of play sessions. Admittedly, I started a few weeks late into the season, so by the time I’d begun queuing, most high tier players had probably already moved into ruby or diamond.
I should note, I don’t consider myself a high tier player. I’m not bad, but I mostly stick to the current meta builds as they’re the most effective, so I really can’t claim full credit. Playing easy-mode DH bunker on home is, well, easy—most of the time.
Regarding MMR and pips, I think the current system works great. No, I don’t deserve an extra pip because my team beat the other team in a horribly unbalanced shut-out of 500-23, nor should that losing team lose an extra pip because they got matched against a more organized group of opponents. I’ve heard a few gripes in map chat recently about people being angry that they can’t get 3 pip wins anymore. Nope, you can’t. Work for it like the rest of us, even us “bad” players have to struggle through.
And realistically, if the sole reason you’re participating is to get the backpiece, and you don’t actually enjoy playing PvP, then no amount of good matchmaking or amazing rewards are going to make it fun for you. I’m an achievement addict just like so many others, and I do want the wings, but I primarily play PvP because I think it’s fun.
TL;DR: Season 2 is great. Play ranked if you enjoy it, wait until season 3 if you don’t.

The waiting until season 3 parrt would be sage advice if the seasons were shorter and closer together. Unfortunately, you’re basically saying to go play another game for several months.
