Q:

Good Evening everyone,

If I want to play with a friend in structured pvp could I hotjoin a game? When I was trying too earlier (since he was in my party), we couldn’t seem to hop into the same game. When I asked him to join the same server as me he ended up on the other team.

Am I just doing something horribly wrong or is it really not possible to do this?

I feel like this question might be tossed around a lot and I’m sorry if it agitates anyone.

The only way to do this consistently is to start a new game, and switch teams to his as soon as someone joins your team. But the very nature of hotjoin is random people playing each other, so truthfully free tournament play is the better option, and the one that is meant for playing with your friends.

Ya but what if you only play with 1 other friend. You cant just do a free tournament que with one other friend.

So if you are trying to play with 1 other friend or even 2 other friends in structured pvp you cant.

Hot Join Games – Cant get on same team. Just a Mess….
Tournaments – Need 2 other random people to play… not fun

Please let me know if I am wrong but I cant figure out how to play with my 2 other friends on this game in structured pvp. Very flawed pvp in my opinion.

Free tournaments are your best option—you don’t have to have a full party of five to start. Even though you’ll be put with three other random people, you’ll always be on the same team as your friend.

Hotjoin is like that to prevent premade teams from farming random players. Unfortunately, hotjoin is just bad all the way around right now. There is effectively no matchmaking in free tournaments or hotjoins, so your chances of having a close game are similar. Also, hotjoins rarely have more than half the players stay for a whole match—most just pop in and out for a minute or two at a time.

Even if you guys are just trying PvP for the first time, free tournaments are probably your best bet.
