Right. But since the game’s population is so small, it can’t be like that unless people are okay with queues taking 10 or more minutes to pop.

Higher rated usually means longer waiting times….but not in GW2. As long as the lower rated dude (who started playing today) waits in queue for a while he might end up in matches with or against top 10 players. Top 10 players that get close to insta pop vs that same guy.

Whats wrong with having a wow like system…where u have to queue during certain hours as higher rated player.

But the way the current matchmaking works does sort of work. If the matchmaking balances players to get a balanced result which would be a 50/50 win/loss ratio, then it comes down to the individual skill of a player to attempt to carry their team so that they continue to win, if they fail to do so they will lose and get pushed closer to the 50/50 ration right?

I always said that those points should be somehow factored into your ranking. How can a leaderboard give an accurate representation when your personal ranking is determined solo on the result of a team effort? A team which you cannot chose.

Because everyone has to deal with the randomness of teammates, disconnects, etc. Throughout dozens and hundreds of matches, those things become a statistical wash. The only constant is you and how much you contribute to a team.

The matchmaking actually works fine. The problem is a lot of you don’t check for your human inability to see the big picture and focus way too much on individual matches that go poorly.

The leaderboard, on the other hand, is far too volatile because it’s based on matchmaking rating instead of a more rigid personal rating. Once that’s fixed, it too will work fine. (Although right now it actually is an accurate measure of skill after dozens and hundreds of matches.)

I do agree that the match maker gets it right most of the time and the really messed up matches are a result of low population and player pool. What doesn’t work is the leaderboard, you could say that it is fair cause everyone has to deal with the same BS but that just means that it is broken for everyone.

WoW pvp isn’t dead like here so you don’t wait too long but imagine that in GW2 we’d be waiting 30 minutes queue’s just to fight the same ppl over and over.

ANet needs to revive pvp before they even contemplate a half decent rating system. I’d say roll it out with GvG, something that is bound to get pvpers back into the game. Ye that’s like 3 years from now tho.

Particle effect slider would be ‘too confusing’
