I FULLY understand why SPvP is about balance and why it needs to be that way, why it was made that way and why it should stay that way.
I’m simply suggesting an OPTION upon server creation to allow PvE gear in your server.
If you don’t want to fight no-lifers in amazing their gear, don’t join the PvE gear servers.
SPvP will remain untouched and people can test the gear that they spend the entire game acquiring.
The game literally gives no option for a bunch of friends to casually fight against each other with their pve items
This is all I’m asking for.
There is currently no way for friendly 1v1 duels or team based fights in PvE gear, why do we not even have an option?
Obviously PvE gear servers wouldn’t count towards rankings since they’d be unbalanced as soon as a noob enters, but Jesus Christ – people just want to duel and you people are acting like I’m demanding SPvP be removed from the game entirely.
It is not that I don’t have a fully geared PvE character. It’s that my PvP armour looks so amazing and I don’t really PvE, so what is the point. My guardian is a GOD. Do not let my NOT MAXED OUT GRINDY PVE look fool you.
You know, I’m not demanding that you be forced to play on these custom servers if they exist.
So far you haven’t come up with a single solitary reason or sound argument against the idea of PvE enabled custom servers.
I suppose there wouldn’t be much harm in it. It is kind of confusing that Anet can make a truly amazing, innovative design choice like PvP with zero gear grind/advantage, and players would still want the old way back. I can imagine that Anet wouldn’t want that to happen.
Also, I can see that it would cause more work for them. Right now, the PvE team can pump out new content/gear/stat combinations without having to worry about how it will work in PvP. If it’s too powerful in WvW, they’ll adjust it, like perplexity. But it’s not like there’s a custom server with full perplexity teams making everything miserable. (I know that perplexity has obvious counters, I’m just using it as an example.) In other words, anything that Anet officially sanctions they have to balance for, which would create massive headaches for people across multiple departments.
I dont get why so many are scared to have the devs add this?
this will only affect custom arena’s not hotjoin or Tpvp which will remain the same and use the amulet only system.
anet got themselves into this mess in the first place by trying to be esprtz and wow-clone at the same time with the 2 separate gear availabilities. should have whole game baselined in pvp and then add optional “extras” for pve but whatever too late now gg anet. anyway they’re not going to add this to custom arenas because it would divert players en masse from “proper” pvp, so have fun wasting your time posting pvers.
I like this idea. The more ways to get PvE players to try PvP, the better. I’d never play it, the gear is inherently imbalanced, which is why it isn’t currently allowed, but I don’t see it pulling players away from more balanced environments.
If you’re not playing to win, don’t complain when you lose.
Now that we can rent server with OUR money and set the rules, why not allow us use pve gear if we want to?
Also, we could choose to use tanks and planes. This is OUR money after all!
Ok, here is why this is a bad idea:
1) Population split – you would divide further the already divided PvP population (HJ, soloQ, tPvP) over something as trivial as skins and a few back pieces. So no.
2) PvP gives the same opportunities to everyone in this game. What you are saying is essentially: introduce something that creates an imbalanced system. So no.
3) Since when hardcore PvE people care so much about PvP that they want to bring their skin in the Mists? (frankly I doubt more than 0.001% of the player base cares about this idea, but this suggestion would for sure make a larger portion of the already wounded PvP population angry = pure loss in terms of number)
And if PvE players care so much about PvP, then there are already skins you can obtain in the mists by doing PvP. But PvE want to look cool the easy way in PvP. So no.
PS: how about they implement all these skins in PvP instead then?

I support this idea. After all, if someone wants to make a custom arena to test WvW duel builds or whatever, they should be allowed to.
As a trade, I want to be able to use PVP characters in WvW. Sometimes I want to use a new class in WvW and I don’t want to have to level to 80 on a whole new character. I don’t care if the stats are weaker, more limited, no food, etc – it’s better than running around with an upleveled beginning character.
Just because you pay, it doesn’t entitle you to any more benefits or rights… Some things just do not belong in certain areas. Maybe if Anet directly ported pve players directly to a custom room and back out into the pve world when they are finished… but that will never happen.
But I guarantee you, if you want a duel, go to wvw and roam around maximum 10 minutes and look for people who are in small groups obviously not doing much. Target, press P and invite/join. Kindly ask for a duel and there you go.
Recently, when SoS dominated EB I simply when up to the enemy spawn and sat there partying/bowing and had a mini duel arena on the side with 15-20 people watching. Partying and asking is the key
GvG and WvW aside. dont know why it was mentioned since we are already getting more attention as it is.

How can we get this noticed by the right people, that we want WvW geared dual/team fight arenas in SPvP?
I understand your passion, but this sounds like division by zero to me. There is a reason why the game was built the way it is: PvE and PvP are separated, with WvWvW being the only “bridge” between the two.
You should be posting this in the WvWvW forum, asking the developer company to fix whatever it is that disallows this kind of fights to occur there. I am very positive WvWvW is the place for it. I mean, you sure you can’t find some isolated wood somewhere and duke it out?
Just imagine the confusion of a new player after experiencing two different types of arenas, with very different build-making mechanics. At least now they ONLY have to get used to it once :p
