MM necro is getting ridiculous..
I just say. Warrior player.
as dreadlord hinted at, play mesmer and Moa the necro, all of their minions die,
then /laugh and murder them
or just kill the bloodfiend and then slaughter the necro, they don’t have stability or stun breakers since all of their utilities are spent on minions
it also helps if you have some sort of aoe slow (ranger barrage works nice) since most of their minions are melee, an aoe slow will nullify a large amount of their damage while you kite the melee minions and shoot the bloodfiend/necro
How about stating your class/build and asking people on the forum for help with beating an MM Necro instead of just yelling OP? I understand the game is not completely balanced, but maybe you’re not focusing on the right targets when fighting an MM Necro?

Well mm necros are indeed quite strong, but you dont need aoe to beat them. The best way is to keep your distance to the minions, the most dangerous are the melee minions and unless you get cced for a long time you should be able to keep them away from you (if not you will most likly lose), this will also reduce his selfhealing. Killing the bloodfiend can be a good idea as his life leach has roughly the hps of a warrior healing signet (i think its around 900 every 3 seconds). But its cooldown is, with 16 sec (traited), really low, so make sure to interupt the resummoning.
I dont know what class you play but as power necro i most of the time find them quite easy. But maybe thats because if the minions die i also get lf…
On my mediation guardian, they are a little harder to deal with then my power necro, but still manageble.
On my ele i find them really difficult but thats probably more that i suck with my ele…
But generally it is a long fight against mm necros.
@hihey most mm necros dont use the worm as its stationary and as mm necro you dont need a stunbreak as much (most of the damage comes from the minions anyway).

it honestly takes no skill to play. Its one of the many newbie builds that are still in tact to let new players get into pvp and actually do something.
Anything AI where the player literally doesnt have to do anything is only viable in pvp and for obvious reasons.
I can beat most MM’s but the amount of dmg/hp/toughness minions inflict/have is ridiculous. The best way to fix the MM/SR qq is to let players rally off of the minions/spirits. End of QQ because if youre going to basically bring a 6v1 then we should get to rally off them.
Also remove the aoe cap.

I would actually approve of being able to rally off all minions other than flesh golem since nobody would ever run minion necro again.
Honestly, minion necro isn’t even that good. It’s a decent 1v1’er or node defender and a terrible team fighter. The problem I have with minion necros is that they’re terribly boring to play against as well as horribly boring to play, kind of like clerics bunker warriors.

No, there are good 1v1 builds that can destroy mm necros. But i agree that a good mm necro is one of the hardest things to beat 1v1.
Like a lot of pvp matchups in this game I find my success vs mm depends almost entirely on what proff im playing. Meditation guardian? likely a loss. PU Mesmer or thief? Likely a win (too many stealths/teleports for ai to deal with). Ranger? hard fight but some luck as trapper. There is a lot of rock paper scissor in this games pvp
I have not seen minion mancers anywhere atleast in EU PvP. When I fight a minion guy, whether it’s a necro or ranger, I just take my time and destroy the most dangerous minions before focusing down the player who likely has no stunbreaks. If you take the whole forest head on then you can only blame yourself for losing.

Sadly , the only way to counter this is to jump in the aoe spam bandwagon. There is no other way around , no matter how good you are , nothing can be done against this broken build. The minions deal insane damage, they have CC, they throw condis on you… And the saddest part is that 0 skill is required to play this build.

i play MM necro in soloQ and as i can tell i pretty much roll any other MM necro out there in soloQ. and for those who cant beat a MM necro and always say OP and NO skill let me tell you i press every skill in my skill bar 20 of them in every fight 5 staff weapon skill, 5 minion skill, my 5 secondary weapons (scepter/dagger) skills and my Death Shroud skills thats 20 skills. all i see are QQ from newbs who complains everytime they lose to someone.

I’ve played a Minion Master Necromancer in PvP for a little while, and they’ve got their weaknesses:
1: Lack of stun-breaks/stability. All they’ve got is Flesh Wurm’s Necrotic Traversal, which is easily countered by killing it first. Conversely, their only crowd control comes from the Flesh Golem itself, which can mess up if timed badly. If a hammer warrior or any other control heavy profession manages to get close enough to stack them on a minionmancer, they’ve either got to tank through it with Death Shroud or use their Necrotic Traversal to get out of there.
2: Kiting the minions and focusing the necromancer themselves. Simply kill any ranged ones or ones with cripple attacks and you’re fine.
3: Attack and kite the minions away from the necromancer, then burst them down with AoEs or multi-hit melee attacks. Minions can’t be recalled actively like ranger pets can, and with all their minions dead, they’ve got between 30 seconds to a minute of being more vulnerable until they can re-summon them.
4: Polymorph Moa/Moa Morph. This utterly destroys all their minions if it connects, forcing them to retreat or die. Although (as far as I’m concerned) that’s an utterly skill-less way to deal with one, and using it makes you even lower than a minionmancer yourself.
And that’s without just ganging up on them like people in SPvP do anyways. So, this thread is silly.

An easy to play build that has good 1v1 potential, but can be outsmarted and has very litttle teamfight presence? Sounds pretty balanced to me.

MM mobility is kinda bad, sustain comes from minions pressuring your opponent and not being able to free damage you, so ye, little bit of aoe and CC and you’re pretty much dead. Balanced.

Can you MM players stop acting like your minions die in one on ones please. They have 9000+ base health with a trait that gives a 50% increase and 2000+ armor while you have 5-6 of them out plus yourself with an AoE cap of 5 targets. Even in multi vs ones they are almost unkillable if you don’t have someone with spammable AoE and the only one I can think of with that kind of AoE is a zerker staff Elementalist or your meta Engineer builds. Moa has an obvious animation and the Necromancer not dodging it needs to learn to play against his one counter that still has triple the cooldown of his highest cooldown minion.
Just focus their minions and kill them off. It really is NOT that hard, people.

MM is OP, easy to play, annoying to fight etc. etc. but the reality is that MM is not even good for PVP. Seriously how many necros from top 100 do play MM? Its garbage build that only can hold side point against 1 player. That is what annoys me the most, its bad build for bad players who are to bad to actually play a useful build.
I seriously hate more having MM mancer on my team than on enemy team.

You obviously haven’t tried power necro with Dagger/Focus and Axe/Warhorn. I can beat “most” MM’s and Condi necros with power necro without bringing anything other than Flesh Golem minion wise and nothing put into minion traits .

As much as I’d like to believe this, I just don’t see it. I use those weapons and I am a deep, deep power build…none of your utility skills, aside from full minions, make up for the low damage output of dagger/axe by themselves.
If you do really well with that build though, upload some videos cause you’ll change a lot of minds.

Dagger/Focus
Axe/Warhorn
Zerker Ammy
6 Lyssa Runes
Well of Suffering, Spectral Armor and whatever your preference is. I’ve been using Well of Corruption lately. Bone minions, spectral wall, etc all fit in nicely. I use Flesh Golem as elite.
What people don’t realize is this build can put out INSANE damage. I mean probably the most of any class out there.
Throw focus up close, it bounces like 3 times at 1.5k each hit, immob with dagger 3, drop both wells, instantly pop DS (for the increased crit), DS 2 for chill so they can’t escape, fear and lifeblast til dead.
Lifeblasts in this build hit for 5k on squishies and about 2.5k on heavy. The burst with wells is incredibly strong. Survivability comes from the rapid life force generation along with the CC of Doom and Warhorn. You have Flesh Golem knockdown, immob from dagger, immob from DS 5, Chill from focus, cripple from axe etc. It’s a beast to fight against.
Condi’s aren’t an issue with heal and full Lyssa rune set.
This will beat condi necros because you have two full condi clears and they can’t outdo your damage. As soon as you get in close it’s over.
Minion masters aren’t too bad either because the wells will wreck the minions and again, once you get in close it’s over.
What about range? Axe is decent, it’s not the highest DPS but it makes up for the weakness by giving you some range and still hitting hard. Lifeblast is also your ranged attack although it does a lot more damage up close.
People don’t realize how strong power necro can be. I’m ok with that as I enjoy it not being the flavor of the month.

30/10/0/0/30 build is fairly weak in tpvp. you have no stability and you’ll be cc’d to death by hammer monkeys and engies, which are everywhere. if you wanna play a melee single target heavy hitter, d/d thief is still the best.
in response to MM builds, i dont think theyre too viable in high level 5v5 play. again, mostly due to lack of stability. minion spam is hard countered by aoe, like any dps gs or hammer guard. necros in general are hard countered by cc’s.

Actually, with flesh golem elite and Lyssa runes you do have stability. With spectral armor you get a stun break and with proper use of fear, immobs, wells and chills you can avoid pressure fairly well.
Life force generation is also through the roof which adds to survivability a lot. Your argument isn’t really sound because any class that only brings one stun break/invuln would suffer the same problem. I’d argue that a condi necro is at an even larger disadvantage due to much less life force generation.
Power necro also brings insane amounts of cleave damage which is also needed in tournies.
I play in tournies all the time with this build and it’s quite effective I assure you.
Anyway, I’m not here to defend the build or to try and teach people how to play it properly.
Jackalrat mentioned he never saw anyone use the weapon set without being deep into minionmancy. I was simply pointing out that in fact that weapon set without minions is quite adept at beating minion masters. I’ll remind people that I said “most”. There are some really good MM necro’s out there (although I despise the build and think it epitomizes all that is wrong with this game right now) who I have had trouble with.
Actually warriors now have a right to complain about MM necros, or to be fair multiple minion classes, ie mesmers and spirit rangers.
Hambow build was designed as counter to minion classes as you recall, and that 31% dmg nerf on hammer and the change in longbow burst has stopped that. hambow is still strong against those classes, but now it isnt a hard counter.
Meanwhile, necros are still as strong as they ever were.

MM necros are terrible in team fights – which is why they arn’t used by anyone but nubs. The only thing they are good at is sitting at home and afk’ing while eating cheetoes. Don’t fight them 1v1, just like you generally shouldn’t fight a spirit ranger 1v1. Get two people, one to pull the minions and the other to go for the necro’s face = dead necro. 2 man pushes on far are actually pretty common.
Yeah, MM Necro’s not viable in high level. It does provide a lot of damage + sustain in 1v1 for the skill required to play it, which is why you’ll see it a lot in solo q.

^ This. So many people don’t know how to deal with a home defender in Solo Q. One person will ether push far and die constantly the entire match to one, or nobody will touch it. Not to mention, if you have a home defender, chances are they will afk on home and not push up to mid like they’re supposed to.

lv 50 fractal dredge map is more fun than this crap
anet should just give every class army of pets so we can all roll asuras, sit afk at points and watch pokemon battles while entire map is covered in puddles of death
