Sorry to necro this but I dunno if making a new thread on similar topic is better.

So I have a thief guildie I keep losing to. After some research I came to this thread.

My aoe just doesn’t land on him. He keeps evading marks. He port and hit me. When I try to do anything, he simply teleports or stealth away. I tried well of darkness but he just run and wait. Same with wall.

Is it still true that a condition necro cant beat that kind of thief? Or did they make any change since June that a necro can have a little chance?

Could you link your build? I run a power/DS build that can handle thieves pretty well, but I do notice that when I play condi or terror builds, I have a harder time against s/d thieves. If you go 15 points in Soul Reaping to get Last Grasp and have spectral armor for one of your utility slots, you can survive a little longer. Plague can buy you some time if you already burned through your heal, but without seeing your build (I assume you’re playing condi or terror) it’s hard to offer advice.

It is fear/condition, typical 30/20/0/0/20. Sorry I should have mentioned it. I do have last grasp and tried spectral armor as utility but it only prolong the death because like I said, he just port/stealth away when I have defense up. And come back after it wears out.

The issue is probably in your utilities. Your spec is fine. Run it with 6x nightmare, sigil of earth on scepter, corruption on dagger. Sigil of energy on staff….and most importantly…duh duh duh….Bring signet of spite. It is the key to necro burst. Reason why is because it basically applies conditions in duration/variety that it would basically take you 3-4 separate other abilities to replicate, and it does all it in 3/4 sec. So, in a way, it is almost like quickness for a necromancer. Once you land it, you overwhelm certain classes condition removal abilities and you start to quickly exhaust their condition removal as well. For the thief, just land signet of spite, and combo it into a fear chain. He will be on life support within 4-5 seconds.

I helped out Nemesis (the necro who makes the pve/www guides) with some pvp adjustments recently after I saw his threads about necromancer frustations in pvp and he agrees with me now 100%.

I’ve tried that signet before. It works brilliant vs other people. But I can’t land it on my guildie. He is always evading, or porting away, or in stealth. May be I should record a video to better show my issue.
