Nerf Rangers
refection only kills brain dead rangers… any semi-decent ranger will cancel the skill if it is being reflected, stop using this argument, it makes you look dumb.
The tightening up of longbow and greatsword means the rather mediocre power ranger spec is now slightly easier (and fun) to play.. but that’s all it means. Condi/sustain and even spirit rangers are still way better for tpvp play on the majority of maps.
If anyone here legitimately thinks rangers are now OP, I suggest you make one and queue up.
ranger is my most unplayed class, and i can tell you as a warrior they aint that all OP. you need to know when to dodge the burst or applt blind or even apply weakness to them. they are very easy counter and pressured.

i keep hearing this “mesmers have alot more access to stealth” than rangers comment.
rangers have 3 seconds of stealth on a 9 second cooldown.. and a shatter mesmer spec brings decoy.. 3 second stealth on 40 second cooldown and mass invis 5 seconds of stealth on a 90 second cooldown..
im not a math scientist but im sure someone can calculate those numbers up and figure out that rangers have an ok amount of stealth.

Thing you’re missing is that the ranger has to successfully hit with the shot for stealth to work. Even with winds, it’s still a projectile.
Block, evade,plain miss (still happens a lot at long range), get LOS’d, or just have no free target, and the stealth doesn’t activate.
It’s not about cooldowns, it’s about the functional limitations to activating it.

I totally agree rangers need a nerf to all that damage and speed. The idea for buffing power rangers to this state is absolutely horrible and brings a huge unbalance to the game PvP and teamwork.
It is sad, because I know a change will exist, after many complaints, at the next feature patch (when it will be).
Dodge rapid fire.
Dodge pet CC, which is really easy.
Learn how to gap close.
Remember your build is going to beat every single build in the game.
Once you check them boxes ranger is no longer in need of a nerd, don’t start the old why should I have to change my build to deal with one class cause every class has been doing this from release.
Good to see LB ranger is no longer a free kill and does damage the build may not require much skill in terms of what to press and when but that’s your own fault for making it so easy for the LB ranger, stop and think about it if your losing to someone pressing 1-2 and there killing you well your the one whom needs the help not something needing a nerd. So next time you face a ranger stop and think about it force the ranger to use skill rather then letting him laugh at how you try to face tank it and get CC so easy by there pet.

Just tried glass with stone and renewal signets,I’mma say it’s ok did foud people who knew what to do. My most kills were stomp stopers and sniping the opposite team responded fast at my sight. Once you try it and see the other side you think differently it was real fun but wouldn’t call it op.

mass invis is the only skill that gives mesmers invis, didn’t you know?

Reflects, retaliation, stunlocks, or just get in close and run circles around the Ranger. Getting behind him will seriously mess up with his targeting and cancels stuff like Rapid Fire early. The latter is what really tends to get me if I’m on my Ranger and I’m fighting an experienced Warrior or Thief.
I know ima get told to l2p as soon as this goes up. Don’t really care because I do know how to play.

Hundred Blades – You can’t move they can’t move lets hope no one else hits you (while you stand there next to them) and you have to be in the range of all the AoE in melee range. Oh by the way don’t get interupted it takes a few seconds for all the hits to land
Backstab – OK still in Melee range and dont get hit with AoE’s this one is more OP then hundred blades but if you see a theif chances are you ain’t gonna stand there and paint a sign on your back. A good theif will still hit you but if you move around he might miss.
Rapid Fire – 6k dmg in a second or less??? Yes lets use the reflect block argument. If you see it coming. 1v1 you might but if they come in halfway through a fight you are done. Lets dodge roll. in the middle of a fight you might have 1. he’ll be back off CD before you if the other fighter has not killed you by then.
Compared to staff ele is way different. Ele takes a lot longer to get to the same #’s of dmg that a LB ranger can get to in less then a second.
The other Burst skills you have to be in melee. if you + 1 someone you have to avoid the enemy. Rnager does not have to at 1500 range Lets be serious you can hit from about 1800. just because the skill has it’s red bar does not mean it can not do dmg. IN Battle of Khylo I’ve seen rangers hit bunkers at mansion from top of clocktower. Good luck getting up there before you die.

I play enough tournaments and as far as I know they are pretty much useless.
They usually run berserker, can’t hold a point and they are annihilated by a single thief with ease.
Why are they an issue? Because they stay at 1500 range doing single target damage? Just bring a thief and it will be downstate the whole match.

this is ridiculous and clearly not only a l2p issue, but even more a "get used to rangers being able to hit stuff in a more ore less decent way" and a "get used to rangers at all" kind of problem.
stop QQing and TRY to kick ranger kitten and you will see, they’re not even close to invincible. but standing around and/or panicking because a pewpew is pewpewing is ridiculously stupid and embarassing for everyone who calls him/herself an even half decent pvp player.

Rangers are the best right now. They can pewpew like crazy from far away, extremely fast. Targets go down in 2 or 3 seconds. If targets approach, I get to push and CC them. Simply awesome. I love it.
try doing that in tQ, from lederborsd ranks 80% (yes) and up, every single player will kill you instantly. lol.

nice combat log from wvw that is affected by food, wvw stacks, wvw buffs, 3rd party debuffs, 3rd party buffs, ascended gear, etc….. which will never happen in pvp…

Done without stacks (those 10 stacks are of accuracy and i got them after i took him down) and not even the bloodlust buff. Not even food was used (it was a tray of Chocolate Bananas that someone placed down before), and i only have ascended rings on my ranger.
The enemy was a lv80 thief.

If you’re dying to a ranger doing that, I dunno man.
The whole thing is that you have to go after them. If you catch them, they’re most likely dead meat. If they’re running, they’re not taking potshots at folks across the center.
they aren’t anymore over powered than anything else… build to reflect projectiles back. Works every time.
Ranger is the new thief. And can hit from 1500 range.
At least rangers can’t stealth. Oh wait…

I thought this was the SPVP sub-forum, but looking at your screenshot I guess this is the WvWvW sub-forum….
Try to reflect or dodge when you they start rapid fire. Today I literally suicided a few very smart rangers with just focus skill 4 on earth.
The main thing of a build which requires no skill nor brain is that…people using that, for the most, match the skill and brain level of the gameplay

we won every single encounter(500:50 :80 :120 and so on), but it’s still annoying because of boring.
the bottom line is: pewpew buffs are nice and all, but ranger is still a long way from being viable in tQ and that should be the main concern of the balancing team. every profession should be at least usable in two or more builds.

Right and was he geared up past blue? No Idea..did he have food, buffs? probs not. was he lvled up in WvW? Chances are you found a lvl 20 theif roaming and one shotted him. grats

so basicly the arguement is that if you’re fighting someone and a ranger sees/attacks you that you are dead? If you dont see the other person targeting you that will be the case with ANY spiker, not just a ranger. ALL berserker builds are a glass cannon thing. This update might have been A-nets way of shaking the apple tree to get rid of the glass cannon thing in favor of a more balanced approach.
Also, just FYI, the damage for RF did not increase with the update, just the speed that the damage is applied to you. Before the update, if you just stood there and recieved all the damage, you still would have gone down.

Give it a few weeks, last patch every Guard was suddenly a Meditation one because of Legendary Greatswords being in PvP – this ensured some frustrations since most people cannot survive on the spec… Now, only those who either handled it already or got better with it remained…

Maybe there’s something wrong with my build slightly, but I very very very rarely see people go from full to down in 1 RF anyways. It seems to be one of those inescapable bits of hyperbole around the whole thing.
Ranger longbow 4 doesn’t have a tooltip that says its unblockable, but it goes straight through projectile blocks like swilling winds.
Other than that, I like the changes to ranger.
Ranger Longbow had to, as a baseline, out damage warrior longbow. Or else the whole profession is pointless. No it isn’t pointless.
The new power rangers can’t hold points, but they kill fast and they are a nice counter to the former melee bunker meta.
Also, the new power rangers are especially deadly on Legacy, where there are few line of sight evades at the close and far points (and a ranger running from mid easily lines up a shot on the node). This may be a problem with legacy more than anything else though.
On the other maps rangers are ranged assassins who end up hurting the team because they capture points so slowly and have trouble holding points.
