Nov 15 is make or break time
Guild Wars 2 Is 2 ~ 3 months old. It’s still crawling. And yes, I was one of those who saw Colin says “When It’s ready” and cringed like a little girl expecting Guild Wars 2 to be the second coming of Christ, and such.
Thing Is: At this rate, you can’t expect all the problems to be solved In a single patch, or you will get REALLY dissapointed. There’s alot of work to be done. Most problems gives a feel of “amateur’ish”, or even “God, how this came to exist In this game” and such. I know your pain. But give It time, because this Is a long time run fix… not something to be solved In a single day. Go play another game and let some problems be solved. Just give It time.

Personally I question the choices they made to launch with:
only 1 gamemode
8v8 zergmode spvp
pugs vs premade tpvp
point system rewarding zerging more than defending
You’re very right that it will be a long process, and as I posted above I don’t see much coming from nov 15 patch myself.
There will be a new map that’s more of the same, but surely it will be made very nicely again.
There will be less sharks, that funnily enough didn’t bother me as an engineer. But that’s a biased view of course.
And other than that… I sort of lost what the patch will bring that will even remotely change the current pvp.
My real question is: how long till any significant changes? Paid tournaments was the biggest change so far, and it did very little in the end for the total state of pvp.
its November 10th and Anet hasn’t said a single thing about what they are introducing/ fixing this patch.(spvp wise)
i wouldn’t expect much.
ill patch sometime after thanksgiving maybe i will feel like playing again around then… till then Smite.

there was this interview where it was clearly stated no new game modes were introduced, just a new map of conquest.
And the sharks being reduced to half their number.
That’s about the only things I can remember relating to pvp.
we should start asking for new maps and less pve creeps in spvp, then maybe they will work on the real issues… because obviously asking them to fix real issues only yeilds useless things like new maps and less sharks.

the patch of nov 15 is bringing a lot, just no big changes to the current forms of pvp.
Pve wise it brings the island and such, but that’s not our issue here of course.
More important are the tons of profession fixes and possibly changes that will come with it too.
Balance will shift a bit in pvp between certain builds, if only because of a load of bug fixes.
The patch might (MIGHT) adress a lot of things indirectly related to pvp.
But when it comes to direct pvp improvements or changes, or added features… I only remember the things I listed indeed.
if nothing big happens on nov 15 im out too. i bought the 2 most overhyped games this year and 2 times it turns out to be a complete trainwrack..
i’ll learn my lesson tho next time i just wait a month or so before stepping into anyting.
im doing dungeons and WvW until tpvp is given the room to evolve. im hoping this patch will make one or two dozen new builds viable, at the competitive level.

I’m in the same position. The other game even went out without PvP and they now seem to have sorted out the PvE side. It gives some hope for GW2.
However, I wish GW2 did the same back in August. It would save them the embarrassment and save us the nerves.
[Edit]
I don’t care. I will pledge allegiance to ANet’s flag if they give us /rank. GGKTHX.
and for the record, balance changes better be taken piecemeal. if they get to feeling rushed by the mass amount of impatience teenagers on this forum have and mess things up, that will be much worse for the future of gw2. i think they have the right idea by taking things slowly and carefully. we all saw how fast pistol whip was fixed. that was an obvious balance issue and they nerfed it just enough (15%) to make it relatively balanced. ofc that means no thief will use it anymore because wtf would they use a balanced ability? bahahaha
ps. anet, give /rank plox thanks.
