Some people are not aware of how strong boons are in this game. Boons make or break bunker guardians, make or break bunker eles, and are an extremely powerful tool for some other builds (might for hgh engineer, might for scepter ele, etc).

Being able to steal boons at anytime you need, for several times in a row, will surely drain your adrenaline fast, but you’ll reap 10-25 stacks of might from some professions, you’re rip protection, stability and high stacks of regeneration, vigor or fury from others.

Except the boon stealing mechanic doesn’t work this way.

You see an engie running around with 15 stacks of might, you steal it from him, and then you get yourself a single stack of might.

Pretty useless considering how fast those boons are going to get applied again.

The only real improvement coming with the sword tweak comes from the fact that it will be spammable, so if your opponent consitently refresh his boons you will consistenly get to steal them again.
But you can’t rely on bountiful theft to do that, and as for sword you’ll have to stand inside the aoe mine field in order to steal those while dealing mediocre damage and being showered with death sneezes.

Maybe it will be okay to 1v1 that lonely bunker guarding a point, but i doubt it, especially not against BM rangers.

I understand the nerf to mug.

However, offsetting the damage loss with a 2k heal doesn’t really fit well with the class mechanics. Instead, just lower the cd as many others have suggested. Let the utility we gain from stealing assist our survival.

If the devs still think we need more survival buffs after reducing the steal cd, then there are plenty of other ways to do it. Hell, you could even reduce the cd by 10 seconds then give a 1.5k heal or something like that instead of a 2k one.

I’m fairly certain that during the SOTG, the devs said explicitly that if you remove a stack of a boon, you will be given the same size stack…ie…you rip 15might off of the engi and you get 15might in return

Im curious how much longer Mantra of Pain has before they nerf it. Post April 30th it’s certaintly stronger than Mug in terms of burst and situationally was already. It’s just as instant and due to RC’s and cast times it’s still on a shorter recharge.
Not that Mesmers take it but with that stronger push towards putting Mantra’s on the map if it gets in the limelight I give it 3 months.

Well if anyone remembers the post, when they nerf MoP remember Ensoriki saw it coming.

Also what in this game removes 1 stack of anything?
Is there seriously any condi removal that removes 1 stack or any boon removal that removes 1 stack? I don’t think there are any skills that work like this lol. Bountiful and Flanking already remove full stacks, Arcane thievery removes full stacks.
Spinal shivers removes full stacks. Sigil of nullification removes a full stack.

SOTG said it would remove full stacks… Get your panties out of a bunch… Mantra of Pain is hardly used because it rarely does the amount of damage we would like. All the asteroids, planets, stars, solar systems, and other galaxies would have to align for it to do insane damage. Its only useful if people go 30 deep for them and even then its not as powerful as having the extra stun break we would get if running a shatter build… The only way mantras could really become viable in tPvP is if they moved HM down to the master tree… Currently… Its just not worth the points….

Well matras just suck and they will still suck after patch so noone is going to bring them in tpvp imo….believe me i already tried them like almost every other mesmer and once you traited and everything is fine you fire your uber traited mantras (After preparing them of course, while everyone in the other team can just take your pants off and slap your kitten during cast) and you end up like -__-

….and 2 minutes later you already rerolled back to shatter..

Thieves will just be useless now. I really don’t understand the point of this nerf. The class that was supposed to be strongest of all in 1v1 combat, will become the weakest.

Who says thieves are suppose to be the strongest of all in 1vs1 combat? That is the problem. I play a thief as well, truthfully this will not affect me one bit. This only affects glass cannon builds that want to have you almost dead before you see them. Is it the best solution, maybe not, but its effective. Something had to be done.

Considering Mug does kitten for damage, unless you trait as a glass cannon, yea…it’s a massive nerf to the other builds that try make use of this trait for a little help with their damage.
