Seriously Anet..

I still play this game because I have no life. The hours that I still play I spend 1/3-1/2 of my time sitting in the mists doing nothing. Theres nothing to do in the mists, no games or activities in that incredibly large empty space. I wanna do something else but then I’d leave Queue and then what do I do? WvW? That stuff is lame man. I get a Q pop after 7-8 minutes usually. I go into game. Great we have double thief so I have to switch. I go Engi, I kill people, we win. Hooray?

I feel like there’s nothing left for me in this game anymore. Waiting for a Q is incredibly boring, I used to be able to get map completion for my legendary, not anymore. Now Ill never get a legendary. I just sit in the mists looking at the TP. I dont really have that many in game friends/teammates anymore, they’ve all ditched me to play with others and im not sure why. Not because im bad, but apparently some people are “a little better”.Whatever. I used to troll dueling arenas for fun, but I got banned from all of them. I used to enjoy the KOTH server, but thats dead because nobody wants to go in cuz they’re waiting for a Q pop.

Anet killed their own game. I really don’t understand how people still play PvP, and that includes me. I feel like its a chore, not for fun anymore. Unless something really changes I think im packing up my bags and going to Smite.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to be heard. Sitting around waiting for 8+ min q pop is incredibly boring. The decision to lock you in to the mist was a lazy solution to a problem that they actually made worse. People afk even more now!

my facebook is active and quality (at least i think so, opinions will differ bud). look at this great image i got from a pals post.

Decision to lock you in mist is bad if you have to wait in que for longer then 2 minutes.

Check my tread I have an idea about brining new mode to Gw2 as old it sounds 2v2, 3v3 team deathmatch. Maybe you would be interested in change of pace or different builds which will work in this mode.

PvP has always been boring.

I’m mostly just impressed that all your friends are still playing. Most of mine quit playing so that’s why it’s a little quiet out there for me.

I actually saw Grouch in game and got the opportunity to ask why we were locked into Hotm while waiting on the queue. I’ll post the screenshot when I get home…

Agreed, the queues are too long and locking you into the HotM was the stupidest move ever made. I use to be able to do stuff while queued. So I could go farm nodes or work on a weapon master or slayer achievement or just hang out and bullkitten in map chat in zones that weren’t toxic like HotM.

Just play a turn based strategy game while you are waiting, and pause it when the Queue pops.

PvP turned into a boring “locked in a map” activity…. that is not enjoyable and that is a common perception ANET.

All we want is being able to do other things like map completion/custom arenas or w/e instead of being locked in the HoTMist waiting…

This ‘off season’ has left competitive pvp in a state of staleness. Even when it was the first test season the ladder was a joke.

NO carrot on a stick for r80s. The only thing worth playing for is Leader board ranking but even that is a joke now which rewards quantity not quality.

NO gear for hitting a rating, NO skins for hitting a rating, NO titles for hitting a rating, oh kitten i forgot , a mini llama (no comment)

I often ask myself why do i play this game? I love the game mechanics, and dare i say it, ‘balance’ but its in the most boring stale state of pvp right now.

I’ve posted this many times before. It’s SO SAD these Devs have put such a beautiful, mechanically stunning game in a state of limbo, slowly killing off its pvp population.

You think people REALLY care about the same 3-4 teams winning/appearing in these ‘esports’ finals??? That is not healthy competition.

The sad thing is a moan on the forums will do sweet FA to change it.

PS..looking back on it, i actually miss the days of grinding to the next rank (20/30/40 etc) just to get the new skins/finishers,…CANNOT BELIEVE I JUST SAID THAT. Says a lot really.

First i now your feel bro , there was a time (short ,like 1 year) i really dont have a life ,i was like Brock Lesnar “Eat ,Sleep ,Conquer,Repeat” stuff but replacing conquer by sitting before computer all day.And then thanks for some reason once again i have my life back ( main reason is i dont have money to pay for my internet bill) ,Dealing with trouble and * beep,strong langugue * help me grow up everyday .Now i have a job , i have money for paying my stuff, still dealing with * beep,strong langugue * everyday. This happens to me quite a bit. It seems like the decision to lock you into the mists with nothing to do while waiting for a queue is actually worse for afks since afking is the only thing to do while waiting for a match. Not to mention how much it hurts the pvp population since you have to fully commit to either doing pve or waiting in the mists for pvp to pop instead of just a mix of both. Someone who does a mix of pve and pvp is going to naturally lean towards solely doing pve now, because at least that somewhat respects your time.

Everytime i log in gw2 its the same.. Nothing new to check or add on my character..
The meta stay for so long that makes pvp boring. It was fun playing spirit ranger but not for like half a year.. And its fun to play survival ranger but its getting boring. Warriors use healing signet for like 1 and a half year.. Engies, eles etc.. Every class i played had so little options into building it..
I dont even want to start about conquest..

I don’t know why Arenanet thought it was a good idea, but I suppose they did not want players to abandon something when their queue pops.

My suggestion watch youtube or netflix.

Honest solution: Extend timer to accept queue from 20 sec to 1-2 minutes (or less but still more than 20sec). Allow queuing from anywhere in Gw2. Will people really be that upset if a couple of qpops are denied if they can be doing stuff while waiting?

I would love crafting tables in the mists. If you add that, then I am all set! Bring back the MF while you are at it.

But OP is correct in my opinion. Completely correct in almost everything he says.

I also struggle for log in and have been more off than on this game for 12 months now. When I do play it is super hard to motivate myself as the game is just….redundant in so many ways.

And of the people I played with there is like 7/8 people left and they are never online at the same time. I used to have a friends list of about 100 regular pvpers who were all semi decent and I used to be a big former of PUG teams. That era is over because there are just no players left to play with. Everybody quit.

When anet is trying to give away real money and still only 4-8 teams turn up….with open sign ups (go4 cups)….yeh. Then there is an issue.

Everything in this game is not user friendly. Even in their esl tournaments 90% of the time you are waiting around. When you play “ranked queue” 90% of the time is boring waiting.

The game mode is redunant. The same specs for 3 years…yeh not very fun. The fact there is almost no spec diversity. Only 8 classes. They give map selection to pick between 4 maps which are basically all identical (cap points) where nothing really changes.

But but but dota2 has just 1 game mode! That was anets logic during alpha/beta to try and make the game an esports.

Well guess what. Dota2 also has 108 heroes with all different specs.

You can disagree all you want with me or with OP. Facts are facts. Everybody quit. The game is boring as kitten. The competitive community is literally the same 20 guys who take the game seriously. Nobody else practices. Nobody else plays. Nobody else has tactics. Nobody even uses teamspeak anymore.

It is so pointless. The truth hurts. GW2 is an awesome game. I truely believe that. But no updates of any meaning for 3 years = boring. Very very boring.

Expansion could help but just 1 new game mode? Sounds like not enough. The new specialisations could actually make for more specs than the pigeon holing of all classes currently. But that remains to be seen.

Anet prioritised BALANCE over FUN with their fundamental game design decisions such as hardly any skills, restrictive trait system, amulet system, 1 game mode. That has hurt them. And winning tournments in gw2 is like being the best computer game player in your village for 50 people. it means nothing because nobody plays this game seriously because the more serious you take it the more bored you get until you just quit.

This is a serious problem. The fact that people say: “just browse youtube or Facebook” just prove how bad it really is! This is a MMORPG! You should never find any reason to leave the game while waiting for a PvP queue to pop! That must be the worst decision the devs have ever made! This is something they need to go back on immediately, because it makes no sense.

Before I could go practice 1v1 in custom arenas, troll people in WvW, work on map completion, do a few PvE dailies, gather resources, work on achievements, craft new gear or just wander around Tyria and gaze upon this wonderful world. Now? Sit in the Mists, afk while I surf Facebook, watch streams on twitch or just run around mindlessly in the Mists. I may spar with the “awesome” sparring partners (dueling anyone?), watch some brat rage in map chat or something similar. There is literally nothing fun to do while I wait for the queue to pop, which is really, really bad! This also heavily affects streamers (not fun to watch someone on stream do nothing for 10 minutes while they wait for a queue to pop….

If you don’t enjoy playing a game, the best course of action is to stop playing it. Take a break, at least. There’s no monthly fee, that means you’re not losing anything by not playing, and you can come back anytime.

The same “meta”, maybe. Players love to convince each other that there is only one viable build per class. If you actually believe that, well… I don’t think anyone can help you.

Players are just getting burnt out. It’s been two and a half years of one game mode, long que times, stale meta, and little incentives to compete at high levels. Of course people are going to start to lose interest. I still enjoy the game, however I do more than pvp, so it helps when I get tired of it. I recommend just taking a break, and coming back around HoT release. If you’re still not enjoying it after this, then it’s probably time to find a new game or hobby.

Ok let me clear a few things up…

I’m not a complete no lifer, I have friends and stuff and do social activities. When I get home though I like having a fun game to play, i’m not a Netflix or TV kind of person, I really like MMO type games and I think GW2 Is one of the best right now. It just sucks to me that Anet has gone this direction and refuses to revert a terrible feature after such a large amount of backlash from the community. I like this game and want to continue playing it, and I hate to see it take steps backward.

lol dude. I know there are different specs. But if you play condi necro without terror you are an idiot. The game forces you into certain traits. When you play a medi/dps guard you have to go into that line for those traits. With necro you play power or condi. 2 specs. Sure some small variations in those specs. But nonetheless. It is 2 specs which haven’t changed for 3 years. Literally haven’t changed at all.

So yeh, well done missing the point completely.

Look up the definition of balance imo.

besides if you read what I wrote then you see I said balance was good on the whole. The issue is with the trait system and amulet system there is no room for creativity. In addition each class has only a handful of skills which again means no room for creativity/variety

The reason they posted for this was because they didnt want people getting dishonor because of long load times for map changes. That was what the devs said. Other people have forgotton this.

Either way the ready up button was a cure much worse than the disease. And as I said all along most 4v5s are rage quits. Which the ready button does nothing to fix.

In fact now people are more likely to afk at the start of a match because the only time you can go and get a drink or do something is when the queue actually pops and after you hit ready. That is what I do.

Don’t see how your comment is relevant. Someone asked why we have to wait in HOTM to queue, I gave them the response I got in game. Next.

That would work or they could check that everyone selected is fully loaded before they present the queue. Or they could fix dishonor because it’s obviously broken. Why should a loading player get dishonor for missing the queue when people who afk in HotM are simply taken out of the queue? Why not do that for both?

It really boils down to lazy programming if you ask me.
