Ranger Pets' Behaviour Is Seriously Broken
It has been explained to you a dozen times or more katana…. this can’t be fixed.
The pet isn’t finding you unless the Ranger selected you and told it to attack you or you attacked the ranger/pet. Those are the only 2 scenarios possible.
So even though you may think you’re the greatest ninja that ever lived hiding behind some twig out in the open, if you’ve been TAB targetted you’re going to have a pet on you. Just like if you’ve been tab targetted, a player with a ranged weapon will spam auto attack and find out where you’re at because the projectile will fly toward you.
The only exception to this scenario is stealth. Against a player, the target is dropped. Against a mob, it’s not because stealth doesn’t drop agro.
It can’t be fixed… everything you’re complaining about in this thread is normal AI behavior and not specific to the ranger in any way.
Mesmers and Necromancers have this advantage to a degree as well.
Just dodge the pet…
Either
A. They’ve gone into beastmasterery and the pet is all of their damage.
B. The pet hits like a wet noodle.
C. Walk more than 2000 range away and the pet will stop attacking because of the stupid leash range.

You really need to watch the discovery channel more, animals use there nose to smell. So doesn’t that mean this “thief” never shower’s. Tbh it’s his own fault, shower at least once a day and your chances will become better.

Ranger pets are not nearly as strong as Mesmer Phantasms and both follow similar pathing.
I suspect that this is a way to weed out low toughness glass cannon builds which are reliant in strategic LoSing as a large part of their survivability. It effectively succeeds at this task if that is indeed the motive. However, it also punishes skillful play.
If they change the pathing structure of AI such that they will no longer follow if you LoS the AI owner then I suspect that they would also need to reduce the burst potential of low toughness glass cannon builds to balance it out.
leash range it just ridiculous like longbow max range too
otherwise it’s ok since AI is too dumb, but pets really seem to follow you till world ends.

And flutter around like a moron for 5 seconds before attacking. And not use the F2 ability until you mashed it 5 times in a row. But not 6, because 6 will make it fail and not work at all.
