Funny thing is, I reacted to the sound of the sheep faster than the eye motion. I vote for more skill sounds.

More distinct skill sounds!
KITTEN YEAH

I come from third person shooters, so everyone can see things. The advantage is hearing them. I play with sound fx all the way up. And 9/10 times I hear illusionary leap before I see it. Too lots of skills in this game don’t have unique sounds.

Same.
sometimes the skills seem to make no sound either, dno what is up with that though

Take your time to learn proper keybinding, it’s worth the struggle

I think people are confusing what reaction time means. Reaction time in the game would be seeing what happens, assessing the proper action, and then responding appropriately before the enemy takes another action that requires you to act differently.

It can be quite hard at times. Because of this, I reserve utility 1 for panic button that works when being ambushed, so I can quickly spam it whenever something happens. But there are flaws with this approach, namely the panic button doesn’t always work.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

In game as a D/P thief vs another D/P thief, I always have escape routes (shadowstep locations) running through my head in case I get opened on. I usually even keep my cursor on or near that location. Same thing with heals, once your target hits around half hp you realize that means he’ll be wanting to heal. At this point it becomes pure reaction to interrupt it. Or, as Caed says, “All of my targets are sheep”.

The game can become very high skill-twitch/action-reaction based if ArenaNet decides to push/balance the meta towards this goal.

Game over, your score 66, 3rd run through, this mouse is so bad that I couldn’t get the target at the top in time to continue past that.

103, that was a lucky run, most of the targets were on top of one another lol

I think shooting before the Invisible pops up is defiantly required to get a good rhythm going.

Agreed. I think you can get by on most classes with average reaction times in this game, though classes with alot of interrupts will definitely benefit from faster reaction times. This type of game though is alot more basic in terms of reaction time then other games where reaction time + execution is make or break (FPS and 2-d/3-d fighting games).

In GW2 to react to something you just aim the mouse somewhere on the screen, it does not need to be inch perfect and you hit a key. In high level fighting game tournaments you see players anticipate, react and execute joystick and button movements in tandem. Reaction times in those game make you elite, in GW2 noone really cares that your reaction is ‘that’ much better then the average joe. Anticipating something definitely helps your reaction time though.

Anyway here is a famous example of awesome anticipation/reaction times from Daigo Umehara (Street fighter God) for those interested to see elite reaction times in a big tournament.
