What wat? for real? The numbers feel right and concur with forum hype so it must be true? That is a terrible argument, and only acts to prove rickshaw correct. I am confident that the poster didnt make the numbers up but dont undermine his efforts by providing subpar counter args.

I’m currently at wolf rank, so I played enough games to know that these numbers look legit. Also, theoretically speaking, proportionality exists between profession demographics and complaints:

1.) The statistical event of getting killed too easily by a thief is a random event with a probability proportional to thief population.

2.) The probability of writing a complaint about being killed too easily by any profession is a constant.

3.) Therefore, the probability of getting killed too easily by a thief AND writing a complaint about it is also proportional to thief population.

4.) Conclusion: Since thief population appears much higher than other professions, there is an over-abundance of complaints about thieves.

People tend to play with a profession they have most success with. Everything seems to indicate that it currently is too easy to be successful with a thief, which drives their population to abnormally high levels resulting in a lot of complaints.

Also, when it comes to PvP, people don’t tend to play the profession with the most fun mechanics but rather with the ones they kill other people more easily with.

Not when the numbers feel right to many people, and are actually pretty representative of the kind of complaints that keep showing up.

Feelings are irrelevant.

I “feel” that Guardians and Warriors are OP beyond reason. That doesn’t make it so. Facts are relevant.

Basing your opinion on an anonymous poster who cited anecdotal data (which he is the only one privy to) is, again, an exercise in gullibility.

Anyone who has not seen the over-abundance of thieves in PvP must be playing with a blindfold. And I base my opinion on my own observations, and just find it nice that other people would observe the same pattern. If his stats put engineer as the most played I would definitely have discarded them, but I think his stats represent fairly well what I’ve observed in the thousand or so games that I played. You don’t even have to take the hard numbers he collected. The over-population of thieves is just too obvious when you play enough games.

According to these forums, yes, absolutely everything is O.P.

Sigh.

This sort of rhetoric helps nothing.

While every class can be said to have OP elements (as in, elements that are complained about with some regularity), they are just that – elements, PARTS of a class.

No, not “everything is OP”. Just because every class gets complained about at some point does not mean that every class has several builds that people think are worth complaining about – rather, it’s usually one or two very specific builds that are complained about, while everything else is completely useless because of those particular builds. THAT IS A PROBLEM.

(Also, this is thread is already debunked because necromancers are never complained about.)

Again, there are a LOT of underpowered builds because of a huge number of lackluster skills in this game. By extension, those few builds that don’t fall into that range look very, very good in comparison, while some are just completely out of whack (BS thief, regen elementalist, bunker guardian). To deny this is to be a reductionist sleaseball. Please don’t be a sleaseball.

This is what they said several weeks ago about the elementalist, and then bam people started complaining so I pointed it out and revived the thread. When it dies and in a few weeks Necro is the QQ FOTM then I will be back and will quote you.

On another note, yes some builds are better than others; this will always be true. Competitive people will always play what they believe is the best; this will always be true. If you nerf something then players move on the next best thing, then that is nerfed, then so on till the nerfs go too far and then people migrate to a different class, then they buff: which leads to certain really good builds; this cycle repeats. This is the mystic wheel of the mmo, like life and death there is no escape.

There are some really good Guardian build, Elementalist builds, Warrior builds, Engineer builds, Mesmer builds, Ranger Builds, and yes (Oh my) Necro Builds ( such as crit Lich which will be the new QQ in the future just wait and see & and the necro bunker buster build, which bunkers will soon start raging about.) As long as each profession has 2-3 competitive builds then that is fine. Balancing out for an infinite array of builds would eat up development time and be near impossible.

tl;dr- As long as each class has it’s own little slice of OP then they are not really that OP. ( i.e- If everyone is special then no one is )
