Short version:

Why they are strong:

• Spirit ranger is strong because storm spirit hits too hard and most players can’t dodge it because it is hard to be that aware of everything that’s going on.
• By the nature of condi tanky ranger and the weapons that go along with it you have everything in your weapon skills/traits to stay alive, then you get to add in an elite that gives 480 hp/s and a rez.
• If you add regen you are practically unkillable 1 v 1.

Where they need to be nerfed:

• Storm Spirit active and Sun Spirit passive.

Will they be viable after patch? Yes. How strong? Too strong.

Taking Storm Spirit off of a skill bar basically mean that you can run without Nature’s Vengeance and while that does hurt the elite it isn’t the end of the world. What that does do is give up a utility for something like guard and a trait for something like nature’s vengeance which effectively would increase the rangers hp/s by about 300 while wearing settler’s amulet. Making a build like 0/0/30/30/10 unkillable 1 v 1 with the nerfs to the other classes. Also, you get to set up stealth drake spikes on condi immune engis. However, one could also go 0/0/30/20/20 and get moving spirits, pet DPS, and vigor on pet swap which will be very nice with the natural vigor (WS 5 change). While that may not be considered a spirit build I think it is as the spirits are still moving.

Short version to being OP after patch: Same-ish builds, slightly less damage, way more sustain.

Come on man show some decency. You can’t boast about how epic you are 1 v 1 while wearing a settler’s amulet that’s like boasting about riding a bike with training wheels. When it comes down to it spirit ranger is a joke and is easy to play. It’s ridiculous how relaxed and easy it is while maintaining the ability to pay attention to everything that’s going because this build has so many “get out of jail free” cards. But that is tanky condi ranger by nature.

@Everyone. Stop using things like never and all because they aren’t true. For example: I used a boar for a long time and will always consider it as one of my go to pets (if they hadn’t nerfed skull with a 120 sec CD). Also, BM ranger could be beaten by great engi’s. I know O Eggs probably as some epic fights between the two of us and they often ended either way.

Spirit ranger is not brain dead easy it is actually very easy to counter and IMO way easier to fight than BM was at its prime and has a lot more utility that does have to be kept track of for optimal efficiency. What is brain dead easy IMO is any tanky condi ranger with a lot of regen. I just don’t like how a “perfectly played berserker” < “kind of know what I’m doing tanky condi regen ranger.”
