Standardized Models in TPvP (Picture Inside)

Indeed, although if you want both options, a slight difference would be nice. Bear in mind though, that this is day two since it was released. I think they are more concerned with (especially given the crash issues and FPS lag standard models were causing) ensuring that it works properly and gets positive feedback or comments from the players before dedicating more resources to improving it in ways that they might have already considered and obviously ways they might not have considered that would be suggested by the players. Sorry for this snipe but I have to say it: it’s also a PvP exclusive system, and they seem to have very little focus on adding and improving PvP content.
That being said, it’s never too late to learn a new skill! It’d be a good idea to start trying to remember at least characteristics of names when there are duplicate classes on the opposing team so that you can identify which is which anyway. Especially when you consider that so many used asura for a combat advantage, who’s to say teams won’t start matching their armour and or dyes to try and throw their opponents off!

It DOES NOT work in hotjoins. Misinformation is a plague. Stop spreading it.
It currently works in: Team Arena and Custom Arena with Tournament Commands.

I had the feature enabled and everything worked fine, but I just disabled it then re-enabled and now it’s not working. It worked all day yesterday, didn’t see a single asura in hotjoin. Maybe I didn’t notice myself joining custom arenas?

Did you see any norn or charr? It’s possible that you just didn’t run into any asuras or that you were actually in custom arenas.
I don’t understand Anet’s thinking. There’s no reason to “test” a new feature in the most competitive game mode (team arena) while leaving it out of hotjoin. It’s not like it could ruin hotjoin (I think it would make it significantly better).
I know soloque is the non-competetive casual reward track farm, but can we get standard models too please?
For those that might be looking for an actual look at all the gender and profession combinations of the new Standard Enemy Models.

No norn or charr, must have been inside custom arenas? Maybe people were populating them so much yesterday to see the standard models. Anyway…would anet NOT include standard models into hotjoin so we have to play ranked games? Or is it just their desire to put every kitten thing behind a gate now including basic features?

I do not see any reason to gate of features like standardized models to just team queue. Why deny a feature that people will find helpful? When you lock that kind of thing off to higher tier tpvp all it does is create a greater divide between the common player and the “elite” thus leading to a faltering tpvp scene which is already pathetic in its current form.
Anet should be encouraging people to enter pvp and excel in it. Denying basic features like standard models is very counter intuitive.
Virtual Communism is all I see
It’s just a gradual rollout, I’m sure they’ll expand it to solo queue eventually. At any rate, it’s not working for me and many other people, and it would cause massive crashes in the first few days after hte patch, so chill: they’re trying to get it working right, then they’ll expand it as appropriate!
I bought recently a custom arena and i think is a very useful option but i agree, we need more models and this option needs to be available for spectator too.
I’m sure they’ll eventually create 2-3 different models for each class to choose from. Maybe even “premium” models, letting people choose from among the fancier armour kits to represent them. There’s folks who care enough even about how their OPPONENTS see them that they’d pay a few gems for the option to appear different even to people with standard models enabled. Give it time, they’ve got 1 basic model per class and that’s not working properly yet, it’ll be awhile before they’ve gotten it running smoothly enough to roll out to the whole game. Frankly I’m surprised they didn’t restrict it to custom arenas only for the initial rollout.
I’m not sure I would like to see the option extended to spectators though. I know it would make matches easier to watch (though it’s less of an issue since you’ve got a shoutcaster following and describing the play-by-play), but a lot of high level players care a lot about what their character looks like. They want to build up a “brand” and they’d like stream viewers to be able to recognise them.
I really want to see Standard mode in solo queue, currently I don’t have a team to play Team Queue with but I still want to practice. Makes little sense for only one of the arena modes to have Standard mode.
Tarnished Coast
The thing I like the most about the standar enemy models is that they are further proof that the enemies my team finds in PvP are merely mists constructs that disappear with the arena when my team leaves. They think they are real people with memories and stuff like that. But they were just made by the mists for our glory, so my team has something to kill.
As for the models themeselves, engineer, and guardian are done right. They have extremely similar armors between male and female. Rangers are close but female duelist armor has a weird neckline that is completely out of place compared with the male version.
They look too different between genders. Thieves even use completely different armor sets.
It should be like with engineers and guardians. Armor sets as similar as possible between genders.
Imagine if they added female models in CS:GO and females went around with bikinis instead standard issue uniforms. That would be simply unacceptable.
Little bump for these 3 improvements:
-adding this option to soloqueue
-more models
-adding this option to spectator mode
Playing this game ( spvp) with this option change a lot (it’s better).
They should definitely add them to soloq. We also need more models, when you have enemys of the same class it can get very annoying. Especially if they are mesmers. Keepingtrack of the name in a fight can sometimes be hard.
Idk why we would need it in spectator mode but as long as its a toggle option i wouldnt care anyway.
