I think generally season 2 changes was a step in the right direction. The leagues are definitely more competitive compared to grind fest from season 1. However the current system still has a lot of flaws that turn a lot of players from pvp by the looks of it.

This suggestions are based mostly on systems from other games (which work).

Suggestions:

1. Beginning of each season every player should have their mmr reset. The moment player starts to queue for ranked, they have to finish 10??? placement matches. The difficulty of each match (better teammates but also better opponents) increases with each win and decreases with each loss. The more matches out of 10 player won the higher they get placed in divisions. Having higher division last season also adds couple points to calculation of the division placement.

Reason: in current season not so experienced/bad/average players were forced to be farmed by good players so those good players could climb up divisions really fast. Technically not a bad idea but works really bad if you take human aspect into consideration. No matter how bad player is and even if he realizes it, it doesn’t provide great experience nor motivation to play the game if you get farmed for 40+ matches straight. We need more players in pvp, not less.

2. Matchmaking: both, player and enemy teams setups, should be mainly based on division/pip range and not MMR. In ideal case, matchmaking should be based only on division/tiers/pips imo.

Reason: the current system sets up player team based on their MMR and enemy team based on division/pip range which results in a lot of lopsided matches. I understand that it was implemented to speed up climbing of the good players up the divisions but once again it causes extremely frustrating experience for a lot of players (since let’s be honest, majority are not THAT great yet they are forced to get farmed by top 10% for long time) and takes too long to balance out. Placement matches would be better solution, imo.

3. I think not losing pips for close matches was a good idea. It motivated players to actually try to get as highest possible score and possibly even win the game even though it looked like complete loss. The removal of that feature caused a lot of afking in matches this season and since customer support never does anything about it, i think the feature should be back.

4. Player should lose tiers in emerald/sapphire after certain amount of loses. Example: Jack is in emerald tier 2 with 0 pips. He loses 5 matches in a row, he loses tiers and moves to tier 1 in emerald.

5. Players should lose divisions after extremely long loss streaks in tier 1 with 0 pips (e.g. 10 matches) to discourage afking/trolling etc.

I think these are good suggestions. I would be curious about the 10? MMR setting matches. Could people team quo in those? What would the affect be if players could only soloq? Better or worse or somewhere in the middle?

I would add that players should only lose divisions when they are in the first tier of a new division. If you can get to tier 2 or above you probably belong there, just bad things happened. Maybe not all of which is your fault.

The problem with the pips, is they are only WINS. Not wins versus GOOD players.

So, anyone that can play 70 hours a week would get into Legendary even if they play like Emerald.

I would add that players should only lose divisions when they are in the first tier of a new division. If you can get to tier 2 or above you probably belong there, just bad things happened. Maybe not all of which is your fault.

In the league you have to solo through placement matches. It should be the same here, imo, to avoid possible carry.

As far as division goes, as i said you have to be on really long losing streak at 0 pip to lose division. Reason why it should be implemented is notorious trolls, afkers and griefers (and generally players who got carried there by luck/better teammates but can’t actually hold their ground).

What you state is the problem from last season when players with low MMR would win vs other players with low MMR and grind like that to diamond/legend.

If my proposed changes were implemented, player would have to win, a lot, vs better and better players each match. And if you lose tiers and divisions you won’t be able to farm to ruby so easily (if even).
