So the new ladder is cool, but it doesn’t always reflect skill accurately. As long as your average points per match is positive you can grind your way to rank 1. My solution to this is to divide players into different leagues based on mmr. The Reason as to why people didn’t like the old leaderboard was because you could get a lucky win streak and stop playing when you are ranked high.

At the beginning of the season players would be placed into leagues (bronze, silver, gold etc.) based on mmr. If a player hadn’t played much pvp before they would have to play 20 matches to get accurate mmr. During the season players’ mmr would be adjusted but their league wouldn’t. Players would be ranked in their own league using the current point system. At the end of the season players at the top of their own league would be rewarded (higher leagues get better rewards). This gives players an incentive to improve their skill (to get to a better league) and also to play a lot of matches so they will be rewarded at the end of the season. Matchmaking would work the same way as it does currently.

The point is that there isn’t enough top players so the top brackets will have stupidly long queue times and people will tank their mmr to queue quicker and still smash people.
