Wall of QQ inc. Reasons I’m quitting are on the second post. Xoxo <3
It was a bit more than 2 years ago when I first game of such game called ‘’Guild Wars 2’‘. I never had an idea of how the first title was, but GW2 didn’t get too much of my attention. At that time there was a fight over Another game (Which I won’t mention the title, let’s call it X) vs GW2 on who would play what whenever those games were released. And honestly, I was leaning towards X. I’ve always had a passion for world PvP (which X had a ton), the graphics were really good and a few friends of mine also were heading for X so I was pretty secure of my choice.
But, suddenly they started, one by one, to betray me ! They were getting into GW2 ! Well, I decided to give that game a chance then. Everybody was commenting about how wonderful and balanced the PvP of that game would be. The more research I did, the more positive comments about it I found, quite a few mentioning GW1 actually, which apparently was a god-like game. Decided to take a look at GW1, but didn’t really get what was going on at the fights (never played the game) and the graphics didn’t please me, so I just closed the video and went for GW2 Beta’s videos.
That was a wonderful game. Every comment saying that the game had a huge potential. SPvP looked super fun, the idea of being able to PvP as a high leveled character, without actually having to level up, was brilliant to me and WvWvW seemed to be such a massive event ! I got stupidly excited for the release, which happened about 1 year after that.
The game was indeed fun ! At the beginning I wouldn’t have much idea of what was going on here and there, I only PvE’d for about 3 days and then I went for sPvP. And that’s where I settled for quite a few months. Learned about the professions, SPvP strats (never had a team to tPvP with at the beginning) , but eventually I got bored of it. When i hit about rank 30 I went back to PvE (mostly because my main profession, Guardian, got the nerf hammer) and hit level 80. Finally ! Got excited, farmed my gear, gathered everything to be ready to get on the WvW field and do some World PvP ! And that’s when this game started to sink to me.
At the beginning I wasn’t really sure of what to do so I just kept following a commander around the map, capping camps, towers, keeps and all that zerg-roaming that we all know. But that wasn’t what I wanted. That felt like PvE to me. I couldn’t feel the heat of the battle or feel like i was improving as a player. I spec’d my Guardian for damage and decided to venture solo the borderlands. That’s when I realized WvW was a nothing but zerg-fest roaming around the map indeed. I could hunt down a few people here and there, beat some outnumbered fights sometimes but the zerg would always be there, waiting to roll me up and send me to hell. Back to sPvP i thought. This time I was more experienced and got friends to tPvP with and that’s pretty much all I was doing until last month. But suddenly everything lost sense. As I hit rank 40 I had all the skins possible to my rank and I wanted something else. I wanted to be able to shine alone if you know what I mean. Not rely on the team. I’ve always been a solo PvPer kind of person. Never understood why would people grind for months to get a skin that just has a purple name and leaves shiny footprints. I guess some people were just into PvE. And I was cornered. Bored of tPvP and sPvP wasn’t a challenge anymore and WvW was a zerg cave, but I decided to give it another try. This time I was a REALLY experienced Guardian. Changed my build. Struggled through some more PvE to gear up and went back to the fight. Crushed again. Harder than before. Apparently people started to run tankier builds (The so called P/V/T meta) and I couldn’t cut it as a solo Dps Guardian against 3+ people that were build to tank.
