The one thing that’s crappy about the mesmer is that it’s basically a summoner. Way too much damage comes from Phantasms and clone bleeds.

Spvp isn’t 1v1, aoe haste for your team? I’m having trouble understanding why you can’t see how strong that is…

Moa – oh you think it’s just lame….I would have said it’s singularly the most overpowered ability in the game, 10 seconds of no damage or abilities, you can’t jump, and no way to remove it. It turns a 5v5 into a 4v5 for 10 seconds, which means a win.

Really? you spend all 3 utility slots on stun breakers? Some of your best abilities come with stun breaks. Decoy? Blink? Why wouldn’t you have those slotted?

If you lose vs thieves, your reaction time is too low, or you just spam everything on the first target you see instead of saving abilities for when you really need them.

No utility! Best till last!!! – You mean to say:

Greatsword – Bounces between targets giving might to allies, vuln to foes

Mind stab – removes 1 boon 5 targets!

Illusionary wave multi target knockback!

Staff – Chaos storm! – 30 sec timer – buffs to all allies aoe and conditions to all foes!

And so on!

I haven’t even started on utility slots. Say you slot blink and decoy. You still have moa, timewarp (aoe), you can choose null field, phantasmal disenchanter. All spells which benefit the group.

So the phrase ‘Mesmers have no utility.’ …i’m not sure what you’re getting at. Do you really slot 3 stun breakers?. Maybe that’s why you do to thieves so easily.

A good mesmer doesnt care if you know which one is real…

…you can only beat newbie mesmers this way.

How do you beat a Mesmer? Easy, beat on the real one until he/she pops chaos storm, and then run the little-ball-of-fur away from the mesmer like a boss, and never look back.

The only class capable of remotely coming close to beating a Mesmer 1v1 is a guardian.

And this is under the assumption the players are of equal “skill.”

Personally with a thief I’ve had no real issues against mesmers.
Sure once in a while you will have an epic mesmer which is quite hard to spot between his illusions….

However i did come up with a personal solution to this.
Whenever i can’t figure out whom the mesmer is ill either use dancing dagger or dagger storm.
It takes a few second and there will be no illusion standing, usually you will easily spot the real one slowly walking backward, then you just steal and do your thing
