Tournament of Legends
But a little bit too much breakes for my taste.
This tournament is great.
teams are still going for the “easy” route but still i’ve seen lots of different stuff like eles, trickery/acro thieves and survival/Bm rangerz.
Balance is really good in the power creep ( lulz) and matches are enjoyable, in the chat i’m seeing tons of people who would never expect PvP to be this good.
Now we need rewards for high end teams, a better conquest mode and we’ll may be able to have a very good PvP game and community.
“Contention” not “Contestation”. It’s driving me crazy. Otherwise, games have been good and seeing Temple of the Silent Storm in the rotation is a nice change. Surprised there aren’t more engineers though.
Thanks for the kind words, Tellerion. Blu and Sireph, all of our Authorized Shoutcasters, the entire Mistpedia crew, and Mid-Atlantic Kombat (admins) put a ton of work into making this tournament possible, and all of us at ArenaNet are extremely humbled and appreciative of their dedication.
Thanks for watching, and hopefully we’ll see you tomorrow (and next week)!

Love it so far. The d/cs are really unfortunate and i wish the game had some kind of pause function; maybe something Justin could fit in in the future?
Some great plays and intersting builds although condis seem rather abundant.
You should do something like this every 6-8 weeks
If you like this stuff there’s weekly tournaments for both EU and NA which are a lot of fun. Hopefully after this tourney more teams will enter the weekly’s too!
http://mistpedia.net/ shows the dates of upcoming tournaments (bottom left).

Thank you Grouch! DPS (Fomerly Mid-Atlantic Kombat) had a blast and looks forward to the NA tournament next week! Thanks for all the support from Arenanet and for Blu and Sireph taking us on.
It is nice to see a little competitive PvP by good players just because it has been so long.
Not sure if I liked the actual game-play though. Way too many stalemate fights, way too many condition bunkers and condition spam in general.
I also disliked how the downed-state mini-game decided most of the team-fights. Feels like the exact opposite of what “active combat” was supposed to be about.
In general I enjoyed watching the competition but saw it affirm all my dislikes about GW2 PvP.
How many people came in to watch? I’m on Hawaii time so it was a little early for me, hope to tune in tomorrow!

~3k on blu’s stream but there were multiple. i think that’s a good start for a debut.

I believe the highest number I saw was just a little over 3,500
Numbers wise, 3486 was the highest I saw the main stream get.

Contend and contest are and can both be used to describe the act of fighting over something. While contention is usually used to express how both sides are competing in their act of contention, contestation is used to express the contesters act to take something away from somebody.
What Blu uses is neither contestation nor contention (both would be correct, though one could argue that fighting over a neutral node is closer to contending over it, wheareas attacking a captured node is more of a contestation). He likes to use contestion, which is wrong altogether.

Day two of the tournament is live! http://twitch.tv/guildwars2
Anyone have a list of builds?
Okay, the final three games, the last one in particular was pretty amazing to watch. Sizer and Helseth formed a nice hitsquad throughout the games.
Balthazar runes are broken.
Good final match, just a hair over 4000 viewers right at the end:
