Could someone explain what is the major difference between Unranked and Ranked Matches and how Matchmaking works in comparison ?

As a player new to PVP (but veteran in PVE and WvW) what should I go for, if I like to play with PUGs ?

1.Unranked has 2 extra maps that ranked doesn’t have, court yard and Skyhammer.
2.Ranked count toward leader board and unranked does not.
3.You will get a lot more new players on your team in unranked and you’ll find that people in ranked takes each match more seriously .

Other than that they are the same in every other way

I suggest you to start playing unranked.

When you feel that you are better than the other 9 players move to ranked

I played hotjoin as thief for a day, it was a total failure, lost 9 out of 10.

The following day I swapped to guardian and started playing Unranked, won 8 out of 10 matches. (pwn’d every class without a scratch in 1v1s except necros)

I will carry on with Unranked then, until I feel I’m ready for Ranked.
