Our team member Frosty was the target of DDoS attack during a crucial ESL Pro League match today. If we had won our match-up against TCG, we would have secured our spot in the LAN finals with Rank 55 Dragons. As TCG won this match-up by a lot of points, even if we were to win both our matches against R55 in Week 7, TCG will most likely win the 3-way tie due to points.

Frosty’s PoV from Game 2: https://youtu.be/5YLv2hEMf4E?t=5m50s

This is obviously a DDoS attack. Prior to the DDoS attacks, in both games, we were leading in points and had clear map control. You can also see that the lag is completely gone after the match.

I understand that it is the responsibility of players to safeguard against DDoS attacks and we have taken precautions like using Skype proxies, in-game VPN and resetting our IP addresses.

As Frosty disconnected after the two-minute mark, a rematch was not granted. ESL administrators decided that there a rematch was not possible.

We would like to encourage everyone to support us in changing ESL’s decision of not granting us a rematch and get a fair game for both teams.

Best Regards
Argi

This is ridiculous but I doubt Arenanet is competent enough to handle this in a way that brings you any damage reduction.

Sorry this happened to you guys.

In this case blindly following the rule distorts the competition. It is a good guideline, but Admins should still be able to make smart decisions based on common sense.

The timing of the attacks clearly shows, that the attacker knew what he was doing and might even be part of the competitive pvp scene himself to either get an unfair advantage or to seek revenge against Frostball.

Vermillion had the lead in both games and could be considered the stronger team. In fact we can only have a fair competition if this game is played under fair circumstances.

As the current distorted league placements does not necessarily reflect the strength of the teams, it is in the interest of all teams to get a rematch in this case.

Keep the competitive spirit up.

Well since you had a clear control of the game because you were leading almost 100-0 iirc in the beginning of one of you match that I saw, I think it is only fair to replay it, as of one extraordinary circumstance that goes against what ESL team have decided as a rule.

Hi Argi,

The matter at hand is between your team and ESL, and as such should be routed through their communication channels. These forums are not frequented by ESL.

That said, I am looking into the situation personally and look forward to getting to the bottom of this.
