Not to mention, leagues ended; so, people have no reason to shelf their thieves, until leagues return.

Decapping and +1 roles do not put the thief in a “good spot”.
Of course it does. If every profession was able to play the same role (say, side point fighter, like a druid or an engineer), then why would anyone play anything but the profession that performs the best?
This game is officially about “play how you want”, but really it’s a profession-based team game, like Team Fortress. If you want to have a comp that capitalises on fast bursts and snowballing through the map, you take a thief for the +1 and decaps, with a mesmer for the moa and Portal. If you want a more slow paced game, but still play three nodes, you take rangers, or engineers, or eles, or revenants. If you want to annihilate everything in teamfight at the cost of mobility, you go for necros and DHs. That’s how it should be. Bunker mesmer was ridiculous because mesmer was never meant to be a bunker: it’s too OP with Portal and all the invulns.

Are you sure you are fighting a thief? Are you sure it isn’t Revenant Sword skill 3?
When a thief is using 1111 you can usually hit them back. They need to use other skills to make you miss, or make themselves flip flop and disappear. They also are revealed when they hit you from stealth for 4 seconds. Also just because they disappear doesn’t mean they are gone from existence all you need is 2 hits, random aoe should do that or just press 1 a bunch of times while turning around. I still don’t get how you can’t hit a thief that ONLY uses 1-1-1-1(no skill?).

Maybe I’m missing something, but playing as a thief I’ve never been able to evade an attack, stealth or teleport while pressing 1-1-1-1-1. If you’re experiencing those things while fighting a thief, chances are they’re doing things that don’t involve auto-attacking. Perhaps using another weapon skill that costs initiative, or maybe even using a utility skill. Thieves do have those!
It does seem to defeat the purpose of complaining about thieves winning with auto-attacks, when your excuse for not being able to beat the thief down is that the thief did things that weren’t auto-attacks to survive.
Cry more. The thief has been needing buffs for over a year. The thief damage was complete trash. Now when the thief can keep up in damage people cry. Also if you want counter play to the thief it’s called learn to play. Thief dies in one good hit. Play ele, eng, guardian, and just spam that AOE and crush any thief.

Don’t worry. Most thieves are horrible. If you are losing to them, then sorry.
I just came back to Guild Wars 2 / sPvP. Didn’t bother reading patch, but instantly noticed how quickly I melted to a thief. Holy crap, what did they do? I’ve also seen a thief run around smacking people with staff like it was nothing.

lol @ those calling thief OP. In-game all I ever hear about is the enjoyment people get from crushing thieves. Thief isn’t sucky, but it won’t be OP in a million years.

It’s hilarious to see people complaining about thieves yet 9/10 matches NO ONE FOCUSES THEM. They can disengage fairly easily, but 2 good crits and they’re down. I’ve played thief since beta and even with the current (lazy) buffs we got all I can do in any given match is +1, engage in a 1v1 or 1v2 to stall AoE spam classes from engaging in TF’s and decap. Nothings changed, things just die slightly faster.
When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all.
Welcome to D/P Wars 2 would be more true.

Yea I do notice there are many thieves in unrank right now. But I wonder how they will fair in ranked when season starts. Thieves needed this buff. It truly define their roles as quick assassins.
Thiefs are pretty decent, but if a team plays more than 1, it’s still IMHO not a good comp. I have more problems with the possibility of Reaper and Scrapper-stacking, since they both offer a lot in various different situations.
I play god everytime to not have 2 thieves in my team.
Really pls, if you play thief and there is another one in the team reroll class. Unique exception if enemy team has 2 thieves in the same way.

This is pretty sad tbh. People playing thives, probably player zerker amulet as well and melting people with auto attack. I don’t get how people just stand there and let the thief aa them down when the thief has 11.5k health

Oh I know that game ! That’s the game my Mesmer is not playing anymore also. I just use it as a mule to hold loot like a extra bank. It never leaves Lions Arch.
What a thread…having 2 thieves is still a liability in like 8 times out of 10 as those playing thief mostly have no clue about what to do, they just go around AA random targets, never help, never decap anything, never steal anything..the epitome of uselness

You’re not using your Mesmers to their full potential. You should be equipping a Scepter + Malicious sorcery and farming your home instance daily with them. Every time I bring people into my home instance, they’re like “Errrmehgawd, your mes farms node so fast! Mes OP!”
I do think there is an error with Malicious Sorcery’s tooltip, though. It says something about ‘attack speed’. Weird, right? Should just say ‘Gathering Speed’…
Well, now they can play a more disruptive role. It is quite nice that they got a buff but I am afraid of those premade duos/trios of thieves that CC lock/interrupt the crap out of everyone.
I saw it how one of my teammates with his/her premade partner gave someone such a harsh CC train that even 10 stacks of stab didn’t save that poor guy.
Its just not the thief buff I an fine with that but the nerfing of the amulets that’s got me going with this patch they took all four of my pvp build in the trash I am a defence player taking out all the defence and healing is not good because pvp now is who can hit first to get that big hit and kill win there is no fun in that now when the next season starts again I have nothing in my play style the game is no longer fun for me when I see is zerk this zerk that and nothing els I am now trying to find a new game MMO to go play they are gonna lose a lot of players this way and I have played guild wars for over 10 years in all
