What profession is better for PvP?
Necro and Spirit Ranger or Engineer, they are at top tier right now. Necro and Spirit Ranger is skill-friendly while Engine has higher skill cap to play it right.

What about mesmer, elementalists and thieves? Whos better of these? Thanks !
They are all weak dont bother. If your new play spirit ranger, if not play necro. Wait until next patch and switch with everyone to the best class, cause necros and spirit rangers might get nerfed.
All three of them are on roughly even ground.
Mesmers and eles are pretty much unviable and you will feel useless, making you frustrated. Thief at least has a couple of builds that can stand up and be productive, and many rate them near the top still b/c they evade so much.
Thieves will always have at least one viable/strong spec it seems, because of the class mechanic.
What about mesmer, elementalists and thieves? Whos better of these? Thanks !
If you ask me to choose one bw three, I would say Thief since you can gtfo if things get rough. Thief is hard to play well though.

Guardians and warriors are also showing up fine on the solo leaderboards, as far as NA goes.
Mesmers, thieves, and eles are the only classes that aren’t getting a lot of representation, although there are a few up there still. The balance isn’t as bad as the forums would have you believe, but those three are lagging behind a little, and rangers are a little over represented, with necros a little behind them.
The classes that require reliable teams to spike something out are underperforming. The classes that wear the opponents down and are more durable vs enemy conditions trying to wear them down are doing fine.

To be honest, I really think it depends on the player and how well you know your toon, your gear, and your combos.
Necros, Rangers and Engis that I have come across, for the most part, are pretty easily taken down. Some eles (dagger dagger builds especially) give me a bit of a hard time. Support/tanky guardians or warriors obviously give a bit of grievance, and mesmers are just tedious with all their clones. Theives and their invis annoy too.
I’m a GS/Rifle Sigil build warrior, and for the most part I think I do alright. I will admit, I have hard times against people who know their toons like the back of their hands – But that’s really what I think it comes down to. Knowing what you’re up against, and how to combat it.
Any class in the hands of a skilled player.
Thief isn’t weak at all. Try to play with sword/dagger and lyssa rune. A lot of evades and condi clean with the elite.
The only two class which are weak atm are Ele and Mesmer.
As an elementalist player, I feel much weaker in this meta than in the old one. Condition spamming is nearly impossible to deal with unless we go bunker and get eaten by thieves, or we can counter some builds with extreme kill-or-die burst, which is hard when everyone seems to have defense, boons and dodge spam enough to survive that. Unlike thieves, we can’t take most of their HP before they can even react, neither.
The biggest problem is that outside of s/d and d/d there’s little for us. Staff is not even used in team play, where it’s more reliable, so don’t expect it to be competitive in soloq. It has no defense versus burst classes. A staff bunker can take a beating out of a necromancer, but unless you can reliably support your party, it’s just not worth it.
If focus was any good, it could shine in this meta. Plenty of anti-protectile versus engineers and rangers, plenty of condition removal versus engineers and necromancers, and some nice extra anti-burst defenses. To tell you what, I’m really tempted to go focus, considering how appropriate it is for the meta. But it’ll probably won’t work. Focus fire skills are a waste of time, focus water skills are underwhelming and have little to no impact, and some cooldowns are just too high. You can’t heal in focus, so ironically it’s best to go burst, but what burst can you make? s/f fresh air burst + arcanas? With worse aoe, worse cc, less sources for burst, etc?
And it’s not like our conjure weapons offer any worthwhile playstyle for us, neither.
The devs are holding their balancing patch for after the patch. I really hope that when it comes, considering how much time it is taking, it’ll have a decent chunk of balances. Honestly, not only the current meta, but the old meta, were a bit too extreme. I don’t want to see only nerfs to necros or rangers, but to old eles, old mesmers, old engineers, guardians, thieves, etc. Nothing big for some of those, but a slightl tone down nonetheless.
Any class in the hands of a skilled player.
This, unless you want to mindlessy drone between ezmode flavor of the month builds/professions (which do inevitably shift). Not sure what the OP wants, but since they mention PvE, it sounds like a long term character? Just make what is the most appealing to you and stick with it. If you find a good match, you can make it work.
