Why are DEVs so silient?
warrior and we’re the best class” Eugene
It is because they have already stated there plans. There isn’t anything else to say until there scheduled balance date. They don’t want to do knee jerk reaction nerfs. Considering almost all of the ones they have done up to this point have left the builds they effected entirely unusable atleast for a time. And often had effects that extended into the other game modes.
What there planning probably isn’t just a few number tweeks. But reworks on how some of the new skills actually work unless I miss my guess. That takes time to get right.
A couple weeks isn’t long enough when there are as many variables involved as the GW2 build and combat system have.
They probably want to tune builds without breaking them. Or at least thats what I would hope at this point in the game.
I doubt its because there embarrassed. They don’t really have anything to be embarrassed about.
Also the professions I doubt are unfixable. Its just gonna take more than a couple weeks to do it without cutting them in half.
Does it suck right now for anyone caught in there way? Sure. But the same could be said for every other time a meta has pushed certain builds out of the meta. Its just a different group of people getting screwed over is all. The meta will change again. And itl be a different set of people being shafted then who will come to the forums to make posts like this. In the end nothing will ever really change. Same is true for every game.
I’m guessing It’s because of the tournament. “Esports”.
The devs are aware of the balance issues. But changing kitten up during tournaments throws off all the teams and a lot of their hard work / practice goes down the drain.
Unfortunately the rest of the playerbase has to put up with an insufferable meta till February.
As to why they are so silent, it may have something to do with the obligatory dozen threads people are posting daily that are full of anger and QQ and “kitten you Anet”… Just a thought.
They respond on Reddit, they probably aren;t allowed to come here anymore, new company policy /s
Colin already answered on Reddit a week ago:
“Yeah I agree that really should have been more clear, I think we felt it was and clear that HoT was setting up the first season and obviously it was not.
In regards to balance – balance is NOT driven by our PvP Pro League, the pro league is a marketing effort that has almost zero impact on our dev team. Drawing parallels between the two is at best disingenuous.
As for viewers when it comes to the marketing side since you commented on it…pro league week one had over 400,000 unique viewers (non view bots) watch for a reasonable amount of time. That’s beyond awesome and a huge return on the investment. Are we LoL? Hell no we’re not. But PvP has been steadily growing for the last 2 years and it keeps growing faster and faster. Rather than knock it- let’s all get behind it and root for it. PvP was DoA when Gw2 first shipped, it’s amazing to watch what it has grown and turned into, how freaking cool is that?
And while we’re at it, get behind rooting for WvW and PvE to grow as well; we’re all in this together, it’s silly to knock things that are working. We have plenty of other stuff that we can make better to focus our energy on trying to improve”
So buckle up and endure this awful meta until next balance patch or, like some has been doing if can’t take it anymore, take a break.
Thief / Mesmer / Elementalist / Warrior / Necromancer / Ranger / Engineer / Revenant
Crystal Desert – Eredon Terrace – Fort Aspenwood – Stormbluff Isle

Yeah, so, basically, they do not say anything because they think there’s no problem to be addressed.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I’d stay off these forums too, if I were a dev.
What the hell is up with kittening reddit nowadays?
The same kitten is happening in WoW. Devs are ignoring forum posts, but the split second the post is linked on Reddit they get a response on the battle.net forums.
What the hell is so special about Reddit?
What the hell is so special about Reddit?
The GW2 sub-Reddit is largely made up of clueless PvE fanbois who are mainly interested in playing Barbie, Anet could declare they are big fans of child trafficking and get adoring upvotes and an enthusiastic response there.
But back to the OP question, it probably isn’t up to the devs, it is probably a management decision, which is just one more example of why the gaming industry and the quality if its management has the reputation it does in the real world.

or just cause nothing can excuse a so epic fail !
Could Anet finaly hire Community Managers who would communicate with community?
They are on vacation, doh.
I saw a dev in the mists last night and he said that they have been reading everything and acknowledged that they know there are problems but that as usual they can’t say anything because they don’t want to get people’s hopes up. He also told the Warriors and thieves to hang in there!
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
They want to keep their jobs. You don’t bad talk the management decisions in public.
Could Anet finaly hire Community Managers who would communicate with community?
What a preposterous idea!

I guess their current community managers and developers would actually like to talk about what they plan for the future. But we all know, that the company policy doesn’t allow them to do so.
They have to work on that company policy like yesterday. It is so contrary to what players expect today with Kickstarter and open development projects to hide informations until the very last moment if possible.
Just look at how Grinding Gear Games is handling Path of Exile to get an idea about how to handle a community well. They constantly respond to feedback on both their forum and reddit. Not just community managers but everyone… from artist to coders who give really indepth insight into their code up to the producer and CEO of GGG.
Today they will launch the next league and content update. About 4 weeks ago they announced the big content update which follows after todays update in Q1 of 2016.
It gives informations about new content, new gameplay system etc…
Just look at this:

They are really open about the development of their game. If something doesn’t work and gets changed or removed, they make sure the community knows why. And wow, that community is thankful for that. You never see posts regarding canceled features, because if they cancel something, they explain why.
What ANet has to do is take a good look at how other studios handle and interact with their players and change their company policy accordingly (which basically means get a new one).
I never seen PvP is such bad shape, so flawed… Its just sad.
I don’t know what they do or why the new system and specs feels like they havent even got tested before release. Its baffling.
I almost don’t play pvp, as least the pve is still new and I have a reason to log in.
About the balance of the game? Is it because they are embarrassed? Or is it because they over buffed professions and they can’t fix them now.
They are silent because they are working SO HARD to update those skill descriptions for the next “Balance” patch.
One spam to rule them all!

Ty for reminding, time to tryhard in new hardcore league.
