Why high mmr players have low shot at LB
??? Queue times of ten minutes must be nice, how does anyone get ques that fast?
Um… isn’t that how the MMR system should work?
1) Opponents should get progressively harder, thus winning should become harder. This is to push your MMR higher and higher. Though stacked teams and premades vs non-premades, I THINK, is being looked into, I THINK.
2) Since it’s a bit natural that less people will reach the higher MMRs it makes sense that there’s less people in general queue’ing up or even being on in that MMR range. People in the same MMR range will/should play against people in the same MMR range.
3) Yes, they are lower, since you will get constantly placed against people of the same skill or higher than you. That’s how you increase your MMR, more so than beating people lower skill.
While maybe it is less rewarding than it should be, but by no means should it be that you’re picking on players in the lower MMR range and progressing as if you were beating higher MMR players.
In response to Lexiceta…
Playing at peak hours helps.
Someone that plays as often as you during off peak hours will have worse queue times…furthering my point that this system punishes all players who are in between top teams and mediocre mmr ratings.

While nothing you said is false…I believe you have misunderstood my main point.
In the current system bad players, and especially players with an artificially low mmr, are very commonly earning higher points per game than medium-high mmr players/high mmr players that solo queue.
An improvement would be to keep matchmaking close to how it is, and only consider the difficulty of your opponent when awarding points. Strength of your own team should be disregarded.
When you have a system that is supposed to decide who is playing the best…it does not make sense to punish higher level play.

Out of curiosity, why would high MMR people be worried about points on LB?
None of my significantly high MMR friends seem to care about LB and rewards, because they want a LB that shows skill not time played.
Also, it seems like from queuing with one of them that our queue times weren’t significantly high. Probably added 2-3 mins over average queue times.
Are you sure que time isn’t increased because you are grouped? I have 7+ min que time in a gp of 4+ and 2-4 min que time when solo. Now I have no idea what my mmr is so maybe I just suck. It doesn’t make sense that you get that much longer que time because you have high mmr to me, because it’s clear the match making will pool people of different mmr together as long as the total mmr is close between the 2 sides.
there should NEVER be the possibility to match against ANY pre made when you search alone. As far as I’m concerned the purpose of the entire MMR theory is moot when you have familiar players against unorganized solo searchers.
Just play for fun. I wouldn’t take this seriously. Even at the tournament level the prizes are pretty shoddy for what you put into it.

I have a consistently opposite experience in which queue times are much shorter when I AM grouped.
Got no idea if I have a higher MMR – but I do know that I’m being constantly placed in groups that don’t understand rotations cannot 1v1 even remotely successfully leave points uncapped and love fighting 1v1 off points.
I am often having double que length times of the average – then being placed into a bad match (eg avg que = 2 min 30, my que = 6mins +). I only que solo (very rarely with team members).
Matchs are going landslide losses or close losses (eg ~40 points) or a close win.
Lots of 4v5 matchs, people going afk during matches (moving about a home base and dancing – to avoid being detected). I know in the old leaderboard system I had about 60% win ratio on solo q. Lost 3-4 points off the leaderboard due to having seriously bad team mates with virtually no clue or being pitted up against 4 (team)1 vs a 21+1+1.
I am seriously loosing faith in the system for matchmaking – sorry lost faith. I can’t play on “peak” hours as I’m in the EU playing on a NA Server – there are less players than peak EU on EU.
Completely lost faith in the leaderboard after going from 67% win ratio now down to 40% due to some seriously bad team comps (all heavys with two guards vs all squishes), 4v5 or a 5v5(where 1 goes afk or dc’s for 1-2 mins). I know of bad players who had a 20-25% win ratio last test season who are now already ahead of me with a 50-60% win ratio where they started this season on a 30% win ratio a few matches in (and yes I know they are very bad – won’t name names).
Do I need a mini llama ?
No – I already have one.
Do I want glorious armor ?
Nope- I have absolutely 0 chance with the grind and bias towards bad players or mediocre players who are improving.
What’s the point – the match making is complete flawed – landing in matches which are 300 v 40 – 4 mins in : makes everyone loose faith especially when one DCs.
Honestly it feels more broken than before this new leaderboard, the MMR and matchmaking combined.
