As the topic states, is it worth it to buy the expansion? there are several reasons that clouds my judgment as to buy or not to.
1. will there ever be a descent dishonor sanctions for players rage quitting or afk’ng
2. can people abandoning the queue system be temporarily banned in pvp for 24hrs if they abandoned twice a day. so as to not get the match making screwed.
3. Will there ever be a descent leaderboard where people will not farm on pugs vs. pre-made groups.
4. Seriously is verbal abuse still up?? or is it going to improve?
5. Is there a way where players within the match can rank (promote & demote vote) a player whether he is performing well or not? and when this vote gets a descent amount, a player will be judged whether he/she will go up against a higher or lower MMR. (this probably should be on rank matches only)
6. as stated in #5. can reporting also be restricted. so people will not abuse the system. probably 3x a day. basically meant for serious offenses only.

Don’t get me wrong, the game is one of the best creative MMO-PVP out there, but I believe it is easier for ANET to fix these issues above than to create another expansion in my opinion.

Everyone of those things will be baseline to the game, that is, no expansion will be needed for that (if it’s ever implemented) because it affects core sPvP gameplay.

1. There should be one. Soon™.

2. That’s too rough and severe. A quick 2-5 minutes would be fine. Of course if it’s someone trolling, that number would go higher, something like 5 queues missed, 1-2 hours ban from queueing.

3. Guild Teams are coming with their own Leaderboard and hopefully, a separate queue (this last thing about own queue not confirmed).

4. Ignore is your best friend. I’m sure they check those reports.

5. This won’t be good. Players tend to be biased and blame on anyone but themselves. This would be an unhealthy system, would affect matchmaking heavily being subjective.

6. No 5 no 6. (but I’d restrict reports against the same person).

So yeah. Expansion is almost PvE exclusivities. Think that there’s game outside of sPvP, like PvE or WvW.

For sPvP, as far as I know, you get in the expansion the Elite Specializations, the Revenant and one (if I remember correctly) Stronghold Mist Champion (recently announced). Stronghold itself and the Mist Champion “Turai Ossa” are available for everyone, have HoT or not.

one mist champion on release, plus any further mist champions released will be HOT exclusive as well

i can’t see elite specialization only for hot, it can’t be fair for anyone who don’t buy hot.

I think it’s quite fair…honestly why even bother thinking about buying HoT, just do it….you love gw2 you’re on the forums cause you want to contribute and be involved and probably play ALOT … ps. doesn’t every expansion on the market anywhere work like this?

if chronomancer will be bad for pvp I wont buy it for sure there is nothing for pvpers

I share a simmilar opinion. whether I buy the expansion depends completely on how good engineers elite speciation turns out to be. I am so happy with warrior currently it would take a great axe specialisation to make me drop one of the current trait lines, and I really don’t care for any of the other classes enough to buy an expansion for them. I loathe anets crap pve and this games awful lore, so nothing but engineers elite interests me so it better be good if I’m going to spend $50 on it.

Even if the thief specialisation is awesome for pvp i will not buy it at it’s current price, i will buy it wen it’s on discount, even then i will not buy it for more than 20€.
Imo a trate line and a weapon set is not woth 50€.

I’m just wondering what all those people expect?
50$ worth of pvp only content, 50$ worth of wvw only content, 50$ worth of pve content?
I guess I don’t need to go deeper in maths…

I’m pretty sure they’re balancing Elite Specs so that they are viable options, but not necessarily strict upgrades to the current class. In other words, not all mesmers need to be chronomancers and not all chronomancers have an edge over regular mesmers. Way too soon to tell though seeing as a majority of the Elite specs haven’t even been spoiled and nothing is set in stone yet. It’ll probably be worth it no matter what mode you play simply to try out everything. It’ll also make it a lot easier to get a quick grasp of what other elite specs are capable of since its a lot harder to judge that when you don’t even have access to those traits.

i actually was thinking about buying it but now i tend to think that i might not buy it
1. i have 0 interest in playing revenant
2. i am not really into pve so much
3. the balance atm is so awfull and there are so many bugs that i don’t even play much besides logging in to do daily stuff~
4. thief spec will be probably awesome on paper but will get nerfed to garbage tier before release
5. i don’t feel like waiting another year for balance patch that will be sold as buffs but will turn out as another nerf list~

the game is just not enjoyable atm for me and i don’t see how it will be with xpac, judging by all the info that was released so far….

ofc it is just my opinion~
