add group queueing for structured PvP
YES! Honestly this is one of the basic foundations of group playing. Yes you can enter a tournament. But if you are just two people that wants to play some casual Spvp games it’s basiclty impossible. Takes way to much effort anyway.
They’re not going to do it. From the devs’ point of view, 5v5 Tournament sPvP exists for those that want to queue and play as a group.
It’s mildly inconvenient to play with a friend and get on the same team as them, but it’s really not that difficult. Frequently playing against 5-8 man preform groups as a PUG would be highly undesirable for most players.
I suspect that in ANet’s minds, the mild inconvenience of getting on the same team as your friend is outweighed by the headaches of large preforms in hotjoin games.
I’m agreeing with you mouse. As much as I’d like to play with my friends, I’d much rather not have to deal with pub-stomping premades.
We still have fun though, even if we have to fight each other… sometimes it’s fun to kill your friends. We are wanting to plan a guild event in which we’ll find an empty room, fill it up with guildies and kill each other while on vent. Gooood times man.
I’m amazed how they haven’t thought just added max 3 player group etc. I mean its not hard to counter the high number premades, finding a solutions should be extremely simple. Yet they don’t show any support for players with rarely more than 3 online on their friendslist.
Imo its very sad and its one of the big reason I think spvp is boring. Fighting just to get to play with your mates is extremely bad design decisions.
Not sure what op is talking about. Start a roster for the free tourney with your friend and yourself and you will get matched into a team that needs 2 people. I enter free tourneys by myself sometimes since pug groups can take a while.
I really hope in the future they implement something that allows small groups to join for structured pvp.
I myself dont play very often and when I do its usually to pvp with my partner. Its really annoying spending more time trying to get on a team together than actually playing most evenings. Then eventually finding a game we are teamed together only to get split up mid match.
People will say “thats what tournament pvp is for”, this isnt the case for everyone. Not everyone wants to take pug players for a tpvp match match and sometimes just want to chill out with a friend or 2 and do some spvp.
Right click and “join friend in pvp” makes no difference, we still get put on opposite teams or get split up mid match.
Wanna Queue up with friends? Play tournaments.
…finding a solutions should be extremely simple..
The tournament system is the solution. If you want to run a premade you go against other premades. If you want to run solo queue you go against other random solo queues. Allowing premades into solo queue just makes solo queue a worse experience for people who aren’t playing with their friends.

You can voluntarily change teams mid match as soon as the teams become uneven. Just swap sides. Hit ‘B’ and click on the ‘+’ button by the other team – if they have less players than your team it will instantly transfer you.
Tournaments are not a fair answer because there is no actual matchmaking;
I duo queue with my friend and we get 3 randoms,and we get put against a full 5guild group premade and get stomped.
This occurs VERY frequently;
The last 7-8 matches were lost on the first round because my friend and I got 3 randoms versus 5full premade.

This doesnt stop us from getting split mid match and isnt always possible If this worked I wouldnt have wrote a post here. Nearly every single game we play we get swapped, we maybe have a streak of 2 games where we finally are together then get split again and have to spend more time trying to play together.
Like I said, we spend more time trying to get on the same team than actually playing. joining games with less players to try to do this, doesnt always work especially when one has a longer loading screen than the other and more players join at the same time. Or sitting 7vs7 on oposite teams and no one else joins to let us swap a team.
The best part is one of us gets swapped and having to switch to the losing team is a terrible punishment for wanting to play with a friend.
