certainly there is a creative and dedicated player or guild out there that could come up with and regulate new game modes/rankings/touneys instead of waiting for anet to deliver. they could be organized and results/rankings posted on this forum or an external site and possibly recorded/streamed to add the spectator aspect.

in this fashion we could have 2v2/3v3/duel tourneys/deathmatches (people stay at spawn after death)/modified ctf of some sort via spirit watch/etc etc so long as people were willing to follow the rules.

just to throw an idea out there… there could be 2 teams of 2 duelists dueling on the outside nodes of one of the maps. once a player caps a node via winning or opponent stepping out of the node, he can run to the middle node and start capping it, or have to fight the winner of the dual on the other side. team who hits 500 or defeats both opponents win. there would also be 2 referees and possibly 2 streamers.

if something like this could be pulled off i think it would help break the monotony of our current pvp situation and elevate the prestige of pvp players/teams via external titles and ranking and such.

i know its a long shot and possibly laughable but after our long awaited 26th pvp patch i have very little faith that anet has any serious plans to make pvp more desirable.

Biggest hurdle with referees and such is boon sharing, like aegis etc. I’m sure there’s ways around it but its a pain.

Some guilds used to do 2v2 and duel tournaments. Probably all left the game though, have t heard anything like it in months.

Players cannot organize their own events well without Custom Arenas. It is problematic and getting everyone on the team they’re supposed to be for instance is a pain, compounded by it being forcibly scrambled.

well thats too bad. its a shame to know we could be having the fun we keep clamoring for right now but wed rather wait for anet to give us kitten child pvpers another piece of stale bread to barely keep us alive due to minor technical difficulties
