what do you think about give the old pvp players gold for the tournys they played in the past?
because there are much old players played tpvp since beta and spend rly much time only into pvp.
for example, i played 3802 tpvp machtes and won 2441 of them.
i never played much pve, so i have only 20 gold atm :P
maybe it would be nice to give us pvp only players a bit gold after the patch.
maybe only for the wins ~15-20 silver.
sure it would be much gold in a short time, but pvp only players never have much gold and we spend rly much time into playing the game in pvp since beta and dont get much more then fun for that :P
(edited by Oidmetala.8426)
ANet said they won’t. Which is stupid. Atm I got somehow cash for 1 T3 set, while my pve friend got 2k+ g in cash, just w8ting to buy em all 4pvp.
They don’t care we sticked to broken pvp for months, they think ther’s gold in chests soon so everything is ok. While I can;t even buy 2 sets for my chars. Pathetic. By this time in pve I would sleep on gold.
It’s not stupid.. players like me would be sitting on just ridiculous amounts of gold..
Instantly hundreds of thousands of gold would enter the economy and spike it so hard it would take all year to recover.
Imagine paying 600 gold for 100 gems.. or 3000 gold for a skin ..
The result of a broken economy and I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet maybe because the economist in gw2 is an Ivy league grad….
Lol, PvP players spiking the economy… Is this a joke? Most players would only get 100-200 gold for over 600 hours in PvP. There are thousands of pve players who got far more gold than 100 or 299
I bet most of the gold would go for cult armors and nigtmare set etc.
If they gave 20s per tourn win, I’d have only ~420g. I would spent it on T3, finally some abyss dye, maybe some skin from gem shop. Where are Ur big numbers then? not even 500g for 2ooo+ tourn wins is the cash that makes economy broken? It’s a price of a cheaper precursor lol. The pve ppl who r sitting on XXXX gold r ok ?
Yeah i like your idea very much, cuz i also never played much pve and dont have much gold to buy the t3 amors. I only spent a lot of time in pvp cuz i like it a lot! So please give us the money for the pvp tourneys that we won. I think many pvp players would be very happy about it.
Im sitting on around 3k wins, at 20 silver per win thats 60,000 silver, or 600 gold. I am not alone in this most of the rest of the top 300 are also sitting on on 600 gold.
The pvp population is around 3,000 people.. (wild overestimate)
so 1 million 800 thousand gold at the very maximum would instantly
enter the economy in one patch cycle.
Not only that, but in anticipation of this change the market would go insane with people scrambling to buy anything that’s not gold as fast as possible, to prepare for the spike causing an even bigger spike.
(edited by Darnis.4056)
Pvp players should get gold for past tournament wins because otherwise they cant buy t3 armor etc but every pve player can do so. Everyone have glory who played atleast a bit pvp….but only pve player have gold.
It’s riddicolous how easy and fast Gold is farmable in PvE. What a bad decision to deny that little Gold to the PvP-Crowd. Again a letdown from A-Net’s side.
U assume 3k ppl got 3k wins from tourns. I highly doubt it. And U seem to belive 600g in this game is big ca$h. I got friends who sit on 5+ legends (some got8+) + xxxx gold. This is real cash, few of them all together got thousands of gold. And I bet there r much more ppl like this. Not all pvpers would go spending 500+ g on gems, i bet.
Lee is right, the glory “barier” for pver’s is non-exsisitng. Gettin few k of glory for armor is matter of hours. Getting gold for pvper, is matter of weeks.
But yeh, better pver’s got all easy, and pvper’s don’t deserve rewarding.
Not to mention farming pve is so non-brain-needing that even my pillow would do it effectively. And it’s just a pillow. A dead thing with no brain. This is how easy it is.
Imo gold reward + rank reward (like GW1 with Glad) should happen. I’d get back some faith in ANet.

I think the gold we are already getting is good enough, 15 gold~ per day is not a bad wage and won’t spike the economy so much that I’ll never be able to spend it on anything other then pvp reward merchants because the economey is royally ******d
One thing I would suggest is Double the Glory required on items and lower the gold value down half. so 60k g> 120kglory and 30 gold.
Last suggestion I agree with. Would be rlly nice.
15g/day is HOURS of pvp playing. Actively, giving the best to win, to get the most of it.
I’m not sure if I reach 10g day, prolly not lol.
Yeah i would like it very much, so that you can at least get one Tier3 cultural armor for the hard work in the past. Cause if you have around 10 gold and 500k glory, you cant buy very much
so 1 million 800 thousand gold at the very maximum would instantly
enter the economy in one patch cycle.
Considering there are tens if not hundreds of millions gold in game already it will barely change anything.

I agree with the move to not put such a huge influx of cash in the market all at once. There are not that many players who only play PvP. In fact, I would go as far as to say that most PvP players are also avid WvW or PvE players as well and are already in some of the upper echelons of financial security in the game. It would just add to it all at once. It would have long term effects, too. People that get a huge influx of gold like that aren’t just going to blow it on gems. They will invest because they are good with numbers and see that they can turn that overnight profit into far more.
I hate agreeing with morwenna but I do
as i do remember the ‘old’ pvp’ers did receive gems.
stop whining
Agreed.
Maybe we have to buy gems and switch them for gold to have some gold for the new armor tomorrow
Tricky.
I hate agreeing with morwenna but I do
:)
Ahahaah u talkin about some gems back 1 yr be4? Fail joke. And maybe u gona say it was easy to get? Why I shall stop whining? I should be poor and watch others sleep on gold coming to get rewards and stfu? lol on this.
And most pvpers do also www and pve? There are only few pvers who takie it seriously AND do some pve www. If ppl pve+pvp+www, they r more casuals than srs pvpers. So they don’t have much wins, and it wuldn’t affect them much at all.
And ppl gona invest cash? Srsly, im gona spent hours on tp, investing to get better profits? Ofkittenrue statement. Maybe few would do, most would go for some skins and dyes obviously.
as i do remember the ‘old’ pvp’ers did receive gems.

Actually this was a very short period of about 3 months and if you remember right the entrance also cost tickets. So you had to come to foefire in order to make profit. Since this time there was absolutly no income for pvp’ers.
/Bump – Devs need to see this and due to the low population I really beleave that this will not affect economy at all

Lol not even 25k gold to the market from ppl who got the most wins both NA and EU in both ladders? My 2 friends got more cash in items+gold (6+legends, other skins, gold).
This is this massive influx? U must be kidding me.
first of all not all pvpler has 3000 tourney wins and not all got gems as tourney wins.. also there are a lot of possible solutions like
- reward only soloq and teamq and not old tourneyformat or
- cap the amount at some value
and i strongly believe that a lot of the gold pvpler would get immediatly would be spend at the new vendor for t3 and also for the tome. 20 levels give only 18 skillpoints for a fresh char. so u need to buy 27 tome pro char for every new skill u want if they havent been leveled already past 20.
on the same time i dont think that the gold would influence the market really hard. not harder then any flipper or farmer or living story farming events. esp since there is really nothing a tpvp player needs from the market except dyes
as u see from symbolics post/picture that wouldnt really hurt the market how all think or argument. nobody talks about rewards for played games, just for wins. and u can already see on the picture how the max-wins falls down fast. so only a couple of players has a lot of wins.
also think about the reward as a starting boost for pvp-only players so a cap wouldnt hurt that much but help a lot..
(edited by hooma.9642)
The real unfairness is between " hotjoin only " players and " tournaments only " players. It’s fair to assume that you get more glory, and maybe rank quicker, in hotjoin than in tournaments ( mainly due to waiting times and thus glory boosters).
Maybe you should be able to " sell " tournament reward chests, or get an advantage with those, to make it more balanced..
Wow. people ask for more already.
Real PvP player play for good fight, challenge and excitement not for gold.
you can get gold from previous plays through glory.
buy those toxic thing chests for some glory and throw your toxic spores on the trading post as long as they are about 2s each

Well Real pvp players would to get skins too and how do you get skins when you’re all the time in mist and don’t have money. Answer is simple you don’t.
If they could do what oidmetala is saying we could spend our money in gems and getting skins we wants or anything else that will be used in anet so what’s the matter ?
What if PvE players start to ask for Shark Finisher should gain by time they spent in dungeons?
oh cmon …
I didn’t know Harry Potter worked on Guild Wars 2. . . . wait that is . . . touche :P
OMG a dev, pls answer to the post about retroactive glory point, not this troll thing about retroactive gold, pls pls pls
I didn’t know Harry Potter worked on Guild Wars 2. . . . wait that is . . . touche :P
I really really REALLY need to know if you’re the actor who plays McLovin in Superbad!

A few hundred gold takes WAY less time to farm, so nope.

Sadly I am not.
bear in mind the figures i posted are only leaderboards numbers, I’ve got several thousands tournament games played/won that were pre leaderboards. I honestly don’t think giving players gold for previous tournaments played is a good idea. When you initially played those games you weren’t playing for that specific reward. It’s like buying something, there’s a special offer 3 months later and you go to the store expecting them to refund the difference to how much you paid. That’s a kittenty analogy I guess, but i’m gonna stick with that one. I do think the cultural armor gold requirement is a little too much however and the glory:gold ratios should be changed more in specific to glory. Or even just giving it a straight up glory cost I guess although there were people that exploited birthday boosters for massive glory, and skyhammer farmers.
Besides a broken influx that oddly only a few seems to understand, retrospectively changing glory into today rate all at once also ignores the time value of money. Say if today 100 glory is 1 gold. 100 glory of 1 year ago is absolutely not 1 g considering the means of obtaining gold has changed a lot. The gold system was structured to be the money system since the beginning, be it champ farming, tp, etc. they are all under supervision whether you understand it or not; whereas glory is never meant to be a money system. Suddenly changing to one would break the economy for sure, won’t go over it for why cuz this is not a lecture but it’s not as easy as just changing x glory into x golds.
why would it break economy? u realize only a couple of players have high amount of wins on teamq or soloq. so the avg would maybe get ca. 200 gold, that he would prob. spend on t3 armor on the vendor. there isnt much over to explode the economy. a max. cap would prevent that a player gets to much to shake the economy by himself.
atm you had done better if all pvp players had played pve until 10.12 and then start to play pvp to benefit from gold reward and even higher rankpoints. is it that much to give pvp players gold they deserved to spend right at 10.12 at t3 vendor to buy the deserved skins and skillpoints?
on the other hand u need to think further. the more new skills coming the more its a slap in the face for pvp player. they get a small amount of gold and need to spend it for char-bound skillpoints to unlock skills, where a pve-player gets skillpoints for free and saves his gold. yes gw1 had the same system, but there where the skills accountbound and not charbound. so the next months every pvp players saves up gold after 10.12 to spend it later on new skills. so why not give them a starting base of gold they deserved? the same goes with rank points.
all in all this is just a pve-update. its not to reward pvp players. its to reward pve-players if they play pvp. so a pve can with his armor jump in pvp and keeps it. where a pvp players starts from 0. i could accept that if pve-players would need to start from 0 too, with special armor that is capable of transfering into pvp-version and not the already accumulated staff. so its only fair to give pvp-player something for the past time.
so a pve-player in t3+legendary go heart of mists = still t3 armor + legendary. plays some games and gets rewards. need 0 glory to spend. pvp player who has got some money via trading post needs to spend his saved up gold. u think thats fair?
#hireDarnis Oh wait.. :/
Words can’t describe the giggles I felt.
Because, just because only “a few” people have high amounts of wins doesn’t mean you get instant golds out of broken underlying, be it 1 gold or 1 trillion golds. I’m all for exchanging glory into other kinds of rewards because it would work just the same as dungeon tokens. Gold, on the other hand, is a NO NO.
Sorry, but it is a stupid idea to make changes in a game work backwards.
Starting with the day, people can get gold for PVP, it should be paid out.
Never ever it will happen – in no game, at no time.

the same stupid idea like saying pvp is all about skins and u need to play in PVP for these skins and now give pve-players the chance to hop in with theyre skins without playing? same? i think its the same. pve players get rewarded for the time played in pve backwards with a new game/part of the game where they can play without loosing progress on the other hand the pvp-players get nothing backwards.
i could also argue why the vendor takes money+glory. the only reason i can see are skyhammerfarmers. pve players dont need the vendors, they already has the skins they like. pvp player on the other hand likely hasnt that armor and need no also spend gold to get them.. so actual the only population that has a gold sink are the pvp player throught new vendor with armor and the need to by tome of knoweledge for the new skills. 27 * tome for every lvl pvp 2 char.

Awkward moment when PvP players care about “skins” over “skills”.
Im with the vets on this one it aint right a pve scrub can farm glory and unlock all nice skins cos he has the gold already , and highly skilled spvp vets have to farm gold
end of the day glory farming is 5x faster than gold
im done with spvp
lf pve guild lol :P

This sickenss me. Dat fail argument: ur pvper, u only care for skill. So if i enjoy pvp much I can;t have a nice loking skins that are in the game i payed for? Coz im pvper and this should mean nothing to me? Strange, I don’t see pvper’s running in starter armors, all good combinations with nice weps…. hmmm…
If u think its skins over skills, u fail to understand what is this whole talk about. Completly clueless.

answer is simple. skill doesnt buy thinks like dye on trading post.
Why is every one so surprised that they are not rewarding PvP players? It is a PvE game with no e-sport potential at this moment or in the past whatsoever.
In fact, people that were bright enough to figure this out within a half year were able to get a full money refund on their game; people that believed it might turn into an e-sport.. well, sorry for your money! That is what you get for believing in ArenaNet. =)
is see not how e-sport and rewarding players for gaming time is somehow the same.
We played our matches knowing we’d get low rewards, and yet we still played them, getting compensation for our decisions in the past is not Anet’s responsibility. We used to play for no gold, now in the near future we will be playing for gold. Just because they decide to give us the blessing of getting gold in the near future via matches, doesn’t mean that they should waste their precious game-mode development time on our compensation that would shatter the economy.
