Balance is a mess and it won’t be much better any time soon as long as there’s only 2 balance/bugfix devs working on classes.

This reminds me of what people say about mesmers ALLL THE TIME. To be honest I don’t know what everyone’s problems with eles is but I am just glad the freaking heat is off mesmers in some aspects.

This time is just another l2p issue and like everytime it’s much easier to cry on forums rather than try to adapt and get better.
Have you got a single video ( that it’s not WvWvW) where you can show your fight against this “too” strong ele or we’re just supposed to take your word for granted?

P.S can you pls show me this OP build I am apparently using now? People keep saying that I’m running this unbeatable OP build, so go on and show me this uber build

Here again I am not saying that Ele’s need a massive nerf or a nerf at all. Not a single one. But how you are defending your profession reminds me of how I defended the Mesmer profession on numerous occasions. And you know what? Build diversity really is there for every class. I hope they don’t nerf ele’s. I wish they would rebuff mesmers (really annoying that we cant summon on a blind dodge or block instead of the first attack of the clone/phantasm missing.) But I do feel where you are coming from and I hope that your class doesn’t get destroyed. But coming from a class that has gotten “destroyed” on several occasions I can tell you that it won’t cripple you guys completely and you will adapt.

Read the post I just wrote. CLONE SPAM is not possible we can only have 3 active illusions at a time and it is the basis for our class… You are essentially requesting that they delete our class from the game… not very nice.

And continues to be one of the strongest classes, not to be compared with eg a Warrior.

Only because after Nerf “X” we went on and found another build that made us viable. Then we did the same thing after nerf “Y”. And here we are coming up on nerf “z” where we still may be able to find a viable build but it prolly won’t be so because people will find some reason to kitten about that build as well. One of my guildies that griped about the Mesmer mechanics and I mean he RAGED a couple days later he got a Mesmer took it to heart of the mists and started working with builds and so on. THEN ONCE HE UNDERSTOOD HOW THE CLASS WORKED he felt that he could effectively find new ways to counter. Sound advice that anyone who thinks about qqing should take before they go off and ruin some class further because they got beat. This advice goes to people who gripe about thieves bunker guardians trap rangers d/d eles 100b warriors or 100nades engis.

based on many skill options, despite various nerfs, Mesmer actually looks very good, that was great since release op and still is. Mesmer, Thieves, Eles, Necrotics, Guardians, Trap Ranger still live on the beautiful side of life. I’m playing Mesmer, Ranger AND Warrior … Warrior still the worst class in the game and no more than a fifth wheel on the car. You can be lucky with Mesmer m8.

Yeah i still post here because, believe it or not , i was a big fan of GW 2 prepurchased it on the first day they started selling it and played it since bwe 1.I would not be posting at all if i didnt have hope that they can improve this game substantially because potential is still there even tho everything they did from bwe 2 ( free allocation of traits removed,) till now was to make this game worse.Also, unlike you, i dont attack people on a personal level unless they start it first, but i understand that if someone lacks arguments and brainpower, like you, to confront my opinions and arguments they will always stoop to your level .

yeah we will adapt np, I can assure you that many of us are not even running the 0/10/0/30/30 build and still demolish people with it, in some situation I can use a skirmish tactic with d/d or s/d in other situation I can go staff and demolish people from distance while kiting them with cantrips, snare and roll back.
In the end those who were wishing for the destruction of the class will be disappointed like every time, at most the FOTM crowd will go but the good eles will remain and nothing will change for those complaing about eles

I dont recall any information about there being balance changes in this patch thats coming. Do you have a source for this belief?

I mean i know they commented on taking a look at d/d ele, BUT i havnt heard that this patch has anything to do with that.

Old post i know but i just felt the need to bring it up. Your passion defending this profession was inspiring, it`s like…religion. You could say i`m trolling since i partially am but how can you be taken seriously with a speech like that? Not to mention it`s contradictory. So the ele is good because it`s inherently good or because you are good? More likely it`s skewed in the favor of the first. Again i apologize for the bump but rawring like tarzan when u can switch between invuln, block deal nasty knockbacks up close and have access to powerful aoes from afar kinda takes away from your personal shine. So let me get this straight…an ele on the same build got : a block, an invulnerability, a given number of knockbacks and still capable of using powerful aoe from afar.
What can I say? I know very well that the ele greatsword is OP, you get a block in earth and water, 2 knockback in fire and invulnerability in air, but I’m sure Anet will increase the CD of block from 4s to 10s CD, this should fix the OP ele greatsword

yes but when the whining and qqing of PvP people affect how the majority of the people play not in PvP (because most of the game does mainly pve things sorry to burst your bubble) I feel the need to mention things here. It is not fair to us to have to deal with massive nerfs (for any profession the thief sword 3/pistol combo was just uncalled for)because the pvp crowd feels it so. I now ANet works with metrics and what not but they should not balance around PvP because they are the smallest group of people in this game.

Warriors don’t have an “All buffs” elite. Every class can do what the warriors are doing if they wanted to. I’m not gonna tell you what it is though cuz I don’t feel like being helpful :P

And the reason they probably don’t release patch notes early is because all the QQ that occurs after the patch, will just start occurring before it. No, don’t buff class X. Why nerf class Y. How come no fix for bug Z? Wut u mean new subscription policy?

This game had free allocation of traits and they removed THAT?? Holy **** that’s not smart at all, anet. I had no idea this was in the game and even made a thread about this as a suggestion a week ago… They should seriously consider to change this back as it was so we can actually use traits we want to use and not be forced to spend points in a certain tree just for 1 trait…

It just meant you cherry picked the traits out of each tree with 10 or 20 points in every line. It wasn’t that great. Consider now with most of the traits being as bad as they are with only a couple of good ones how quickly everyone would be the same build even more then they already are.

What I’d really like in general, is just a major cleaning up of all the bad stuff in every profession. The skills that aren’t often even worth a key press and the traits no experienced player would ever take. Each profession is littered with these noob traps that sounds good on paper to someone new to the game, but are absolute garbage.

Warriors don’t have an “All buffs” elite. Every class can do what the warriors are doing if they wanted to. I’m not gonna tell you what it is though cuz I don’t feel like being helpful :P

And the reason they probably don’t release patch notes early is because all the QQ that occurs after the patch, will just start occurring before it. No, don’t buff class X. Why nerf class Y. How come no fix for bug Z? Wut u mean new subscription policy?

It just meant you cherry picked the traits out of each tree with 10 or 20 points in every line. It wasn’t that great. Consider now with most of the traits being as bad as they are with only a couple of good ones how quickly everyone would be the same build even more then they already are.

What I’d really like in general, is just a major cleaning up of all the bad stuff in every profession. The skills that aren’t often even worth a key press and the traits no experienced player would ever take. Each profession is littered with these noob traps that sounds good on paper to someone new to the game, but are absolute garbage.

Are you talking about Rune of Lyssa being used with the Elite signet?
Thieves can get all boons from Basilisk Venom every 36s.
Only reason it’s late on Mesmer’s is because you guys have long CD elites.

This game had free allocation of traits and they removed THAT?? Holy **** that’s not smart at all, anet. I had no idea this was in the game and even made a thread about this as a suggestion a week ago… They should seriously consider to change this back as it was so we can actually use traits we want to use and not be forced to spend points in a certain tree just for 1 trait…

As Ayestes said, it was a balance nightmare that promoted build homogeny, due to the power differences between various traits. Who’s going to take a trait like the Guardian’s Powerful Blades (5% 1h Sword and Spear damage) when you can take something like Right Hand Strength in the same line (15% crit chance with 1h weapons)? Putting 10-20 points in a trait line would usually get you everything worth taking from it, and then you just moved on to the next line. Tiers actually create more strategic decisions for players by increasing opportunity costs and preventing the most powerful traits from directly competing for slots with the weaker ones, and the system gives Anet an extra means of balancing builds. Since balance is a heated topic around here lately, taking away the tools they have for promoting balance would be a poor decision.

If, theoretically, every trait had the same power as every other trait, free allocation might be more feasible. Unfortunately, this isn’t a realistic scenario, and likely never will be – that’s just the nature of games that offer min-max friendly customization like this. The more freedom you give people, the worse balance is likely to be. I do agree that weak traits need to be cleaned up for all professions, however – too many feel like filler, and this isn’t helping the meta evolve.

Back on topic, my hopes for the 28th? Besides the aforementioned trait cleanup (I can dream, right?), maybe tune the current Ele builds down just a little bit, and make it so you have to aim the Thief’s Heartseeker. It’d also be cool to see lots of buffs to weaker aspects of all classes (Ranger Signets/Spirits, Necro Minions, Ele DPS builds, Thief Traps/Venoms, Warrior survivability, Engi kits, Mesmer Scepter/Torch, etc). As a blatantly-biased Guardian main, I’d also love some buffs for non-bunker builds (though I’m not holding my breath), and hope that any nerfs bunker Guards receive don’t hurt offensive specs too badly. That’s my wish list, at least – I’m not honestly expecting to see most of it, considering the rate changes come at.

i dont think this patch is gonna have any balance/pvp except for the single match thing. the rest of the patch is just going to be the pve fire/frost stuff

I can’t wait to see what the patch is going to break.

Will the loading screen bug be back? Are we gonna see naked clones again? Who knows what could go wrong this time: maybe Thieves will get their Heartseeker range increased to 2500 by mistake, or switching attunement on Ele might result in 5 blank slots instead of a new set of skills.

Can’t wait to find out!
