immob doesnt counter teleport/sh..step, why?
immobilize has a counter? zomg arenanet fix!
Because rouges are overpowdered, and you can’t root them.
They use ladies powder?

We gotta reduce the powder on the thieves, ANET get on it!

The main counter to immobilise is some method of getting out of it. Thats fine. Stun breakers however currently don’t remove immobilise, so they only way to escape is to condi clear it.
Then you look at the list of condis that get cleared (which does have a priority order) and immobilise is bottom of the pile. I’ve literally come up against a trap ranger who had entangle, and popped every shout I had in order to try to keep a point capped as a bunker guard, and not had enough condi cleanses to get rid of the immobilise.
I kind of hate that you can teleport out of it, frankly I’d love to see them take that away but nerf the duration on all immobilise skills and move it up the priority order as a condi cleanse, but before that happens, the squishiest of classes need a way to escape it, its overpowered otherwise.
Bear in mind that teleporting does not clear the immobilise, it stays on the target, they have simply moved position. If you take this away there are too few counterplays to something that is inherently very powerful
Immob says, prevents movement. Teleport/shadowstep is a movement skill.. Why does that still works? Because they can already do other skills like a 3sec evade from flurry
You said it yourself. Shadowsteps are teleports, not movement increasing skills.
They practically teleport your character from one location to another. Strictly speaking you’re not moving. A leap or Whirlwind on the other hand very clearly move you, so they are affected by immobilize.
The animations make this quite clear, actually.
manny classes have teleports and thats good because it makes for a counter.

QFT.
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
Immo should afect ports too. To many get of jail cards to some classes.
Not a troll post, just wanna know.
Running a sword/longbow warrior build.
Its burst is very slow to land so i need a basic rotation like:
-Pin down for immob > combustive shot > arcing arrow, both are very slow arrows..
-Flurry > final thrust, its a 1sec casttime (tooltip says 0,45 but its 1sec)So now you now i need to immob them first.
Now this works great on most classes. Aldo people say immob is too good, it still got many counters.
You can still block/use skills in immob or remove condition..
Thats good so if you play well you can counter its burst for timing your block etc..But ofc i am having a real hard time against 2 classes..
Thief and mesmers.. They can teleport/shadowstep away very easy. So i can almost never do any good damage.Immob says, prevents movement. Teleport/shadowstep is a movement skill.. Why does that still works? Because they can already do other skills like a 3sec evade from flurry..
Not trolling, i just dont see why this is possible.
Or do you have a suggestion how to counter them on a different way? (while keeping sword/longbow)
It’s really more of the opposite: teleport/shadowsteap counters immobilize (sort of).
Yeah, Thief teleportation is way too OP, they should be able to teleport but only 4-600 range at most, the free spammable 1200 whenever they want because of the stupidly broken initiative system is gamebreakingly OP.
all is vain

Its 900 range and it’s not broken. It’s the only thing that thieves can bring that other classes don’t. Take that away and thief will be next to useless in this game.
It is not op, it’s what thieves do, it’s what anet had in mind when they were designing thief. They’re SUPPOSED to be the most mobile profession of the game.
I agree , thieves and mesmer teleport skills should be removed from the game.
Yeah do that and watch this game dying for good because you removed one of the most unique and fun mechanics of the game.
what the kitten is wrong with these forums lately? People asking for stealth to contest points, for AI to give rallys now to remove teleports from the game rofl
(edited by ahuba.6430)
Teleports are just a way thief and Mesmers can mitigate damage, it’s actually a healthy mechanic that promotes active play, targeting and space awareness. After all both classes have really low hp, limited heals and much more limited condi removal. landing a pin down, for a sword 4 = death.
Both classes use cheesy mechanics that aren’t forgiving.

lmfao at this thread. FIrst of all when u sh step with immob the immob stays on you, however when u sh step back it clears the condition as it should.
so yes it works, immob keeps you rooted to the spot… teleport is a teleportation skill not a movement skill and does not clear the condition.,
is this…. really not a troll post?
thieves don’t have protection, invul, their heals are bad, their condi removal comes at quite big costs, they are really squishy and anet is already nerfing their survivability next patch…. you want even more nerfs? comming from warrior? seriously?
what will be next? people being abvle to dodge? NERF! SO OP!
i can bring example where wars have stupid mechanics where they shouldn’t: orb carry, while other classes can’t use their movement spells while carrying orb, wars can go invul and zoom through map with orb by using GS… how is that fair?
[Teef] guild :>
majority of classes play w/o immob and do fine… pvp is dynamic you are not gonna have people sit in same spot like training dummy and wait for you to kill them

Sigh… The number one build for running the field is basically complaining about mobility. Basically complaining about thief mobility outside WvW in SPvP. I actually find this funny.
In your world where ports are nerfed burst guardian (Who already have issue sticking to targets) would find themselves facing your build (which already has stupid mobility) would find themselves further behind you as they try to JI and realize they are stuck where they are. The really sad kitten is you get soft CC on top of it with your build. Let me make this clear this is a very very bad complaint. In a game where most classes are just trying to stay on point most mobility for for getting from place to place. being among the classes the has the insane ability to pull out of combat heal and and return unscathed I find the complaint beyond funny.
Asking for nerfs (you basically ask with the question itself) for a mechanics so your ultra mobile build (which would probably be better condi based) can catch just 2 classes in a game mode based on conquest. SMH
Let me tell you something your build isn’t supposed t work against everyone. You already have enough mobility on that class to pressure. With the thief nerfs incoming it is hard to take this seriously.

Wow.......is this really being discussed....
Lol imob changes your location but the player is stilll immobilizes at the end of the skill, you can out play that by baiting a little pressure easy.
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
Wow…….is this really being discussed….
yes it is, did you also read it?
Or can you maby give some tips how to counter a thief/mesmer with my build?
Well those 2 classes are the kings of disengage…they get to choose who they fight (I play stealthy mesmer…..if i get caught in the condition storm with someone immo stacking…its death…but am a kitten to kill otherwise).
This is going to be where you are forced to coordinate with your team to spike drop them….but otherwise you can just stand on point and let them waste their time.
Didn’t mean to come off condescending…but if someone builds their character around disengage/stealth survival….you aren’t the person to drop them.
Seriously …. any random warrior-set should naturally counter the most defensive mesmer-weapon? And not require anything particular skill for the situation … like an extra immobilize/stun?
If you use your immobilizes on the clones, then your problem is not your build, nor the mesmers. Play a PU-mesmer and come back (no offense intended). Or even better: Play a shatter-mesmer and come back. Better warriors don’t roll over at the sight of a mesmer, that isn’t how it is.
Suggestion: If you find you lack the ability to land immobilize, then bring something to set it up. Otherwise live with your weakness towards more mobile classes (most builds have a weakness). Immobilize does still apply even if they teleport, so perhaps set up your leap accordingly?

this is the biggest joke of a thread ive seen in a while
Play thief/mesmer and you will understand why it should be possible…
Spamming your F1 will already prevent them for killing/approaching you half the time so you’re fine… Take hammer instead of sword and just roflstomp their faces after they have evaded your fire field

thas why hambow works so great against many classes..
But aldo i play warrior i really dont like hammer.. :-P
Maby i give it a chance (aldo its getting many nerfs) but i think i try to play some more thief/mesmers first to find out if i can counter them on my present warrior build.Thanx anyway everyone for the information (somewhat hidden or hard to find in flaming posts :-P)
Maybe, it is due to the inflammatory situation many of us have regarding warriors in general.
And perhaps you didn’t realize what impact your wishes would have for other classes.
Playing the class that causes you a headache should be the first step you take.
Asking on forums is nice, but I might suggest an approach that sounds more like asking for advice and not for nerfs. The moment you ask for nerfs, ppl start questioning your credibility, motives, bias and whatnot.
There is far less flaming in this thread, than I would have expected btw. Anyway: Best of luck.
/cheers

Of course it’s a troll post… Or it could truly be some rookie warrior QQ:ing that he can’t face roll everything, but I doubt that. His suggestion is too absurd.
