man what is going on with thief?
Every time I read these threads I wonder if everyone has forgotten how to PvP. Rule number two is bring a buddy (number one is healer dies first, of course). I PvP with a stealth/steal build, so I’m a bit harder to kill than the burst thieves, but if you’ve got friends, I’m in trouble. Thieves look for people on their own, so Don’t be.
Please tell me how you avoid a teleport skill outside of anticipation.
There will be certain situations where you’re low on health and the opportunistic thief will 1-shot you. It happens to everyone.
That said, most people who play thieves in hot-join (I assume this is where you’re playing or you wouldn’t be asking this question) are usually pretty bad at the prof, so if you see one approaching you and he suddenly disappears, he’s probably just used Steal on you. Dodge (stun-break if necessary) and run away, and lay down an AOE if you can. The AOE just hurt him, and you’ve ruined his opener. He’s now relatively useless for the next 45 seconds.
Instant assumption of my skill level and does not even answer the question. Just read the line and assumed bad… You cannot counter teleport outside of anticipation. What you have listed is reaction. Thank you.
You avoid a teleport the same way you avoid any instant skill.
You don’t or you predict.
That’s all there is to it.
Whether it’s problematic or not is one thing, but that’s the reality if you want it.

Instant skills = no skill…
Simply put.

What’s the relevance to the topic specifically when every profession has instantaneous skills. It’s pretty moot to bring up unless you were trying to remove all of them from the game.

Apologies, I didn’t comprehend your question well enough.
Indeed, anticipation is the only option for instant-cast abilities, but that’s the case with all such things, not just Steal.
I understand it’s all he had going for him, since he ran when I was downed. but dang… That was 20k damage in the 2 seconds before he became visible, via what I assume to be use of quickness.
How did that guy do a Heartseeker right before the backstab ?

Didnt watch for context, but i assume d/p heartseeker through combo field, then backstab.
