necro noob question
It can step foot in there and “do stuff”, but its not going to be optimal in any way. Conditions or power can be sort of scary at moments, but its pretty niche (especially Lich). But if you like it, you’ll do better with it than something else most likely.

lol dont listen to the people on here or sitting in pvp land. We run a power necro in our group and the abjured ran nos forever. Simply put the majority of people always run meta and when they lose they rage to something that isnt.
For instance our premade is power necro/ bunker guardian (who does team might stacking)/ stances warrior hambow/ staff ele/ and our 5th ranger either does dps longbow ranger or dps thief.
We have ran these builds since the wts for china and we enter these tourneys and do fine. We have earned our stripes (mini llama). Let me add our first win in a tourney was against a team who never pushed our far, just because alot of people talk about pvp like they know everything doesnt mean smoosh.
Necro can do really good if your team works together with you. If you have bad team and enemy team is good they can make you useless till the end of the match and only thing you will do is downstate and run back and forth doing like 0 damage because you are so hard focused by your counters they send you back to downstate in seconds.
Necro is underpowered in mobility and defense skills for team pvp. ( need a babysitter for high tier gaming ) can’t run away with 1000 health like another professions and come back after 5 seconds with full health, can’t stealth, don’t have shield, no access to good stability, no access to good teleport, slow as hell, pvp start with 0 Life Force. etc.

K, so kdaddy, would you say he is over all good, or only when he plays his specific role in your group? if your power necro was in a group of randoms would he still do good?
Sounds to me like he is only as good as his group according to Rolisteel.
People are just being whiney. Power necros are in a to good of spot when it comes to burst damage. As well as condition (Terror) Mancers being in a great spot when it comes to damage.
If you have good helpful team and you are skilled with power necro you become a pain for the enemy team.
If you don’t have team you’ll have some good time with randoms and some pain time when peoples don’t help you survive focus just letting you die. so you can run back and die again to focus without any help from team. you can’t get away as every proff have better mobility than a necro.
Necros are really only as good as their team because the profession is so reliant on teammates peeling for it. If you have a team that peels well for you, you can wreck face. If not, and your opponents are even halfway organized, your face will be in the dirt. A lot.
Basically, Necromancers shine when the enemy team is not focussing you, or focusses other targets…
So anyone who does not understand the profession will find himself on the floor when faced against a Necromancer…
On mid to high-tier play it becomes tedious and requires a lot of effort to avoid being focussed to oblivion every match, much like some other professions/builds…
Though when played well, and the team understand your role and capabilities, Necromancers are quite capable of locking down targets, which makes them a suitable DPS role (With all the attention needed to keep the DPS alive)

I would say you would have moments in some games and in others you would get destroyed. There are certain builds and classes that are just hit and miss. If you play with people who know what your doing or your set up you can easily be successful.
My guild when we run premades, none of us use meta. Our thief runs a 4-6-0-0-4 d/d- p/p thief and our necro is a power. I run stances hambow and we have literally ran into 3 turret engy 2 guardian premades and wrecked them. We have had teams literally quit queing to avoid us when the saw us in hotm.
As solo que goes other then me they tend to struggle. Which goes for any build that isnt all around good. All i was trying to say is if you know what you can be good at/ rotate to the right fight/ understand who you can fight 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 you can be successful with any build.
Too many times you get people running into a cap point when they have 1 person there and a mesmer or ranger able to range them from far. Or a bunker condi character sitting on a point and your pure dps character with limited condi removal saying a build is crap cause they cant beat it.
Our team in the wts, we only lose to the guys you see in the finals. Do we get crushed…… yes but we dont run meta builds and we have fun with our bursty and/or bunkery builds.
Necromancer is good when rest of your team is doing okay already.

necros are real threat when they are able to play on safe position, so they can spread a lot of conditions and pressure on the other team.
The problem is when the enemy team focus attention on you since necro has few options to scape/run.
Necro CAN and HAS owned in PvP, its arguably better in WvW. Necros were used in the World Torment, I cant say if a Necro was on the winning/finalist team however. The issue now stems from two places.
-Thief will always be a better roamer then any other class due to mobility.
-Celestial Amulet Meta
Mesmer and Ranger suffer from the same deal. Bunker Guard is crying somewhere and build diversity is having a funeral.
Power Necro is at the moment, great. Meta aside. Its Lich Form is arguably overpowered (Until they get a break bar, the stability leaves minimal way to counter it outside quick Focus Fire or a GOOD Medi Guard, rare things in soloQ/Pugs) However, outside of Lichform you’re going to need some skill to play it. If uninterrupted it will decide a team fight. You also bring wells, support for your team.
I think its fair to mention you’ll also get a lot of hate for “lol ez mode”, because the only skilled builds are the meta ones according to the backwards NA community. So ignore it.
Terrormancer is another popular build, Its arguably the bustiest condition build. Fears ticking anywhere from 1-1.2k on top of your other condis, that will also tick during the fear. You also have a decent boon strip (Corruption actually. Something better.) Hard counters Meta Engie.
Hope I helped.

Run away… Pff why would you want to? Its only underpowered if you’re doing the wrong things.
You only need warhorn 5 to have swiftness to the central point, win the initial battle with the help of your team (that’s the only tricky part and prone to failure) and then stand on it until the end of the round. Any class will find it nearly impossible to dislodge something like a MM necro bunker from a point. Its almost as bad as a turret engineer.
Or alternativly you go full zerk and melt anything in front of you (+1 on 3 peeps is sweet).
The only time I see bad necros is when people seem to try hybrid builds that are aimed at “surviving”. Because as you say, the necro is pretty mediocre at this type of balancing act.

Basically this.
