new decay system is in
i was around rank 300 in solo queue leaderboards before the patch , now after patch i have 69%. Back to battlefield 4 , maybe i will come back when leaderboards get a reset , skyhammer glory farmers a rollback , and the new pvp reward system is out. But i doubt that there will be enought pvp players left then.
when was your last match?
2-3 months or something like that , why should i play a game with broken pvp content with a low pvp population as a pvp player?
UPDATE:
LOL now i played 3 Games won all 3 and i went from 69% to rank 74 on solo queue Leaderboards. Funny kitten.

Edo,
So you are saying that a slot on the leaderboard should remain with your name on it while you are playing other games? Why?

Mind that switching it to an hourly basis isn’t making you decay faster, (we did increase decay) it’s improving the visibility/perception of decay actively working.
We ever gonna be able to see our hidden rating value?
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
In perfect theory, if matchmaking put you against EQUAL opponents , would everyone have/be very close to a 50/50 win ratio in the long run ?
No, even assuming a very large population with abundant skill range coverage, a portion of the difference comes from a player raising/lowering their rating from the default starting position. It takes a while for your MMR to settle.
If you have a good matchmaking and plenty of playerbase yes, it’s close to 50/50, unless you get really bad or really good suddenly, or you are in the extreme. But 90% of players should have close 50/50 in the long run.
Anyone that had played Starcraft 2 can confirm it. It’s probably that gw2 doesn’t have a variable that says how sure the system is of your “skill number” or it’s not properly tweaked or there isn’t enough playerbase to have 90% of close matches (or maybe 2 at the same time).
By the way, instead of decay, make a proper season with points, again, watch what they do in sc2 (don’t reinvent the wheel again, seriously!).

Baldric is exactly right. Another component that can lead to a non 50/50 win ratio is when matchmaking has to give you a lower quality match because of off-peak concurrency.

What is “off-peak concurrency”?

Any concurrency outside the hours of the day when concurrency is at it’s highest.

The “off-peak” part I easily understand.
Concurrency is what I was missing.
Do you mean simultaneous queuing?

Ah, sorry. Yes, concurrency is the number of players playing at the same time.

So the moral of the story is: "if you want your leaderboard rank to be as accurate as possible, only play at peak times, say, 4pm to 11pm CST in North America.

No, it’s more like “if you want your win/losses to stay around 50/50 then you should play during peak hours.”
Glicko2 can handle adjusting your MMR properly when you’re matched against players of different skill levels.

its more like this , there is not enought pvp players left anymore. so pvp part of game is simple dead because of low population. congrats arenanet you made all pvp players leave by releasing a game with unfinished pvp part and adding new broken pvp mechanic/content.

I wasn’t talking about the switch, I was talking about the fact that you use time itself to determine decay (that’s what i read in your previous posts in this thread)…
I think this is a wrong approach, a ratio of games/week or games/month should be used by taking into account every previous week/month, constantly updated every X hours/days.
Please correct me if i’m wrong or if you have already tried a system like this internally.
Does the leaderboard decay affect your MMR? In other words, does your MMR decline in line with your rank on leaderboards? If so, then it’s a terrible mistake.
I’m not saying that decay is bad. The decay is truly necessary, but starting it too soon is a kind of a psychological pressure on a player who loves PvP and cares about his rank. With such short delay before the decay starts a player sometimes will be forced to play (when he has no time or just wants to have some rest) just to keep his rating and that is where the fun ends (and work begins). I really think that delay should be longer (2 weeks at least), however its speed may be greater.
