next season should they reset mmr?
You have a point, I wouldn’t mind it. It would just result in high-skill players getting legendary very quickly though since they’d be less likely to be placed against people of their skill level.
It’d make MMR too volatile and especially so for those that don’t play often.
Can you define “too volatile?” I wouldn’t like losing to pro-league players, but wouldn’t I learn more from being forced to play them via volatile MMR? High volatility isn’t inherently bad, just different. And for those who don’t play often, they are but one stakeholder. Their opinion matters,, but so do the opinions of those who play frequently.

Honestly though that is how it should work. If you are indeed a player who deserves to be in Legendary, you should end up climbing very quickly through at least the first 3 divisions. Artificially keeping you in lower divisions longer accomplishes nothing except to ensure that you don’t have fun matches because they are faceroll for you, and people in your matches don’t have fun matches because no matter how hard they try it doesn’t matter.
Faster these players get to higher divisions, better off everyone’s experiences will be in PvP
