quickness hundred blades/pistol whip
Hi friends!
How do you counter these charge+hundred blades warriors or shadowstep/pistol whipping rogues with quickness? I mostly play ele/necro and I’ve tried the following:
-Die
-Roll a warrior/rogue myselfOther suggestions?
thanks!
-Dodge
-Use a stunbreak
Dodge.
CC.
Block.
Invuln.
Old rant is old.
I think the dodge solution is fallacious.
You get roughly 2 dodges for an entire team. The enemy doesn’t even have to perfectly stack stuns et al to take those 2 dodges away. In a duel, this is 100% correct. In a team game, it is a stupid solution.
In truth, I would love to see the skill changed. It is annoying to deal with. Low risk, high reward. And pidgeon holes warrior into a great sword build. Side note, I would also like to see thief’s HS changed for the same reason.
The goal should be neither a net buff nor a net nerf, but merely a change. It would be nice and fun to see a Warrior who didn’t use great sword, would it?
Yes, I’ve certainly never seen a warrior use a rifle
In a team fight block/invuln > dodge
You’ll see a Warrior in tPvP that doesnt use a greatsword— because another build allows him to stay up for-freakin-ever on a point. sPvP doesnt care about ‘holding’, just capturing, which leaves just the GS build.

Daze them, block or stun them. Then wreck them in the face.
I recommend stun break and if possible also an interrupt
“dodge” is such a terrible answer.
People always answer with “dodge” as if it’s the end-all solution to every problem.
Your answer as an Ele is simply this….. You die
People talk PvP as if it’s scripted or something. The fact is, you die. Eles have less HP, less defense, less damage, etc etc etc than any other class in the game. And every other class in the game also has ranged abilities and gap closers.
Slow them? Ok, they slow you too fyi. Stun them? Ok, they stun you too fyi. Dodge them? Ok, they dodge you too fyi and did i mention that all of your CC is cast and skillshot based unlike theirs?
As an Ele, sure you can use a staff. You can F4 4 place 4 cast 4, 3, F3 3 5 place 5 cast 5, 4, F2 place 4 cast 4, F1 quick turn so you are facing backwards 3. All to try to kite and survive while doing absolutly no damage to anything therefore making yourself worthless to your team. Yes, you can do that and you might live.
All he has to do is spam 2 buttons, and he will tell you it’s fair. Or, he will tell you “just dodge.”
Its bad in 8v8 hot joins where everyone is running these glass cannon builds and teams are just zerging. Its almost impossible to dodge them all. In tPvP it gets better. There are a lot more 1v1s and 2v2s. These glass cannons are a lot easier to shutdown in small scale fights. I laugh at most warriors who pop frenzy and then get focus fired. For this reason I dont do the 8v8 hot joins anymore.
It’s odd, in my HJ’s ppl have started to use stuff other than glass cannon builds. Sad really since my mesmer build hoses glass cannons.
Ultimately though I can’t help feeling HB needs a change, when combined with bull charge it requires 0 skill on the part of the warrior and quite a lot of skill/cd’s on the part of his target.
IMO dodging/countering stuff like that is a basic hurdle to sPvP. If you can’t manage stuff like that then don’t expect to do so well in tournaments. On a side note, you find a lot of these builds in hot join but decent tournament teams tend to run a much more balanced group from my experience.

Aye you should be able to dodge/counter core things, but there’s a difference between “dodge this or your at a disadvantage” and “dodge this or you die”. Anything which instigibs you, and no I’m not running a raw glass cannon, if you don’t have the stun-break/endurance up is silly in a game which is supposedly skill based.
I did a several tourneys, generally every good team had at least 2 of HB warrior/thief. (as in 2/0, 1/1 etc.). Also watching some of the really good teams stream they seem to be running several thieves, although at the higher skill levels the HB warriors do drop off since like any skill-less build once the opponent can counter your iWin button the spec is now reliant on getting lucky and ofc no good player wants to rely on luck to win.
I never die to warriors because rangers have a nice stun breaker which also leaps you backwards at the same time. Immobilise pistol whip on the other hand is very hard to get out of also the skill 2 teleport with sword is a pain. I dislike thiefs who say dodge it, because for most classes its impossible to dodge an instant cast poison that can be applied through an auto-hit or even worse if they start from stealth with shadow refuge.
I dont think its right that ive had to make my build specifically for taking out thiefs and then its still a up hill battle, because the other classes are much much easier to deal with.
Thiefs are by far the best roamers in my opinion with the 25% run speed signet and good burst they are a must have almost.
Yes, I’ve certainly never seen a warrior use a rifle
You’re right, and Rifle Primary Warriors are fun to fight regardless of the outcome. That said, the vast majority of Warriors are Greatsword. Quite a few Rifle Warriors end up switching to it as well.
I am not really trying to nerf the class. In fact, this is a problem that many classes seem to have (HS Thieves, 100B Warriors, Conditionmancers). I would just like to see a tad more variety. Right now there is typically a clear pub-stomp choice (even if said choice is counterable in organized PvP).
