Obviously Mesmer. Because they are the best at pretty much everything.

If you want something besides a Mesmer (why would you?), defensive spec engi is the most obvious, but necro or ele specced right can also hold nodes well.

As Yukishiro already said, don’t look past Thief/Mesmer/Guardian for any role. These 3 are currently the best at anything you are looking to do, hands down. Picking something else is just kittening yourself/team. For point defense, Mesmer/Guardian both will do the trick.

Engis are amazing at defending, condition builds using bombs with their supply elite can keep multiple people DoT’d up while keeping the point safe

Bunker engi or guardian.
Guardian is good for mid point defense, clocktower cap, and stuff like that.
Engi is good for holding the far point, and has great mobility to jump in and help mid point, or in other places. No really ideal for Khylo mid point hold/cap.
Engi is more demanding because all of the kits. It’s right up there with elementalist as far as learning curve considered.
Guardian might suit your needs better for its capability to deal with mid point cap on last map.
You might try engi on first 2 maps and bunker on wheels guardian for last.
