Please use the correct date and time for the deployment of patches. You’re confusing everyone by saying 09/24/12 midnight when that time has already passed. Say 09/25/12 midnight if that is what you truly intend to use.

Think it’s safe to say since this is the first of these I’ve seen it’s really just you.

Doesn’t really say much considering the company I see in these forums.
I was confused by this as well. Heck using the PST messes me up all the time (oh, get it?) since I live in central.. yep adding 2 hours messes me up.

Also, when you do eventually reach level 80, and you’re in Orr waiting for something to happen dynamically, because everything is bugged, you’ll understand the frustrating of everyone in map chat thinking that the patch was already implemented and nothing is fixed. I tell them all that the patch is tonight, yet no one there can tell time either.

Yea I guess it can be kind of ambiguous. I just always assume it’s after 11:59PM on the listed date, as opposed to before 12:01 AM.
Seeing this is a problem inherent with using midnight/midday indications for anything, and even more so for those living on a 24h clock (totally ignoring the confusing, past/after midday/midnight – and yes i know it’s Ante, but who the heck even uses that word in 2012!) …
I would like to suggest using the following time indication: 23:59 w/e date. As there is no mistake (but perhaps the timezone) about which day and what time the patch is being implemented. Using 11:59 PM would still be confusing all those living on a 24h clock, while 23:59h should be clear to all, it’s essentially midnight but i doubt people will be concerned about those 60sec.

I hope that someone has seen the concern. 1.25 hours left until patch.
can they just use gmt configuration? It’s more understandable for the lot of us who are not in NA :|
Yeah times should be in GMT really. It is the universal time after all.
Regardless of what time zone is being referred to, in the 24-hour time notation, the day begins at midnight, 00:00, and the last minute of the day begins at 23:59. Whether your country prefers using the 12 or 24 hour clock, this system is the international standard, there is a reason it is used by military worldwide, social preferences aside;) Unless you would like every patch to be a true surprise, without giving any dates at all, using an accurate time format is somewhat necessary – in addition to being a simple courtesy, showing a little respect for people’s time, and considering some may want to make plans to accommodate.
Thumbs up @Alverad!
Are all of you new to Guild Wars? Almost all events do not trigger until NOON PST. I.E. Not for 6 hours or so yet, this has been Anets standard since they are a Pacific Coast USA company, they have always used PST as the time for their servers. I was going to be excited if it was updated while I slept last night, but I knew it wasnt going to be the case. Just nut up and wait. Go to work, school, sleep whatever. It’s gonna be there eventually. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many threads on this and it seems like nobody came from Guild Wars 1.

They’ve already said not to expect anything until past midnight in europe.
Midnight in europe is not until 5PM PST. Five! PM! So late in the day!
17 hours after everybody expected it to launch.
Keep in mind that your frustration here could’ve been prevented had Anet bothered to actually communicate about this instead of give a date and leave it at that. Nobody knows when it starts. You cannot claim to know. You cannot use “It worked this way in GW1, therefore it will work this way here, too”. NOBODY knew when it was supposed to start, yourself included.
Therefore, people are confused, because “Digital release on the 22nd” doesn’t really come off as “Digital release late in the day for literally everybody”.
Also stop using the american date/time format and use the ISO international one of YYYY/MM/DD or at least DD/MM/YYYY.

Yeah the back-to-front date is kind of annoying as well.
Rage,
Just because you’re confused doesn’t mean everyone else is. So I’d stick around some more in the forums and ask questions just like the rest of the noobs do.
Thanks
Just check the fan forums, people are confused, especially in Europe. Anet shouldn’t really expect we know how they work cos we played the original game, many have not. Also, as it was pointed out, 22 is today, from now to 23.59.59 and not a second longer;)
It’s rather natural for people to expect something on the given date. We did not dream it up, it’s blown up on the front page of this site.
Midnight will be the 23rd already It would be lovely if someone from the company cleared this up. There would be no need for anymore threads or posts, atm there are at least 3 in the General Discussion, and this here.
It’s really not so much to ask for good communication. This is the first GW2 content patch, not the best way to land it – in a cloud of confusion, due to something as straight forward as timing.
“Yeah the back-to-front date is kind of annoying as well.”
I was a defender of DD/MM/YYYY, until I read the reason YYYY/MM/DD has an ISO tag to it – it’s culture independent, people can generally read it easily (it’s just not common) and it’s the easiest way to sort things as you have everything sorted by year then month then day as opposed to some weird orders that can come up the other way.
That’s alright, I’m in Pacific and I have no idea when this even will start!
