I just found an interesting discussion about the forums.
One thing that came to my mind immediately was, that there (the forums) is just not enough feedback from Arenanet.
Before GW2, iirc Anet looked at the bigger communitys and listened to them and sometimes even answered something.
But now, we have an official forum.
Don’t get me wrong, this is great because it’s a place where every player can post and every player knows.
But Anet just isn’t able to handle that massive amount of feedback.
So i thought of an idea of how to improve this.
If you don’t understand anything, please ask here.
English is not my native language so there may will be some errors in here.
The plan
In one line: Anet <-> X <-> Forums
You may ask, what is X?
X will be a group of people (maybe volunteers or as a side job for a bit of extra money)
I’ll just call them Listeners, because that’s what they’re supposed to do.
The Listeners will see an extra board on the forums which is only there, so they can share what they found to be important.
Anet will look through that forum and answer questions, the Listeners will then post the answers in the normal forums.
How does that improve anything?
Anet doesn’t have that much people to watch the forums, but we post a lot of things here. Also, they don’t have time to answer every post we submit, because they just don’t see everything we submit (due to limited time)
The group of Listeners will consist of a lot more people.
Those people will see a lot more stuff on the forums and submit the important stuff to the Channel between them and Anet, so Anet will get the important things faster
But what if they do post things twice?
They won’t.
The Listener channel will be like the real forums, with sub forums.
(if they see a suggestion, they’ll post it in suggestions etc)
Before they post, they simply look over that forum to see if there already is such a post.
If the thread is answered and there are no follow-up questions after a day or two, the thread will be locked.
Again after a few days, maybe a week or so, the thread will be moved to the “finished” section.
(i don’t know the word, but there should be a better one for this)
That last section is only there so Anet and Listeners can search if they think, there already was an answer.
Then again, after a longer time, post of the last section will be deleted permanently (depends on how much space Anet has left on the servers etc)
Since this was my idea, i think it is great, but other people may have other views, so please let me know, what you think of my idea and/or if i made any mistakes in my thinkings.
